2016 Fantasy Football Rankings – Top 50 Tight Ends

A tight end can be a quarterback’s best friend. They aren’t usually very high in their progressions, but can easily become a crutch when a quarterback is pressured…especially if you have a running back with bricks for hands.

I look at tight ends like a power forwards in basketball. They are large men who often have some sort of athleticism or size advantage. In a perfect situation, like Rob Gronkowski in New England, he has an advantage on every play.

More teams are using athletic, pass-catching tight ends in an attempt to duplicate New England’s success…which is great for fantasy football players.

We rank the top 50 tight ends for the 2016 fantasy football season. It’s a bit overkill, but just in case you’re in a two-tight end leagues.

2016 Fantasy Football Rankings – Top 75 Wide Receivers

I don’t know if you’ve read the memo, but the NFL is a passing league. It has been a passing league for quite awhile and wide receivers have been slowly creeping up higher and higher in fantasy football drafts.

Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald were once the only two wide receivers, for quite awhile, that a fantasy owner would even consider drafting in the first round. A lot has changed.

If you go by most fantasy mock drafts, wide receivers dominate the first round. Many drafts even have the first four picks dedicated to wide receivers. Pittsburgh’s Antonio Brown will be the number #1 overall pick in nearly every fantasy draft this season. The position is quite top-heavy, yet deep.

2016 Fantasy Football Rankings – Top 50 Running Backs

It’s hard to believe that in just a few short weeks, it will officially be acceptable to wear hoodies in public. I love hoodies, but there’s something freakish about seeing a guy in July wearing one.

The running back position isn’t as deep as quarterback, but you should be able to find some good value late in the draft…but if you want a ‘workhorse’ running back, the pickings are slim.

Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles has been at the top of fantasy rankings the last handful of years. There are a few new names near the top this season, with one second-year running back sitting atop our rankings this season.

2016 Fantasy Football Rankings – Top 50 Quarterbacks

People are starting to schedule banquet halls and/or reserve a larger orders of buffalo wings at your local bar in hopes of having the best fantasy football draft of all-time. Others opt to draft online and enjoy the festivities in their boxers.

Both are awesome, but I enjoy buffalo wings a little more than being anti-social.

The quarterback position is extremely deep in fantasy football this season. If you are in a ten-team league, I predict that every team could have a legit #1 quarterback. That hasn’t been the case in many years. There’s always a team or two that ends up with what should be a fantasy backup as their starting QB.

We rank the top 50 quarterbacks and split hairs when deciding spots 40 thru 50.

America’s White Boy’s 2016 MLB Un-All-Star Team

It has become a yearly tradition that we look at all the former MLB All-Stars that aren’t having very good years.

The season is a little more than half over and it’s not too late for some of these players to bounce back and turn their seasons around. You can look at our Un-All-Star team article last year, many bounced back and finished strong.

Since I’m an active fantasy baseball owner, it didn’t take me long to make this list. A few of these guys were on my teams early this season, but were quickly dropped. I spent most of my time just baffled that some of these guys were actually All-Stars at one point.

The old benchmark for an All-Star was thrown out with the bathwater when Bud Selig decided each team must have at least one representative in the All-Star Game.

Former Mets Pitcher Plans to Sue MLB

Major League Baseball’s drug testing program is considered one of the best in professional sports, and the punishment for failed drug tests have been severe. Since the implementation of the program, there have been fewer failed drug tests in the league because players don’t want to risk getting suspended for a season. While home run numbers are down, the game is still exciting and baseball betting lines haven’t been affected.

When the program started, there were some skeptics of the program who felt the only players that would be suspended for a long time were the marginal players that don’t have much of an impact on the team.

Broken Matt Hardy May Have Just Saved ‘Impact Wrestling’

I know what you’re thinking, TNA is still relevant? Well, they haven’t been in quite some time. I’m a huge wrestling fan and I’m still guilty of just reading spoilers to avoid wasting two hours every week.

Something special has been happening on TNA’s “Impact Wrestling” over the last two months. It involves two wrestlers even casual wrestling fans are familiar with, The Hardy Boyz.

Before I explain what happened on last night’s episode of “Impact Wrestling”, I need to explain how this ‘Broken Matt Hardy’ storyline started.

Matt Hardy was the TNA Heavyweight champion earlier this year, but lost it in a match with Drew Galloway. He lost a rematch and he went to feud with his brother Jeff. They had an ‘I Quit’ match in which both were knocked out and Matt was taken to the hospital…this is when Matt Hardy became broken.

The Ten Worst NBA Contracts Signed this Offseason (So Far)

We knew this NBA offseason would have a lot of buzz since many top players would hit free agency on July 1st and the fact that the salary cap will hit a historic high of $94.143 million for the 2016-17 season.

Even though we expected a lot of money to be thrown around, it just didn’t really sink in until we saw the quality of players getting such huge contracts.

This list isn’t an indictment on the players getting literally a ton of cash, but an indictment on the owners spending frivolously. I guarantee their actions during the first few days of the 2016 NBA offseason will make them cry poor when this labor agreement expires. I have a feeling they may need another amnesty clause if spending continues this recklessly.

The ‘Way Too Early’ 2017 NBA Championship Betting Odds

The confetti is still clogging the drains in the streets of Cleveland, but that doesn’t stop Vegas from releasing championship betting odds for 2016-17 NBA season.

The NBA Draft just occurred and and the NBA Free Agency period hasn’t even started yet, but here we are talking about next year. A lot of players have already opted out of their contracts hoping to land more guaranteed money and others are being desperately shopped by their current teams.

Teams like the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic and the New York Knicks have certainly helped their odds thanks to some deals they made last week.

Sweetbob’s 2016 NBA Mock Draft

The NBA Draft starts later today and we wanted to wait until the the NBA Finals were over before we posted our mock draft. We then realized that a lot of trades may happen early in the week since we know teams like the Knicks were looking to trade into the draft…so here we are, the day of, posting our 2016 NBA Mock Draft.

A lot can (and will) happen to shuffle the draft tonight. Teams will trade up and down, especially if a prospect falls farther than expected.

I’m smart enough to know that my mock draft will not be 100% correct. Mock drafts are more about gauging where players should go if nothing changes from now until the draft…but chaos is expected. I feel like I have a good feel for the pool of draft-eligible players. I can give insight on who teams ‘should’ pick or possibly reasons why they shouldn’t choose someone.

Pacers Acquire Jeff Teague in Three-Team Deal

With the NBA Draft taking place on Thursday, NBA teams are trying to fill holes right before the draft.

The Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz got together on a deal on Wednesday that sent Atlanta point guard Jeff Teague to the Pacers, Indiana point guard George Hill to the Jazz and the Hawks would receive Utah’s #12 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

The Pacers have been rumored to be interested in Teague for quite some time. They needed a third team’s involvement since a straight point guard for point guard swap wouldn’t work due to Atlanta’s possible salary cap issues and the fact that Atlanta point guard Dennis Schroder has played well enough to now start at point guard for the Hawks.

Is Las Vegas a Good Fit for MLB?

Major League Baseball is toying with the idea of having an expansion team in Las Vegas, which is something that has residents of the area and some players excited about the possibility of playing in Sin City. While the news won’t have an impact on baseball betting lines, it might in the future if the commissioner decides to award the city a team.

MLB isn’t the only sports league considering having a team in Las Vegas, earlier this year, the Oakland Raiders, who haven’t been able to secure a new stadium in Oakland, said they are seriously considering moving the franchise to Las Vegas.

The NHL recently also announced interest in moving a franchise to Las Vegas or awarding an expansion franchise to the city.
