2014 National Signing Day: All-Name Team

For those who love high school and college football, National Signing Day is a lot of fun. It’s the one day of the year in which a university’s athletic department’s fax machine is the most important piece of equipment on campus.

This is the day when high school seniors can fax in their letter of intent to the college they wish to play football. You need to be offered a scholarship before you fax a letter of intent…sorry, guys.

I’ve researched all the top players in the 2014 senior class and picked out some of the best names and which school they will be playing for later this year.

The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia will begin this weekend. We want to make sure our readers are as informed as possible. We have logged many hours scouting the female ‘talent’ who will compete in this year’s Winter Olympic games.

Super Bowl 48 Picks – Prop Bets

There’s one reason why I love the Super Bowl…even when my favorite team (Indianapolis Colts) is sitting at home. PROP BETS!

I have hit on many prop bets in the past and I’ve picked correctly on the length of the National Anthem in 8 of the last 10 Super Bowls. You can find a prop bet for just about anything. You can even find cross-sports bets like over/under Russell Wilson passing in Super Bowl vs. combined score of the Boston Celtics/Orlando Magic game. Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: January 2014

I want to kick 2014’s ‘Hipster Music Playlist’ off right. I decided to super-size this month’s playlist (again) with 15 songs. January is usually a difficult month to find good, new music, but I didn’t have much trouble this year. Included in this month’s playlist is an hilarious video by FIDLAR that features Nick Offerman (aka Ron Swanson).

I always keep an ear out for new music. I love discovering new bands/songs, it’s a habit from my days as a music journalist. Even though this is mostly a sports blog, I still add quite a bit of music and pop culture content.

I have been called a hipster on more than one occasion. I like indie music more than any other genre of music. Don’t get me wrong, I can rock out to Richard Marx or Ace of Base (depending on the amount of alcohol in my system).

Here are 15 new indie songs I’m currently listening to. All of the songs are fresh and most have only been released within the last two months.

2013 NFL Week 17 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I had to wait until the last minute to post my NFL picks against the spread. There was so many things that were unknown earlier this week. We know know the status of Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy and even Jon Kitna…yep, THAT Jon Kitna.

I have a 124-88-10 record against the spread so far this season.

There are five games with double-digit point spreads and playoff spots and seeds are still up for grabs. This is an odd Week 17, since we have two ‘loser leaves town’ games.

I hate betting in Week 17, but it’s the last shot at betting a full slate of games. There is no such thing as a ‘sure thing’ this week, weird shit will happen, my friends.

Fantasy Basketball: Week 9 – Top 10 Waiver Wire Pickups

I hope you’re doing well in fantasy basketball this season. I’ve been taking chances on guys with big upside and stashing them away. That strategy has worked so far, but I’m still tweaking with my roster, in-between poker hands at 888poker.com. I just keep finding quality guys on the waiver wire.

I advise you to look at every box score, especially bad teams’ box scores. You can find a few gems on bad teams. Players aren’t as highly coveted and they can slip through the cracks. You will find bargains, trust me.

For example, the Milwaukee Bucks have a few players worth a pick up, you’ll find two in this post.

Most of these players are owned in less than 50% of leagues (and some are owned in less than 10%). You should pick these guys up or at least keep a close eye on them.

2013 NFL Week 16 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Sorry about this week’s NFL picks article being postedlate, but I think I ate a bad McRib this week. I know there is really no such thing as a ‘bad McRib’, but I think one found my stomach. I’m fighting through it, so this week’s NFL picks against the spread is short and sweet.

I have a 116-80-10 record against the spread so far this season.

There are five games with double-digit point spreads and 80% of the games are garbage. It’s not a great week to watch NFL games.

In December, weather reports become more important than ever. Those must be looked at before you make a decision. It is also important to look at division records.

Can all five teams cover double-digit point spreads this weekend? Nope.

2013 MLB Rule 5 Draft Results

It’s rare I cover baseball news this time of year. NFL, NBA, NHL and college football are in-season and the only news worth mentioning right now are significant trades.

I try to weed out trade and free agent rumors in MLB, since there is so much fabricated information. Agents leak out wrong information to gain leverage in negotiations.

Something did happen today in the MLB, the Rule 5 Draft. As you may already know, the Texas Rangers selected Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson in the minor-league portion of the draft. Wilson played some minor league baseball in the Colorado Rockies farm system.

In the past, the major league portion of the MLB Rule 5 Draft has been significant in the past. Josh Hamilton, Jose Bautista, Johan Santana, R.A. Dickey and even hall of famer Roberto Clemente have been selected in the past. Here are today’s results and what the rules are after drafting a player.

2013 NFL Week 15 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I had a good week. I had some really nice hits on the marquee games and only had a few stumbles (NY Jets/Oakland). I now have a 107-74-10 record against the spread so far this season.

It’s a pretty poor slate of games this week. Many games pair two under-performing teams against each other. Last week could possibly be our final week with a full slate of competitive NFL football games. Teams will start benching players in favor of keeping them healthy and a few more teams could further quit on their coaches. There are a few games (Packers/Cowboys & Bears/Browns) that the line could drastically change mid-week depending on the health of their starting quarterbacks. Make sure to keep an eye on the NFL lines at Topbet.eu, which have up-to-date point spreads.

In December, weather reports become more important than ever. Those must be looked at before you make a decision. It is also important to look at division records. If one of the teams in a game has nothing left to play for, it could sway your decision in the right direction.

Two Fans Trip on Mushrooms at WWE Event, Hilarity Ensues

Have you ever attended a professional wrestling event? Could you imagine watching it on drugs?

Well, two fans recently attended a WWE live event in Vancouver after eating psilocybin mushrooms. A kind of mushroom that gives a person psychedelic effects after eating them.

Reddit user ‘illmurray’ and his friend posted on the popular website and gave a detailed account of their experience at the show. He experiences sadness, beauty, thoughts of our place in evolution and marks out hard when he sees El Torito, a little person wrestler in a bull costume.

I laughed out loud while reading his post. I had to share it with you guys.
