Nerlens Noel Injures Knee, Tears ACL [Video]

I was watching the #25 Kentucky Wildcats play against the #7 Florida Gators tonight and something horrible happened in the second half.

Kentucky freshman center Nerlens Noel injured his knee when blocking a shot by Florida’s Mike Rosario. Noel had to catch up to Rosario, who was on a fast break. He was going at top speed and couldn’t stop correctly. Noel’s left knee buckled and rammed into the padded post under the basket.

The sound Noel made when he grabbed his knee was heartbreaking. His Kentucky teammates helped carry Noel off the court.

That play will end up being Noel’s last this season and possibly his last play of his college career. He tore his ACL in his left knee.

Noel is projected to be a possible first overall pick if he entered the 2013 NBA Draft. It’s hard to say what impact, if any, this injury will have if he leaves college or if he will be drafted early.

I posted a video of the accident below. Continue reading

NHL Talk: David Clarkson, Biting & Michael Bolton

Two hockey guys talking hockey.

Joe Pasquali and Eddie Theisen are two die-hard NHL fans. They both watch every hockey game, every night (almost).

The guys talk about weekend hook-ups, how David Clarkson is making Devils fans forget about Zach Parise and why the Florida Panthers are making Joe a fan. The guys also mention what they’re giving up for Lent.

For Lent, I’m giving up drinking cheap beer and hooking up with ugly women at bars. For the next forty days and forty nights, it’s only good craft beer and the finest of ladies…then back to Pabst and women with low self-esteem.

By the way, neither of these guys have a girlfriend. This is their email conversation the following morning. Continue reading

10 Awesome Macho Man Art Prints

I recently bought a couple art prints on Etsy. I bought two prints from artist Rob Osborne, one was of musician (and life role model) Prince and the other was of former pro wrestler Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage. The prints are on high-quality paper and was very pleased with them. They look very nice addition in my office/podcast studio.

I was looking at the items on my wall and I began to wonder if other artists were also inspired by ‘Macho Madness’. It only took a quick Google search to find some gems I would like to share with you and the places where you could buy these prints online.

A few more searches of old school WWE wrestlers were made and Macho Man isn’t the only one whose image has outlived their wrestling career. I will have to write a few posts about those wrestlers in the future, but for now, here are ten awesome Macho Man-inspired art prints. Continue reading

Sports Crush: Heidi Watney

How could we not include the MLB Network’s latest addition to my ‘Sports Crush‘ series?

Heidi Watney was hired by the MLB Network back in September and she’s getting ready for her first complete season there. She has worked for NESN hosting “The Red Sox Report” and “The Ultimate Red Sox Show”. Before working there, she was a sports anchor for two stations in Fresno, California.

The internet is filled with pro-Heidi Watney buzz. The Dropkick Murphys even had her in their video for “Going Out In Style”. She is more than just a pretty face, Watney knows her stuff and very good at her job.

If you’re not familiar with Miss Watney, we help you get ready for the upcoming MLB season with a picture gallery of Heidi Watney. Continue reading

Notre Dame Upsets Louisville in Five Overtimes

The fans at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Louisville Cardinals game got some free basketball…a lot of it.

The first 39 minutes, as ESPN’s Eamon Brennan describes, was mediocre. He blames low possession rates in college basketball and teams being “overcoached.” Well, all that went out with the bathwater in the last minute of regulation. Notre Dame guard Jerian Grant got the green light to shoot threes and he drained them. He scored 12 points in the final 44 seconds of regulation.

Michigan State transfer Garrick Sherman was the overtime start for the Irish. He was supposed to be a big contributor for the Irish this season, but has seen his minutes dwindle down to nothing. He didn’t even register a single regulation minute, but finished the game with 17 points and six rebounds in Notre Dame’s 103-100 win that needed a FIFTH overtime to find a winner.

‘National Signing Day’ – All-Name Team

‘National Signing Day’ has come and gone. Now that the young men have picked their hat out of a line reminiscent of the shell game on “The Price Is Right”, we have a better idea of which colleges won the recruiting battle. You may not know who these young men are right now, but in a few years, some of these men will be in line to win the Heisman Trophy and/or a National Championship. Until then, we only have the names of these future college football stars to go by.

Here is a list of some of the best names of the incoming 2013 college football class…and a few players who already have famous names. Here’s a hint, one of their fathers had an exciting Sunday. Continue reading

NBA Betting Props: Effects of Rudy Gay Trade

The Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies completed the biggest NBA trade so far this season. The six-player deal will almost certainly be known as the “Rudy Gay trade”.

Toronto received forward Rudy Gay and backup center Hamed Haddadi, Detroit received point guard Jose Calderon, and Memphis received forwards Tayshaun Prince and Ed Davis and Toronto’s second-round pick.

Detroit and Memphis both look at the deal as salary relief and Toronto was in need of a franchise player since Vince Carter played north of the border.

Here are the latest betting props relating to the effects of this trade, provided by Bovada.lv. Continue reading

NHL Talk: Brodeur, Hipster Hockey Fans & Winnipeg

Two hockey guys talking hockey.

Joe Pasquali and Eddie Theisen are two diehard NHL fans. They both watch every hockey game every night (almost).

The guys  recognize Marty Brodeur’s amazingness, being “Shanabanned” and hipster hockey fans. If the Hartford Whalers came back, I’m positive Joe would watch their games every night. He’s doing the same thing with Winnipeg this season.

Neither have a girlfriend. This is their email conversation the following morning. Continue reading

Indiana Pacers: Was Larry Bird a Bad Team President?

After the surprise 2011-12 season, Larry Bird left his position as team president of the Indiana Pacers. He cited health concerns, but did leave the door open for a return at some point.

Now that the dust has settled and Donnie Walsh is back doing his old job, we can analyze if Larry Bird was actually a good team president.

We can go back and look at his coaching hires, draft record and his ability to get the best in a trade. Enough time has passed to adequately assess his job as team president from 2003-2012.

Yes, we do bring up T.J. Ford. Continue reading
