2015 NFL Team Preview: Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals made it into the playoffs last season under head coach Bruce Arians. They didn’t have either starting quarterback Carson Palmer or backup Drew Stanton for the postseason, so they had to limp into the Wild Card game with quarterback Ryan Lindley. Things didn’t go Arizona’s way against Carolina and they were one and done.

The Cardinals made some upgrades over the offseason. They were able to add linebackers LaMarr Woodley and Sean Weatherspoon and stole three-time Pro Bowl guard Mike Iupati away from rival 49ers.

Seattle has been the toast of the NFL the last few seasons. Can Arizona push them and take the NFC West crown?

Betting Picks: 2015 NFL Over/Under Season Wins

We are a few weeks away from the start of the 2015 NFL season. You should start thinking about possible bets for over/under regular season team wins.

Ronda Rousey Huge Favorite Over Miesha Tate

It’s safe to say that everyone saw Ronda Rousey’s 34-second knockout of Bethe Correia last weekend. It was nearly short enough to post the video on Instagram and Vine.

Rousey’s next opponent is Miesha Tate, the only fighter to take Rousey into the second round. MMA fight odds are still quite lopsided. Oddessa.com CEO and head oddsmaker Joey Oddessa has Rousey as a 11/1 favorite.

These fighters have already face each other twice before, once in Strikeforce and again in UFC, with Rousey winning both bouts. Tate did stretch the second fight into the second round after avoiding multiple armbar attempts from Rousey in the first round.

Are James Harden’s Feet Worth $200 Million?

Houston Rockets guard James Harden is currently the hottest free agent on the market…let me rephrase that, his feet are the hottest free agents on the market. His deal with Nike expired and it is rumored that a 13-year/$200 million contract to the bearded basketball player.

It’s an insane amount of money just to advertise on a player’s feet. I could see LeBron, Durant, Kobe and a few other elite players, but I don’t believe Harden is in the same category as those players. I don’t see a Harden signature shoe flying off the shelves.

I understand Adidas has to overpay basketball talent to wear their shoes, since Nike is ‘cooler’, but shouldn’t they just roll the dice and sign a bunch of up & coming rookies hoping one or two of them get crazy popular?

‘Olbermann’: The Smartest Show to Ever Air on ESPN

Keith Olbermann was never supposed to be back at ESPN. He’s burned bridge after bridge at every television job he’s ever had…yet he has been rehired again and again by companies that have shoved him out the door.

Why do these large meda corporations always bring back Olbermann? It’s because he’s great at his job and despite the frustrations of employing him, the positive outweigh the negative…until they don’t, then he’s out the door.

ESPN announced mid-July that they would not extend Keith Olbermann’s contract and his show ‘Olbermann’ would end on July 31st.

I would like to share some of the great moments during the show’s 13-month run on ESPN.

America’s White Boy’s 2015 MLB Un-All-Star Team

It has become a yearly tradition that we look at all the former MLB All-Stars (and a few guys we expected more out of this year) that aren’t having stellar years.

The season is a little more than half over and it’s not too late for some of these players to bounce back and turn their seasons around.

Since I’m an active fantasy baseball owner, it didn’t take me long to make this list. A few of these guys were on my teams early this season, but were quickly dropped after a few weeks of bad numbers. I spent most of my time just baffled that some of these guys were actually All-Stars at one point.

The old benchmark for an All-Star was thrown out with the bathwater when Bud Selig decided each team must have at least one representative in the All-Star Game.

Early NFL Win Total Predictions by Mybookie.ag

I know a lot can happen between now and the start of the 2015 NFL season, but it’s never too early to find out all the NFL odds for the next season. NFL training camps open in just two weeks!

The NFL transactions page has been on silent mode lately, but it will ramp up closer to the start of camp. Just keep an eye on that page for big roster changes.

There has been a lot of movement already this offseason, so nearly all the pieces are in place for most teams.

I’m going to look at a few teams’ over/under regular season win totals. A few of the bets are no-brainers and I give a long shot bet prediction that could pay out well if everything goes right.

Every NBA Free Agency Signing (So Far)

We’ve previously explained the NBA moratorium period when we discussed the messy DeAndre Jordan contract situation. It is now over and NBA free agents are able to officially sign their new contracts.

There have been a plethora of trades including guys like Roy Hibbert, Lance Stephenson and Luke Ridnour (many times), but we are only covering the free agent signings that have been reported so far.

The only huge free agent news so far has been centered around LaMarcus Aldridge’s big decision and DeAndre Jordan’s blunder. Those guys are getting all the press, but a ton of talent that has already changed hands.

DeAndre Jordan Reneges Mavs Deal, Re-Signs with Clippers

Just a few days ago, the Dallas Mavericks thought they had an NBA title-worthy roster. They got a verbal agreement from center DeAndre Jordan that he would sign a four-year/$80 million max contract. They also signed Wesley Matthews to a healthy contract.

Well, before you start looking at NBA betting lines, things went bad in a hurry for Dallas.

DeAndre Jordan started having cold feet about leaving the Clippers. He met with Blake Griffin and then a few other Clippers joined him (Chris Paul even ended his vacation early). They stayed with him until 12:01 am Thursday morning, the minute he was able to officially sign a new deal.

It’s Okay to be Happy about the Roy Hibbert Trade

I’ve been an Indiana Pacers fan as long as I can remember. It was great during the Reggie Miller years, but after the ‘Malice at the Palace’, it became really difficult. Not only is your favorite team look at as ‘thugs’, but the years after it was just a mess.

After years of drafting ‘high character’ guys and signing ‘safe’ players, things finally turned around for the Pacers when they were lucky enough to draft Roy Hibbert, Paul George and Lance Stephenson. Things didn’t work out with Lance in the long-term, but there was hope for George and Hibbert to be a part of the team for a long time.

Well, everything went bad in a hurry.

What Makes the St. Louis Cardinals So Good?

The San Francisco Giants have won three of the last five World Series Championships. If not for that, the St. Louis Cardinals would likely be considered a dynasty in this era. St. Louis won the Series in 2006 and in 2011. They appeared in the World Series in 2004 and again in 2013. It seems they are always in contention for the championship and have been for about as long as anyone can recall. So how do they stay on top?

The cynical among us can say they’ve been cheating based on information that their front office has been hacking into other team’s computers. But this has nothing to do with the players on the field. It seems like putting on that red uniform turns ordinary players into super heroes. The Cards lose one of the game’s great hitters after their World Championship run in 2011 in Albert Pujols, but the team keeps rolling while Pujols has a couple of down years in Los Angeles Angels red.

2015 Orlando NBA Summer League Rosters

The Orlando portion of the NBA Summer League started today and runs through the next week. The Summer League concludes after that in Las Vegas.

Many of the top NBA draft picks are in Orlando and will be in action.

The teams are often filled with players in their first three seasons in the NBA and rounded out with players wanting to showcase their skills in hopes of landing in the NBA next season.

Some of the top draft picks in Orlando are Frank Kaminsky, Myles Turner, Stanley Johnson, Justise Winslow and Mario Hezonja.
