2015 College Football National Championship Picks – Prop Bets

2015 College Football National Championship game NCAA coin toss prop bets funnyWe are a big fan of prop bets. They are usually a crap shoot, but with the right research, you can end up winning a bet with very favorable odds.

I’m not saying you can research who will win the coin toss, but there are many other player and team prop bets out there that have nice odds.

Some prop bets aren’t worth the money (the vig isn’t worth the slight risk), but sometimes you just have to lay a few bucks down, cross your fingers and wish the best.

I picked out some of the most popular prop bets for the 2015 College Football National Championship game between Ohio State and Oregon.

2015 NFL Divisional Playoff Games – Betting Picks Against Spread

Rob Gronkowski funny New England Patriots NFL douchebagSorry about getting my picks up so late in the week. I’ve been on injured-reserve the last few days with a thumb/wrist issue. I feel like a pitcher who can’t hit 100 mph on the radar gun. I hope you still enjoy my 60 mph knuckleballs.

I finished the regular season with a record of 131-114-9 with my NFL picks against the spread. I missed a couple last week, but feel good about this week’s picks.

I had a decent year betting against the spread during the 2013-14 season (133-95-10). Any year you hit nearly 60% of the NFL games against the spread is a damn good year. I fared well in the playoffs as well.

We pick every game in the 2015 Divisional Playoffs against the spread. Can Dallas make people forget about all of last week’s favorable calls?

Kenny Hill to Transfer to TCU?

Kenny Hill TCU Texas A&M college football transferKenny Hill made a name for himself in his first game as the starting quarterback for the Texas A&M Aggies. He had huge shoes to fill since he was taking over the team Johnny Manziel left behind to enter the NFL. Hill threw for 511 yards in the opener against South Carolina.

The rest of the season didn’t go so well for Hill. He struggled in the middle of the season and then had to serve a two-game suspension. Highly-touted freshman Kyle Allen took over and lead the team to three-straight wins to end the season.

Hill saw the writing on the wall and asked for a release from his scholarship at Texas A&M. He cited the reason as he wished to play closer to his home near Dallas, Texas.

Where will Kenny Hill end up? Is TCU the only school in the running?

Cavs Still Don’t Know How to Make LeBron Happy

JR Smith Iman Shumpert Cleveland Cavaliers New York Knicks NBA tradeThe Cleveland Cavaliers have made a couple head-scratching moves. First, they traded Dion Waiters for Iman Shumpert’s flat top and J.R. Smith’s ability to get into VIP rooms. Then today, the Cavs traded a couple protected first-round picks to Denver for Tomofey Mozgov (who apparently survived that Blake Griffin dunk).

I get why the Cavs are making trades, but they feel like panic moves. LeBron James is battling knee and back problems and they need to right the ship in a hurry. It clearly wasn’t working out with Waiters and he needed a new home, but the deal they received could be more toxic than helpful.

Will these move put Cleveland one step closer to being a title contender or is it a step backwards?

2015 NFL Wild-Card Playoff Games – Betting Picks Against Spread

Jerry Jones NFL Dallas Cowboys owner funny rocafella gang symbolThe playoffs are finally here! We no longer have to deal with lame duck head coaches and teams tanking games.

I finished the regular season with a record of 131-114-9 with my NFL picks against the spread. I no longer have to pick Jets, Dolphins and Saints games (which screwed me most of the year)…so I feel pretty good about this week’s picks.

I had a decent year betting against the spread during the 2013-14 season (133-95-10). Any year you hit nearly 60% of the NFL games against the spread is a damn good year. I fared well in the playoffs as well.

We pick every 2014-15 Wild-Card Weekend playoff game against the spread. Can Dallas cover a touchdown points spread against Megatron?

Suh Wins Appeal, Will Play on Sunday

Ndamukong Suh Detroit Lions suspended Detroit Lions funny NFL memeDetroit Lions defensive tackle (and celebrity diver) Ndamukong Suh won his appeal and will play in Sunday’s playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Suh had his one-game suspension overturned by appeals officer Ted Cottrell. It came one day after the league suspended him for stepping on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

His teammate Dominic Raiola was suspended one week ago for stepping on Chicago Bears defensive tackle Ego Ferguson.

Let’s hope this squashes all the conspiracy theories that the NFL was stacking the deck for Dallas to advance. The NFL will get ratings no matter which team plays.

Jim Harbaugh’s Khakis Are Headed to Michigan

Jim Hardbaugh Michigan weird NFL head coach big tenThe most well-known secret was officially announced this afternoon. Jim Harbaugh, who just parted ways with the San Francisco 49ers, will head back to his alma mater and coach the Michigan Wolverines.

Harbaugh’s ties to Michigan go deeper than any of their former head coaches. He was the quarterback at Michigan in the 80’s under Bo Schembechler. Not only that, but Harbaugh’s father was a long-time assistant under Schembechler.

Even though Harbaugh lead the Niners to three NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance, his coaching style best suits the college game. It’s hard to get in an NFL player’s face if he’s earning more than you.

Michigan needed a fiery, uber-motivated head coach…and they have one in Jim Harbaugh.

Where Will Josh Smith End Up?

Josh Smith cut detroit pistons nba sad houston rocketsJosh Smith finally ‘perimeter shot’ his way out of Detroit. The Pistons decided to cut him and if he clears waivers (and he will), they will be on the hook for the remainder of his contract…a hefty $26 million.

Head coach and team president Stan Van Gundy put his foot down with this move. Smith could get away with poorly shooting long jumpers when his head coach wasn’t involved with personnel. Detroit has a long way to go to rebuild. Dumping Smith was a smart, long-term decision for the franchise.

Even though Josh Smith is one of the worst players in the NBA, teams are lining up to sign him once he clears waivers.

Title contenders will be at the top of the list, since he will most likely sign a one-year deal and then hit free agency this offseason.

Which NBA team will land Josh Smith?

Is Peyton Manning Playing Injured?

Peyton Manning manningface Denver Broncos NFL slumping injuredThe Denver Broncos are limping into the postseason. It’s ballsy to say that since they are 4-1 in their last five games. I’m saying that because Peyton Manning doesn’t have the same kind of firepower in his arm he had last season. He has turned into a ‘hand-off first’ quarterback.

Since Denver’s 22-7 loss to St. Louis, Manning has only averaged 230 passing yards per game. He has thrown seven touchdowns and six interceptions during the five-game stretch.

After the loss to the Rams, Denver running back C.J. Anderson exploded with back-to-back 160+-yard rushing games, but has fell back down to Earth the last three games. He has averaged more than 25 carries per game in the same span.

Is Peyton Manning playing injured or are the Broncos saving him for the postseason?

What the Heck are the Padres Doing This Offseason?

San Diego Padres Swinging Friar MLB mascot 2015The San Diego Padres aren’t trying to use a slow-build process to rebuild their team. New general manager A.J. Preller is charging out of the gate. He was a scouting director for the Texas Rangers for the last decade. During his time there, Texas used their farm system to trade for MLB-ready bats and arms.

He appears to be trying to use the same method in San Diego.

The Padres have already traded for former All-Stars Matt Kemp & Justin Upton, former top prospects Wil Myers & Will Middlebrooks and acquired underrated talents like Derek Norris and Brandon Morrow.

Can the San Diego Padres instantly contend with the Dodgers and Giants in the NL West or will they need a year to tinker with their current roster?

39 Snarky Reasons To Watch Every Bowl Game

couch potato college football bowl games 2014-15There are 39 college football bowl games this season and to be honest, not all of them are worth watching. I do my best (and worst) to try to convince everyone to tune into every bowl game this season. I use cheerleader quality, famous alumni, hot girlfriends and I even quote the movie ‘Tombstone’ to coax you.

R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: Nevada vs Louisiana-Lafayette (December 20th) – The game is played at the Superdome, so if you’re into watching a non-neutral site bowl game in which 90% of the fans are rooting for Louisiana-Lafayette, this is your game. Sorry about your damn luck, Nevada.

Gildan New Mexico Bowl: UTEP vs Utah State (December 20th) – I only know UTEP exists because I bet on college football. If I didn’t, I would only know UTEP because Tim Hardaway played basketball there…so watch a team you (may) have never heard of play football!

Jon Lester signs with Cubs, Fans Fear How This Will End

Jon Lester Chicago Cubs MLB 2014 Free AgencyI’m a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs. I’ve been through it all. I was born in 1980 and one of my earliest baseball memories was the Cubs’ 1984 playoff collapse. I dealt with numerous inept managers, a handful of ‘this is our year’ years and the whole Steve Bartman ordeal. The Cubs now have a stockpile of blue-chip prospects, but nearly all are position players. Chicago needs quality pitching and they just signed the biggest name this offseason.

Jon Lester, formerly of Boston and Oakland, signed a six-year $155 million dollar deal (with an option for a seventh year).

Theo Epstein and recently-named assistant Ryan Dempster both have a relationship with Lester. It gave them a much-needed edge.

I breakdown this signing and a few other ramblings about the upcoming Chicago Cubs season. Also, gaze upon my awesomely horrible MS Paint skills.
