2014 NFL Week 8 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Colt McCoy Washington Redskins NFL backup RG3I might have went 7-8 last week, but I did call a Jacksonville Jaguars moneyline play, so if you played my picks, you still easily had a positive cash week. I am now 54-50-1 against the spread on the season.

We are starting to realize which teams were overrated in preseason and which teams that made all the ‘experts’ looks stupid (I’m looking at you, Dallas).

Colt McCoy is starting for Washington this week. I hope he does well, so every sports blogger has the opportunity to un-retire old pictures Colt McCoy’s girlfriend.

I had a decent year betting against the spread in the NFL last season (133-95-10). Any year you hit nearly 60% of the NFL games against the spread is a damn good year. I hope to keep it going in 2014.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 8 of the 2014 NFL season.

2014 NFL Week 7 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Richard Sherman Penguin suit Seattle Seahawks NFL funny weird oddThe NFL never ceases to surprise. The Browns are doing the impossible and the Falcons continue to nosedive.

We went 9-6 last week and are now 47-42-1 against the spread on the season.

It’s time to zig and zag in the NFL. If you’ve been riding a team so far this season, it could be time to jump off before things get ugly.

Sports Crush: Britt McHenry

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush‘ posts since we launched America’s White Boy. We’ve spotlighted female MMA fighters, WWE Divas and female sports reporters like MLB Network’s Heidi Watney and NFL Network’s Erin Coscarelli. We decided to profile another female sports reporter, current ESPN sideline reporter Britt McHenry.

Not only is McHenry beautiful, but she has a brains (she graduated from Northwestern). ESPN hired her away from WJLA, a Washington D.C.-area ABC affliliate.

We are crushing on Britt McHenry and once you look at our photo gallery, you will understand why.

2014 NFL Week 6 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Ben Roethlisberger Funny Weird Pittsburgh Steelers Cleveland Browns NFLVegas is starting to key into these teams. Yes, a few point spreads last week weren’t even close, but a handful were won or lost by a single point. We went 7-7-1 and are now 38-36-1 against the spread on the season.

It’s time to zig and zag in the NFL. If you’ve been riding a team so far this season, it could be time to jump off before things get ugly. It might be time to…*gulp* bet on the Jaguars. OH, THE HORROR!

2014 NFL Week 5 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Jerry Jones Hulk Hogan Lebron James Dallas Cowboys 2014Last week was a rough one for us. We went 5-7 and are now 31-29 against the spread on the season.

Value is what you need to see when you’re looking at NFL point spreads. It’s harder to see than in college football betting lines, so sometimes it comes down to a hunch…even if you’ve spent 30 minutes crunching numbers.

2014 NFL Week 4 – Betting Picks Against Spread

steve smith sr baltimore ravens carolina panthers nflIt’s time to bob and weave in the NFL. Teams that have been consistently covering spreads will finally become vulnerable. The value in their spreads will either be non-existent or razor-thin. Yes, even the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking good in Week 4.

Last week, I went 9-7 in my betting picks against the spread. I am now 26-22 on the season.

2014 NFL Week 3 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Wes Welker Funny Molly PED NFL Denver BroncosThe first two weeks of football have been marred with off-the-field issues. We have a few surprise teams and two Super Bowl contenders (Indianapolis & New Orleans) that currently sit at 0-2.

Sports Crush: Jenny Dell

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush‘ posts since we launched America’s White Boy. We’ve spotlighted female MMA fighters, WWE Divas and female sports reporters like MLB Network’s Heidi Watney and NFL Network’s Erin Coscarelli. We decided to profile another female sports reporter, former NESN reporter and current NFL on CBS sideline reporter Jenny Dell.

Dell first made national news when NESN decided to let her go after her relationship with Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks was made public. They are now engaged and her career couldn’t have gone in a better direction. She is now a sideline reporter on CBS during NFL telecasts.

We are crushing on Jenny Dell and once you look at our photo gallery, you will understand why.

Is Washington Better Without Robert Griffin III?

Sad Robert Griffin III RGIII RG3 Washington Redskins Kirk Cousins NFLIf you watched the Washington Redskins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars game on Sunday, I’m sorry. You are either a fan of one of those teams (sorry!) or you have a bunch of Jaguars and Redskins on your fantasy team (again, sorry!).

Washington defeated Jacksonville 41-10, but played most of the game without ‘star’ quarterback Robert Griffin III. RGIII dislocated his ankle in the first quarter.

Backup Kirk Cousins came into the game and immediately threw for a 20-yard touchdown. The crowd went crazy and RGIII looked like someone stole his girl.

Are the Redskins better off with Cousins as their quarterback?

2014 NFL Week 2 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Matthew Stafford Detroit Lions funny NFL gambling point spreadsI cannot explain the euphoria I felt while watching NFL Sunday Ticket last weekend. I remembered why I pony up every month for DirecTV. I also went 9-7 against the spread and hit on a few underdog moneylines…so that was nice too.

I had a decent season betting against the spread in the NFL last season (133-95-10). Any year you hit nearly 60% of the NFL games against the spread is a damn good year. I hope to keep it going in 2014.

I went heavy on road teams this week. I usually try to avoid road team favorites this early in the year, but they just make sense. You definitely need to do your homework this week and don’t fall in love with a team after Week 1.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 2 of the 2014 NFL season.

Are the Washington Redskins the Worst Team in the League?

dan-snyder-washington-redskins-nflIn the NFL, there are always people trying to make predictions after each week. It is the nature of the game, especially with so much dead time during the week to speculate. After just one week of action in the NFL in 2014, there are more than a few people who think that the Washington Redskins might just be the worst team in the NFL this year. They have 15 more games to prove that statement to be false, but in their opener against the Houston Texans, many things went wrong.

People in fantasy football were very optimistic about what Robert Griffin III could bring to the table in 2014. Many people thought that he would be 100% healthy going into the year after having to deal with some nagging issues last season. Instead, he struggled through the preseason, and he looked awful at times against Houston as well. Granted, Houston has a pretty strong defense, but people still expected him to be a little bit more effective.

The Ray Rice Video Strengthens NFLPA’s Bargaining Power

roger goodell dumb stupid ray rice nflI haven’t posted about the Ray Rice scandal for a reason. I try to keep things light, but here’s Keith Olbermann going ‘scorched Earth’ on Goodell. If I do speak about something serious, I want to have a different take on a subject.

I’m going to look through all the people and issues that we all agree are pretty horrible (Ray Rice, Roger Goodell, Atlantic City, etc.) and look at the business/union side of this issue. Ray Rice could single-handedly change the way other players are disciplined in the future…for the better.

The NFL and the NFL Players Association have been working on a new drug testing program that will allow the league to test the players for human growth hormone, but in order for that to happen, it needs to be collectively bargained (aka you get something, we get something).
