Will Anthony Rizzo Save the Chicago Cubs?

The Chicago Cubs currently have the worst record in all of baseball (24-48) and are trying to build for the future. President of baseball operations Theo Epstein has stated that nearly every player is on the trading block. Ryan Dempster, Matt Garza, Bryan LaHair, and Alfonso Soriano are all expected to be traded by the end of July. The one ray of hope occurred over the weekend, the Cubs called up their #1 prospect Anthony Rizzo.

The Cubs received Rizzo when they traded Andrew Cashner to the San Diego Padres this off-season. Epstein drafted Rizzo when he was the Boston Red Sox GM and wanted him on the Cubs.

Will Rizzo make his Chicago debut tonight against Johan Santana and the New York Mets or will they hold off his debut until they face Dillon Gee or Jonathon Niese later in the series?

Rizzo has all the tools to be a dominant hitter in the Majors. He has crushed the ball in the minors with Triple-A slash line of .337/.406/.673. In 69 games this season with Iowa (PCL) he has 23 homers, 62 RBI, and a .345 batting average.

To put his numbers into prospective and be realistic, Bryan LaHair’s 2011 Triple-A numbers were 38 homers, 109 RBI, with a .331 average through 129 games. LaHair has done well this year, but could end up being a 4-A player at the end of the day.

Rizzo had more than a cup of coffee with the Padres last season. He had a slash line of .141/.281/.242 with one homer in 128 at-bats. You could factor in that PETCO Park, San Diego’s home park, wasn’t suited for Rizzo’s skill-set, but he didn’t play every game at home.

Chicago could have started out the season with Rizzo as their starting first baseman, but they were smart by having him get his confidence back. He has a hot bat and Chicago could use it at the moment.

I doubt Rizzo will start in tonight’s game against Santana, but he could be used to pinch-hit later in the game. The smart money is that he will start on Tuesday and Wednesday. Chicago has been using LaHair in the outfield lately and should be in the lineup when a right-hander is on the mound.

I warn Cubs fans to lower expectations at the beginning. We don’t want another Felix Pie, Jerome Walton, Dwight Smith…(I could go on and on, but I don’t want to cry this morning). He will be batting near the middle of the order with Soriano and Geovany Soto sandwiching him. He will be protected to start out (well, as much as you can in an anemic batting order.

Rizzo will not save the season, but if he can show that he can hit MLB pitching and give the fans something to build on, he will do very well at the Friendly Confines.

…let the “Grease” nicknames begin. I’ll start, how about Anthony “Greased Lightning” Rizzo?

UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin II – Final Results

UFC 147 was supposed to be a clash of the titans, but Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva II couldn’t happen. The fight was supposed to take place at a soccer stadium in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

The second attempt at a mega main event card was to pair Vitor Belfort against Anderson Silva, but Belfort went down with an injury. That fight was going to be held at 60,000 seat Joao Havelange Stadium in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

The third and final attempt at a big main event put Wanderlei Silva against Rick Franklin for the second time. It wasn’t the marquee fight the UFC wanted, but both of these veterans are fighting for their careers. It will be tough for the loser of this fight to keep going.

Felipe Arantes vs. Melton Vieira
This featherweight bout was action packed. A lot of offense with a lot of clean blocks. Vieira narrowly missed being put in an armbar in the first and won the round. In the second round, Vieira landed a spinning kick and Arantes looked hurt; the round is tough to call. The third round had a lot of offense with Vieira being the agressor. Arantes countered his offense and easily won the third round. Felipe Arantes and Milton Vieira fight to a split draw (29-28, 29-28, 28-28)

Marcos Vinicius “Vina” vs. Wagner “Galeto” Campos
Each fighter came out looking to end the fight early. Campos nearly hooked an arm-triangle choke, but Vinicius escaped. Campos appeared to win the opening round. Campos once against nearly had a submission hold (kimura), but he escaped. The second round was slow with each trying to just gain control and clearly physically spent from exurting a lot of energy in the first round. I would give Campos the second round, because he had the most control and offense. The third round started out with a front kick that landed on the chin of Campos. Vinicius continued with a knee and pinned Campos against the cage. Herb Dean stopped the fight. Marcos Cinicius def. Wagner Campos via TKO – Round 3.

Thiago “Bodao” Perpetuo vs. Leonardo “Macarrao” Mafra
This is the first fight on FX tonight. Perpetuo and Mafra exchange early blows. Perpetuo is trying to work the body, but Mafra is countering. Mafra landed multiple combinations and wins the first round. Perpetuo dominates the second round by having control throughout the round. Mafra didn’t look good at all throughout the second. Perpetuo won the second and started the third with a big hook…Mafra never recovered. Thiago Perpetuo def. Leonardo Mafra via TKO (punches) – Round 3.

John “Macapa” Teixeira vs. Hugo “Wolverine” Viana
This is a catchweight fight with each fight coming in around 150 pounds. Viana lands a few big rights early on, but Teixeira is well enough to exchange a furry of punches. The first round was pretty even, but I’d give the edge to Viana. The second round was slow and spent mostly on the mat. Teixeira had the most offense that round. Teixeira and Viana are both tired going into the third and Teixeira takes the fight to the mat. Viana keeps getting back up. I would give the third round to Viana just because he showed preserverance. Hugo Viana def. John Teixeira via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Francisco “Massaranduba” Drinaldo vs. Delson “Pe De Chumbo” Heleno
Here’s Herb Dean again to referee this middleweight contest. Drinaldo had control of this fight the entire time. Heleno looks like he bit off more than he can chew. Drinaldo gets Heleno to the mat and nails him with a batch of hammerfists. Heleno couldn’t get up and Dean calls the fight. Francisco Drinaldo def. Delson Heleno via TKO (punches) – Round 1.

Rodrigo Damm vs. Anistavio “Gasparzinho” Medeiros
Medeiros and Damm exchange punches, but neither of them do any damage early. Medeiros misses a leaping knee and Damm gets back control on the mat. It took a few seconds, but Damm gets his rear-naked choke in and Medeiros taps. Rodrigo Damm def. Anistavio Medeiros via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1.

Yuri Alcantara vs. Hacran Dias
This is the first fight of the pay-per-view. Dias is on the offense with Alcantara scrambling. Dias looks like the better fighter early on. He landed big knees and controls Alcantara’s back. Dias locks in a kimura in a late, but Alcantara is saved by the bell. I would give the first round to Dias. The secound round is more like the first, but with Dias having control throughout the second round. Dias keeps rolling and coasts in the third and this contest goes the distance, but with Dias looking dominant. Hacran Dias def. Yuri Alcantara via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

Mike Russow vs. Fabricio Werdum
This heavyweight fight will definitely be a good one. Werdum starts off with blows to Russow’s face. His face is as red as a cherry. Russow already looks done and then Werdum lands an uppercut that sends Russow to the mat. Werdum continues with rapid-fire punches and the match is called. Fabricio Werdum def. Mike Russow via TKO (punches) – Round 1.

Rony “Jason” Mariano Bezerra vs. Godofredo “Pepey” De Oliveira
This is the featherweight final of the Ultimate Fighter. The first round was used to feel each other out. Jason scored an early takedown, but Pepey reversed it and controlled most of the first round. I would score the first round for Pepey. The second round was used to catch their breath, but Jason landed a leaping left and barely won the second round. The third round was ugly, but Jason had control after Pepey was clipped by a knee early in the round. There were attempts at submission holds, but none of them were ever hooked. I would give the third round to Jason, but it was pretty even. Rony Mariano Bezerra def. Godofredo De Oliveira via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira vs. Sergio “Serginho” Moraes
This fight is for the Ultimate Fighter Middleweight winner. This fight had its fair share of low blows and eye pokes. The first round was sloppy, but Ferreira wins the round, even with a blatant low-blow. The second round has more weirdness with unsportsmanlike conduct. The crowd is confused at who to root for, since the fight is so dirty. The third round is fairly even with each fighter having their moments. When the bell rings, they want to fight some more. Each fighter climbs the cage thinking they have won this decision. This could be the fight of the night. Cezar Ferreira def. Sergio Moraes via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

Wanderlei Silva vs. Rich Franklin
The crowd went crazy when Silva makes his way to the octagon. This is the first time he has fought in his home country (Brazil) in twelve years. He is looking to avenge his loss to Franklin in Germany a few years ago. The first round was even, but Silva did connect with a high leg kick to the left side of Franklin’s face. I would give the first round to Silva. The second round started out very slow. Franklin connected with a hard kick to the body, but Silva connected with a huge leg and followed it by a barrage of punches. The referee did not stop the fight and Franklin survived the second round…barely. In the third round, Silva expends a lot of energy and looks gassed. Franklin connects with a leg and gains half-guard. Franklin drops a lot of elbows and win the third round. The fourth round was uneventful until Silva connected with a brutal low kick with a minute left in the fourth (don’t YouTube or stream this video, it will make your stomach hurt). I would give this round to Franklin, barely. These fighters are saving it all for the fifth round. The fighters waste most of the round saving energy. Silva lands with a few big rights and the last 25 seconds were a tornado. Franklin got a lot of blows in and even landed a straight as the final bell rang that sent Silva to one knee. This fight will be close in the cards. Rich “Ace” Franklin def. Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46).

Blue Jackets Draft Ryan Murray #2 Overall, No Rick Nash Trade

The NHL Draft began last night with the usual suspects owning the top picks. The Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, and Columbus Blue Jackets have found themselves drafting in the top 5 too many times. They have whiffed on many picks over the last decade, with Columbus having the worst drafting record in the entire NHL.

Going into the draft, everybody knew that Columbus would be drafting a defenseman and a Rick Nash trade would be imminent. The CBJ drafted defenseman Ryan Murray, but has yet to pull the trigger on a Nash trade.

I will give you the lowdown on Ryan Murray and when/where will Rick Nash be traded.

Columbus drafted Ryan Murray, who played for the Everett Silvertips of the WHL, over a group of defensemen that includes Griffin Reinhart, Moran Reilly, and Hampus Lindholm.

Murray is only 18 years old, but has great leadership skills. He played for Canada in the recent World Championships. A couple defensemen drafted after Murray have a better two-way game at this point, but the leadership ability is coveted by a team who will be searching for a leader once they trade Nash.

Nash could be traded this weekend, but you shouldn’t hold your breath. Over the last two years, I think every team in the NHL has been rumored to be trading for him. The San Jose Sharks is the current rumored team to be close to trading for Nash. The package Columbus would receive in return would include center Joe Pavelski and other compensation to sweeten the deal. This trade would fill a need on the Blue Jackets, but I say that sarcastically because they have a need at every position.

In the long run, it is hard to see Columbus coming out as a winner in any trade that would include Nash. There is no doubt when he gets traded to a better team, insane numbers will fill up the box score next to his name. Nash has always looked great in Olympic competition and in every All-Star game he played.

No matter where Nash winds up, he will get a standing ovation when he returns to Columbus to play against his former team.

The only trade the Blue Jackets made last night was with the Philadelphia Flyers. They traded three draft picks for goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. They needed help at goalie since Steve Mason can be a basket case in the net. Mathieu Garon had success splitting time with Mason a few years ago and GM Scott Howson is hoping that competition will bring out the best in Mason.

Let’s just hope this trade will turn out better than their trade with the Flyers last off-season. The ‘Jakub Voracek + others for Jeff Carter’ trade may go down as one of the worst trades this decade. Carter whined his way out of Columbus and the Blue Jackets traded him to the Los Angeles Kings for 20 cents on the dollar. Oh, by the way, the Kings won the Stanley Cup this year.

Mark Cuban Destroys Skip Bayless on ‘First Take’ (Video)

I have made my fair share of “Skip Bayless is a Douche” posts on this site. I even posted 10 videos of him being a douche bag earlier this month…hell, I even compared him to Glenn Beck.

ESPN’s “First Take” is usually broadcast out of a studio in Bristol, Connecticut, but the show traveled to Miami for the NBA Finals. So it was easy to get Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban as a guest on the show.

“First Take” is usually a decibel battle between Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. I hear they play the show to torture inmates at Guantanamo Bay, but that is beside the point.

Cuban absolutely destroys Bayless for making blanket statements and speaking in generalities when he bashes players. The video is amazing and quite possibly my favorite video of someone calling out Skip Bayless.

NBA Players Who Are Now Pressured To Win Their First Ring

The Miami Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight to win the 2012 NBA Championship. The pressure is now off Lebron James and Chris Bosh. The NBA is filled with young stars who have played past the age in which people expected them to already have a ring. It is hard to win a championship when you have Kobe Bryant, Boston’s “Big Three, and now Miami hogging up all the titles.

Lebron got the monkey off his back and he has given it to a few other NBA players. I’ve scoured through rosters and made a list of players who are now pressured to win an NBA Championship.

The 2011 Dallas Mavericks had many players who had to wait 10+ years to win their first title (Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, etc). There is hope for these players and odds are a few will win a ring in the next few seasons.

Kevin Durant (age 23) – I guess that I should start off with a couple players who just lost in the NBA Finals. Kevin Durant has a couple scoring titles under his belt and had a great postseason. He will have many other opportunities to get his ring and maybe he needed this loss to help push him to the next level. Durant is locked up with the Oklahoma City Thunder long term. They have some nice pieces around him and they will get even better.

Russell Westbrook (age 23) – Westbrook and Durant play really well together, but they came up just a bit short in the 2012 NBA Finals. James Harden and Serge Ibaka didn’t have a strong series, but they have both of them signed through next season. If OKC can sign them for three or four year deals, this team will be even scarier. Russell Westbrook is a turnover waiting to happen, but fixed that problem in the postseason. OKC will have Eric Maynor back next season and could give Westbrook some time at two-guard.

Dwight Howard (age 26) – The Orlando Magic center (for now) has already made a NBA Finals appearance and lost. His current contract situation has made the news over the last 18 months and painted him in a very negative light. If Dwight Howard were to be traded, he would have a lot of pressure on him to bring a championship. The rumor is the Los Angeles Lakers want him and Howard wants to play for them, but Lakers would have to trade Andrew Bynum and their salary cap situation is messy. I don’t see him going to the Lakers unless they decide to go above the luxury tax threshold.

Steve Nash (age 38) – He is the one player in the NBA that basketball fans would love to see win a ring the most. Steve Nash had many chances to jump ship and basically pick a team to be traded to, but he was loyal to the Phoenix Suns. He is an unrestricted free agent this off-season and wants badly to win a ring. I could see him signing for near the minimum amount to join a contender for one last run. New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City, and Miami are great fits for Nash in 2012-13.

Chris Paul (age 27) – He is currently in the situation that Lebron was in previous to this year. He is in a new place with some nice talent around him. Can Chris Paul recruit enough talent to join the lowly Los Angeles Clippers? It remains to be seen if the Clippers can keep any talent past their first contract. They need more than Griffin and could use some perimeter shooters. Donald Sterling will need to tone down the crazy and open up his wallet if he wants to finally get a banner at the Staples Center.

Deron Williams (age 27) – Williams is a guy that basketball purists would always point to when people would claim that Chris Paul was the best young point guard in the NBA. Well, both players find themselves in different places and Williams was stuck in New Jersey for the last 18 months. He is a free agent this off-season and is rumored to be headed to Dallas. This would put him in a great situation with an owner who wants to be a contender every season…plus he gets to play next to Nowitzki.

Carmelo Anthony (age 28) – Anthony forced his way out of Denver to play in a bigger market. He took a lot of heat from the media for being a diva. The New York Knicks haven’t won a championship in my lifetime and the pressure to do so is immense. Anthony is a scorer and needs a few players around him to force teams to play man-to-man. Amar’e Stoudemire is a nice piece, but he also needs to score to get the most out of his game. A full season of Jeremy Lin will be a test to see if Anthony’s game will ever translate to winning an NBA title.

Derrick Rose (age 23) – The Bulls have been trying to add pieces to surround Derrick Rose with NBA championship caliber players. They attempted to swing for the fences by signing Carlos Boozer, but struck out swinging. Rose was hurt for most of the 2011-12 season and injured his knee in the first round of the playoffs. It is unknown how much time Rose will miss next season and Chicago may force him to ease back slowly. Rose will win a title because he’s too good of a player, but it could be with a different roster in the future.

Other notable players who have yet to win an NBA title: Zach Randolph, Josh Smith, Danny Granger, Kevin Love, Elton Brand, and John Wall.

Gerald Wallace Declines Player Option, Becomes Free Agent

According to Legion Sports, Gerald Wallace will tell the Brooklyn Nets that he will decline his $9.5 million player option and will become an unrestricted free agent.

In what could be the worst trade this decade, the Nets traded Shawne Williams, Mehmet Okur, and a 2012 top-3 protected 1st round draft pick to the Portland Trail Blazers for Wallace. The Nets’ draft pick ended up being #6, so it will be sent to Portland to complete the deal. The Nets gave up all of that for roughly 20 games of Wallace.

Now that the Charlotte Bobcats all-time leading scorer is a free agent, will Wallace go back there and become an icon or sign with a contender? I name a few teams that currently need his services and have the cap space to offer him a contract.

Wallace has a weird NBA contract. His contract ends 15 days before the NBA Draft, so theoretically the Nets could use that information and draft to fill the need. Unfortunately, Portland owns their first round pick and the Golden State Warriors own their 2nd round pick (#35 overall). They do own the Miami Heat’s 2nd round pick (#57 overall) and Draft Express currently has the Nets using that pick on Mike Scott, a 6’8 power forward from Virginia.

Even though Wallace is a free agent earlier than the rest of the class, he will still be under the same rules. He cannot start negotiating with a team until July 1st and will not be able to officially sign until July 11th.

Which teams are in need of Wallace and could afford to pay him?

The first team that comes to mind is the Charlotte Bobcats. Unfortunately, they have three ridiculous contracts on the books for 2012-13: Corey Maggette $10.9 million, Tyrus Thomas $8 million, and DeSagana Diop $7.4 million. Diop and Maggette’s contracts will come off the books after next season, but the Bobcats will still owe Thomas $18+ million. Maggette could be a trade piece mid-season, since he is still productive, but Diop and Thomas are unmovable. Charlotte could afford to give Wallace a deal, even with a couple bad contracts on the books.

My fingers are crossed that the Bobcats sign Wallace this offseason. It has been a rough season for my friend Ben Swanson. He is SBNation’s Charlotte Bobcats blogger at Rufus On Fire. It could heal the pain he has endured by being a Bobcats fan the last few years.

Depending on their selections in the NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers could be in the market for Wallace. A lot of mock drafts have them selecting either PF/C Andre Drummond (UConn) or PF Thomas Robinson (Kansas) with the #4 overall pick. If Bradley Beal falls to them, Wallace could be in play for Cleveland. He would be a nice complement to both Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson.

The Dallas Mavericks could end up poaching both of the marquee free agents from the Brooklyn Nets. All of the rumors point to Deron Williams declining his player option and signing with Dallas. In order to sign Wallace, Dallas would need to use their amnesty clause on Brendan Haywood. He is due to make $27+ million over the next three seasons.

The final team that I believe could go after Wallace would be the Boston Celtics. If Danny Ainge decides to go in a different direction and opts to not re-sign Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, the money would be there for a few marquee signings. It is a long shot because of their need for a center and that Wallace does a lot of things that Brandon Bass could be doing for the Boston next season. Ainge is unpredictable and he could try to reconstruct the next ‘Big Three.’

The Brooklyn Nets find themselves in a bad situation. They are due to open their new arena in Brooklyn without a notable player to appear on billboards. Deron Williams is expected to decline his player option and will leave the Nets with MarShon Brooks as the face of their franchise. I would have said Brook Lopez, but the Nets have been throwing him out there as bait for both Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum over the last two seasons. I’m not sure if the fans actually see him as a player or just a trade commodity.

In the end, the NBA Draft will dictate where Gerald Wallace will end up. If a team misses out on a SF/PF scoring option, Wallace will end up on their wishlist.

Must Watch: NBA TV’s ‘Dream Team’ Documentary

There wasn’t a definitive documentary about the most important basketball team ever created. HBO was rumored to be working on a documentary about ‘The Dream Team’, but nothing materialized.

ESPN’s ’30 for 30′ documentary series raised the bar for sports documentaries. Bill Simmons once said in a podcast that he wanted to make a ‘Dream Team’ documentary, but the rights to the video from the 1992 Olympics were too expensive.

NBA TV stepped up to the plate and is debuting their documentary The Dream Team tonight at 9pm EST. I have viewed parts of the movie which is certain to be an instant classic. It contains never-before-seen video of a scrimmage that you will never believe the outcome. I list a few of the intriguing moments you will see tonight and post a video of the movie trailer. Could Boston’s ‘Big Three’ Be Back Next Season?

The Boston Celtics had a nice five-year run with Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce leading the team. They won a championship and had three other deep runs in the NBA playoffs.

Boston lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals and fans heard the team’s death rattle. Garnett and Allen are free agents this summer and even Pierce’s future in Boston is questionable.

Rumors are swirling about what GM Danny Ainge will do this off-season. Could he blow the team up and rebuild around Rajon Rondo or sign Allen and Garnett for one last run? The duo will have plenty of suitors, but would they give Boston a hometown discount?

Gary Washburn of Boston.com had an interesting article about the moves Boston could make this off-season. He seemed pretty optimistic about the ‘Big Three’ staying together for the next season or two, if they took a pay cut. The Celtics could offer Garnett a two-year deal with the incentive being an extra guaranteed year. Allen would have to sign a much smaller contract with a lesser role, most likely being a 3-point specialist. Boston would have enough money to re-sign Jeff Green, who is coming back from heart surgery.

Washburn’s scenario is plausible, but could Garnett and Allen ignore the temptation of signing with a team who has a better chance at winning a title?

Buck Harvey of the San Antonio Express-News reported on Sunday that the San Antonio Spurs will take a long look at Kevin Garnett this summer. The Spurs were only two wins away from making it to the NBA Finals and an extra piece. Garnett alongside of Tim Duncan is a scary thought for Western Conference teams.

Ray Allen will also have his share of suitors. A 3-point specialist is in high demand, but he wouldn’t be getting a lot of money. He would be signing with a new team strictly for the opportunity to raise another banner. The Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat, and Chicago Bulls all need a player with Allen’s skill-set. The Bulls would be an interesting fit with Richard Hamilton and Allen both coming off screens. It would be a defensive nightmare for teams, but both players have lost a step.

My money would be on Ainge orchestrating a maneuver that keeps the ‘Big Three’ in Boston for at least one more season. Boston has three of the first 51 picks in this year’s NBA Draft, but could use the D-League system and to keep a player or two down there to keep roster spots open.

Boston already has a young core of players waiting on the bench. Avery Bradley, JaJuan Johnson, and E’Twaun Moore could be productive players in the league. Bradley has already shown his worth as a spark plug who can play both sides of the ball. A full season of a Bradley/Rondo backcourt could lead to another deep playoff run, even without Garnett and Allen.

If Ainge decided to blow up the team, he wouldn’t have to do a lot. If he chose to move some pieces for elite talent, Boston has assets…especially with the amount of draft picks they own in this very deep draft.

Let’s hope that Ainge makes a decision without flipping a coin…even if it would be much easier.

Indians Closer Chris Perez Saves Game, Pukes On Mound

Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez earned his 20th save by defeating his former team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Instead of fireworks being shot off after the game, he projectile vomited all over the mound.

He was suffering from some gastrointestinal issues and decided to still pitch in the game. He has done this before, in 2011 he had the same issues with the same result.

Cleveland.com‘s Glenn Moore, who has worked with Perez’s on a podcast, edited the video of Perez vomiting with the audio of WWE’s Vince McMahon from the documentary “Beyond the Mat”. Great job, my friend!

Boxing is Fixed: Manny Pacquiao loses to Timothy Bradley

In what could be the biggest fraud in boxing’s rich history, Timothy Bradley (29-0) stayed undefeated by winning a split-decision over favorite Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2).

I watched the entire fight and even tweeted that it was boring because Pacquiao was dominating him in every round. The only round that I had Bradley winning was the 10th. HBO’s Harold Lederman had nearly the same scorecard as me.

Over the last three years, I have written three separate posts about Skip Bayless. I believe that he is the Glenn Beck of ESPN and I am proud to have went on a rant about it on this blog.

YouTube is full of Skip Bayless videos of him doing Skip Bayless things. He plays the role of devil’s advocate and makes empty opinions about polarizing athletes. He was once a very respected journalist, but he has turned into a ‘talking head’ on a television show where the loudest person wins the argument. When he shares the debate desk with Stephen A. Smith on “First Take”, I instantly change the channel and watch some “Party of Five” re-runs on Lifetime.

George ‘The Animal’ Steele Throws Out First Pitch, Eats Ball

George ‘The Animal’ Steele is a former professional wrestler whose career lasted from 1967-1989. He is best known as the wrestler with a blue tongue who ate the stuffing out of the turnbuckle.

Steele was in Rochester, New York for the Collectorfest monthly card show. He had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a Rochester Red Wings game. The Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins didn’t realize that he would make an epic first pitch.

Steele was handed the ball and he proceeded to eat away at the cover and started eating the inside of the baseball. After he was done eating, he threw the remaining piece as the game’s ceremonial first pitch.
