2023 NFL Week 17 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 7-8-1 against the spread during Week 16.

I’ve had back-to-back near.500 weeks and we need to finish the regular season strong.

This week’s trendy thing to do is for head coaches to start their backup quarterbacks. Some are forced to do so, but the Broncos and Commanders are opting to bench their starters to see what their backups can do at this point in the season. I’m curious to see if Jarrett Stidham can do better under center for the Broncos than Russell “Let’s Ride” Wilson.

2023 NFL Week 11 – Betting Picks Against Spread

kyler murray dotted finalI went 7-6-1 against the spread in Week 10.

Injuries are ballooning point spreads and we are seeing more double-digit advantages again this week. It’s becoming the normal as we near Thanksgiving. The bad teams are already looking at the upcoming draft class. I just assume teams like the Giants will see double-digit spreads (or near it), the rest of the season.

Will the change in play-calling duties help the Bills and Panthers this week?

Can QB Joshua Dobbs continue his hot streak for the Vikings?

2023 NFL Week 10 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 11-3 against the spread in Week 9.

I had my best week of the year and I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on a handful of teams. A lot of the marquee teams are on bye this week (Chiefs, Eagles), so a lot of the middle-of-the-road teams will get more action.

The Cincinnati Bengals continued their resurgence and Denver Broncos are officially in the under-the-radar category. They’ve covered against the Packers and Chiefs in their last two games.

Will the San Francisco 49ers rebound from their three-game outright losing streak?

2023 NFL Week 9 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 9-6-1 against the spread in Week 8.

I was once again perfect for all the Primetime games, but was subpar or average on Sunday afternoon. I still ended up positive for the week and I hope to build on this momentum.

After a rough start to the season, it appears that the Cincinnati Bengals are back playing like a possible Super Bowl contender. They have a big test this week as they face the Buffalo Bills.

How will the Vikings fare without starting QB Kirk Cousins?

2023 NFL Week 8 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Kirk Cousins dottedI went 6-7 against the spread in Week 7.

I had an awful Sunday afternoon, but I was able to not completely lose my shirt by going 3-0 ATS on Thursday, late-Sunday and Monday night.

The most shocking outcome last week had to be the Ravens blowout win over the Lions. Baltimore had a stretch of games with a lot of key guys on the injured list. They are getting healthy, and if they acquire a running back, Baltimore could be one of the favorites in the AFC.

We have a full slate of games with zero teams out on bye this week.

2023 NFL Week 7 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 8-7 against the spread in Week 6.

I just can’t shake my streak of mediocrity. I’ve been stagnant at .500-ish for awhile now and I need a big week.

Last week, there were a couple huge underdogs that won against the spread. Double-digit point spreads are notoriously difficult to cover, but one of those underdogs won outright (Browns), and another was damn close (Giants).

I don’t want to spoil my picks this week, but I’ve went heavy on the points. I feel like there is money to be made on the underdogs this week. I would even suggest betting the moneyline on a few ‘dogs this weekend.

2023 NFL Week 5 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 9-7 against the spread in Week 4.

My bets were looking fantastic through the first-half of many games this week, but teams just made some key adjustments and a lot of my bets turned sideways late in the game. I was above .500, but didn’t hit on any parlays this week.

I was high on the Bengals going into this season, but they’ve really disappointed everyone. QB Joe Burrow isn’t 100% and the offense is just broken. They face the a beatable Cardinals team this week, can they turn it around?

2023 NFL Week 3 – Betting Picks Against Spread

ryan tannehill dottedI had another sub-.500 week, but it wasn’t as bad with a 7-9 record in Week 2.

This week’s article is another bare bones post. It may only be another week or two, but it helped me dedicate some time to work on my mental health. It’s been a rough month or so after my dog passed away. He was 14 years old and was by co-pilot on my lap, or below my feet, for nearly every betting article on this site.

One big positive that happened this week is that I decided to open up my heart to another dog. I was able to get another shih tzu and he’s been amazing. Training a puppy will be a bit difficult, but this little guy is pretty smart.

2023 NFL Week 2 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I had a rough start to the NFL season, but we know go into Week 2 with a lot more information.

This week’s article is bare bones and it may be like this for a week or two. I’ve been dealing with something personal and my mental health is absolute trash right now. I really hit a low about this time last week and didn’t think I could put myself through writing 12k+ words across my normal three weekly articles.

I really do love doing this, but it’s near-impossible when I can’t muster enough attention span to stitch two everyday tasks together. This change will probably be just a week or two.

2023 NFL Week 1 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Are you ready to place your bets?

I went 148-133-8 against the spread last season. It wasn’t a banner year and I just hovered around .500 all season long. I hope to start the year off with a big week.

I decided to kick off the season a little different this season. I decided to get some help fleshing out the opening week’s column. I asked Google’s Generative AI to add some season preview insight about every team. Their input is the first two paragraphs of every game breakdown. Artificial Intelligence still has a long way to go for accuracy, so I had to correct some items…as it thought Mike McCarthy was the Patriots head coach.

2023 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 1

How are you feeling about your team before Week 1?

Did you play it safe with your picks or did you take some risks with some young talent?

There are a lot of question marks at quarterback right now. Will the three rookie starting quarterbacks struggle early in their careers? Can Patriots QB Mac Jones do enough early in the year to keep Coach Belichick happy?

Will any Detroit Lions shine in their opener against the Chiefs?

2022 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 16

We only have a few more weeks left of the season.

I’m thinking about ending my fantasy picks after next week. Week 18 is such an unpredictable week due to playoff scenarios and teams resting their starters. It’s just a crap shoot and you’re probably not looking for waiver wire pickups in the final week of the regular season.

We are starting to find some new fantasy football waiver wire targets who are on very bad teams. I would suggest looking at players like Texans WR Chris Moore.
