The Padres Making Huge Moves for 2021 Season

San-Diego-Padres-Blake-Snell-Yu-Darvish-trade-MLBThis MLB offseason has been far from a ‘Hot Stove’ as teams took a financial beating from the COVID-19 shortened season. Teams have been looking to cut payroll, but many haven’t found any takers.

The Padres made two huge moves this week when they traded for Rays starting pitcher Blake Snell and then pulled the trigger on a trade for Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish. They managed to complete both trades without giving up their best pitching prospect, starter MacKenzie Gore.

The Rays will receive a nice load of prospects in return for Snell. The package is headlined by pitcher Luis Patino, with catcher Blake Hunt, pitcher Cole Wilcox and the former highly-touted prospect (and now possible reclamation project) catcher Francisco Mejia rounding out the deal. Patino is a steep price, but the Padres still have some great pitching prospects in their farm system.

2020 NFL Week 16 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 9-6-1 against the spread last week.

I’ve been strong the last few weeks and made up for some average weeks to start the season.

It’s time to start looking up certain playoff scenarios and if a team has any motivation to rest their starters. I don’t see of that this week since there is only one first-round bye in this year’s playoffs, and neither has been clinched in either conference.

Can the Steelers stop their slide and cover against the Colts on Sunday?

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 16 of the 2020 NFL season.

2020-21 College Basketball – All-Name Team

We didn’t lose that many players on last year’s College Basketball All-Name Team. We were in a little bit of a rebuilding phase after losing many the year before. We actually have many new faces/names on this year’s list.

We picked through every Division-I college basketball roster and a few smaller schools for our list. This year’s class is strong and is a better version of last year’s All-Name Team.

My name is Bobby Roberts, so I am often jealous of people with unique names. The most unique thing about my name is that I was not born ‘Robert Roberts’, Bobby is my given name. I don’t know too many grown men named Bobby.

This list consists of names that we wished he had and ones we find humorous. Enjoy!

Research is Key to Finding the Right Rental Price in Chicago

I’ve been in the market for rental apartments and homes at various points in my life. I’ve lived in everything from studio apartments to five-bedroom houses. I’ve never felt like I’ve overpaid or left feeling ‘stuck’ in a lease that I couldn’t wait to finish. I feel like I’m a bit of a pro at finding the right rental property at this point.

The first step in researching which rental property is right for you is to set a budget. I know budgets can be thrown out the window when you start looking at properties, so it’s important to try to stick to a comfortable price range.

Let’s say that you’re a single guy who is in the market for a one-bedroom apartment. According to Zumper, the average rent for Chicago is $1,425. This is a 3% decrease from last year. Of course is depends which neighborhood you’re looking at, but that’s a fair average price to live within the Loop.

How To Tell If Your Sports Collectibles Have Real Value

There are three great new year traditions that almost everybody follows. Firstly, you promise to be on your best behavior. Secondly, you promise to have a proper clear-out of your “stuff”. Thirdly, you promise to improve your finances. If you have a collection of sports memorabilia, clearing it out may help improve your finances. Here’s what you need to know.

The basics of sports memorabilia

The term “sports memorabilia” refers to any item that has value based on its connection with a sport. It can include personal items belonging to sports players and even merchandise produced by sport-related businesses like US Sportsbonus. While many items can qualify as sports memorabilia relatively few have any meaningful, commercial value.

2020 NCAA Football – Week 16 Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 13-11 against the spread last week.

I would normally title this week’s college football betting picks as ‘Conference Championship Week’, but due to COVID-19, there are a handful of other games that schools are making up due to them being postponed earlier this season.

Conference championship games can be tricky for teams that are in the driver’s seat for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Teams have been caught overlooking their conference opponents in the past.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick all 22 college football games against the spread in Week 16 of the 2020-21 NCAA Football season (December 19th, 2020).

2020 NFL Week 15 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 11-5 against the spread last week.

I was actually 8-1 against the spread at one point, but the late games on Sunday afternoon/evening made the record a little less remarkable. I’m still happy with the overall outcome. I also benefitted from the late safety in the Ravens/Browns game.

There are a handful of double-digit point spreads this week. We have been able to avoid a lot of those this year, but December is always filled with some lopsided point spreads, so it is expected at this point.

Can the Dolphins cover the spread at home against the Patriots?

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 15 of the 2020 NFL season.

Sweetbob’s Punk Rock Christmas Music Playlist

I used to release a new music playlist every month, but the time it took to put together was just too crazy to keep up with during football season.

I would receive numerous emails from readers with suggestions (I appreciated every single one) and music label publicity departments signed me up for a regular diet of press release emails. I just spent way too much time putting them together. I may dabble by doing a few playlists in 2021, but the monthly lists are unfortunately in the past.

I decided to put together a list of songs from my own personal punk rock Christmas playlist from Spotify. You won’t find Mariah Carey or Burl Ives on this one, but I think you’ll enjoy it.

Have a great holiday season and stay safe.

2020 NCAA Football – Week 15 Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 13-10 against the spread last week.

There have already been a handful of games cancelled due to COVID-19, and I expect many more will fall into that category before Saturday.

I was really looking forward to the now-cancelled Indiana/Purdue and Ohio State/Michigan games, but for very different reasons. I wanted to see more from IU’s backup quarterback and also see Ohio State blowout a bad Michigan team.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick 25 college football games against the spread in Week 15 of the 2020-21 NCAA Football season (December 12th, 2020).

2020 NFL Week 14 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 10-5 against the spread last week.

Thursday night games are back this week. I enjoyed not having one last week and actually found to prefer Tuesday night games instead.

The Steelers were the last undefeated team to fall. They lost to Washington and have another tough game this week when they travel to Buffalo.

There are a few games this week that will be the second meetings between division rivals. I try not to take a ton of information from those games as teams make adjustments and it’s difficult to beat a division foe twice in a year. I also don’t follow that advice for at least one of my picks this week.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 14 of the 2020 NFL season.

2020 NCAA Football – Week 14 Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 12-11 against the spread last week.

I can’t remember the last time that all of my 25 weekly game picks were actually played. There have been so many cancellations every single week due to COVID-19. It could really mess with some of the Big Ten teams since they made a policy that the games wouldn’t be made up.

There aren’t a ton of top-tier marquee games this week, so I’m going to list Liberty vs Coastal Carolina as the best of the week. I want to give props to those small schools who challenged larger programs during this strange season. The Liberty/Coastal Carolina game was cancelled. It appears that BYU will now step in and play Coastal Carolina.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick 25 college football games against the spread in Week 14 of the 2020-21 NCAA Football season (December 5th, 2020).
