Sports Crush: Lauren Shehadi

Lauren Shehadi MLB Network brunette hot prettyTopps baseball card beautifulWe’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush‘ posts since we launched America’s White Boy. We’ve spotlighted female MMA fighters, WWE Divas and female sports reporters like MLB Network’s Heidi Watney, ESPN’s Britt McHenry and NFL Network’s Kay Adams. We decided to profile another female sports reporter, MLB Network studio host Lauren Shehadi.

Shehadi co-hosts MLB Central with Mark DeRosa and Matt Vasgersian.

Shehadi also once worked for CBS Sports and was an intern for Fox Sports Network’s The Best Damn Sports Show Period.

We are crushing on Lauren Shehadi and once you look at our photo gallery, you will understand why.

‘America’s White Boy’ 2017 NFL Mock Draft

Myles Garrett 2017 NFL Mock Draft funny america's white boy texas am aggiesMany sites post weekly mock draft updates and could have posted as many as 30 revisions up to this point. We like to simplify the process and post one mock draft that is final.

The NFL Draft’s first round is this Thursday, April 27th in primetime on ESPN and the NFL Network.

Many are wondering if the Cleveland Browns will take who we all assume is the best player in the draft, DE Myles Garrett from Texas A&M, or go with a quarterback like Mitchell Trubisky from North Carolina…or go completely off the rails with another choice. We would probably not wonder so much if any other team than the Browns held the first overall pick.

How many quarterbacks will be taken in the first round? Any surprises?

Swimmer Ryan Lochte Rescued From Drowning After Olympics Thanks To Finance Company

160819-lochte-0432_c60bfaf14ac110d64f37cad517fd9897.nbcnews-ux-2880-1000Medals are won and prizes are claimed at this kind of competition, but swimmer Ryan Lochte rescued from drowning after Olympics thanks to finance company.

Lochte is a professional swimmer, yet he was drowning in a sea of trouble after the Olympics. Troubles like these could seem endless for anybody, especially a 12-time Olympic medalist.

Some could argue that the swimmer’s problems were self-inflicted, but that does not mean he does not deserve the second chance given to him by Debt.com. In fact, the deal was for a campaign called “Second Chance”, which was only fitting.

Sweetbob’s Fantasy Baseball F/M/K – April 19th

SweetbobFMK1We are a little over two weeks into the 2017 baseball season. You are probably still trying to figure out your roster. Should I cut bait with an injured player or let him take up a DL spot? Should I pick up someone like prospect Cody Bellinger and hope the Dodgers call him up?

We look at some players who started out hot, some who are struggling and maybe some guys who should be targeted in your free agent pool.

Before I begin, let’s go over the F/M/K terminology. The guys that I list under “F*ck” are guys that are currently hot and you need to pick them up. “Marry”, are guys that you need to stick with the whole season, even if they are struggling a bit. “Kill”, are guys that need to be dropped for better players in the free agent pool.

Step Up Your Golf Game

golfpexNobody likes to lose. Even if it’s a casual game with friends, nobody wants to come last. You certainly don’t want to be the guy that everybody has to wait for while you spend half an hour trying to get out of a bunker. Golf is an interesting game, because you can master the basics in a few hours, but then it can take a lifetime to really hone your skills. If your golf game is lacking, then practice is the best way to improve your swing, but there are a few other things that you can try. Here are a few tips to bring your handicap down

Equipment

A bad workman always blames his tools, but in golf, you might be forgiven. The equipment that you use does make a huge difference to your game. The first thing to get right is obviously your clubs. The amount that you should spend depends on how serious you are. If you are playing the occasional friendly game, you still want a decent set but there’s no need to break the bank. But if you are a bit more serious, or play more often, it is worth investing in a more expensive set. Here’s an interesting article on choosing the right clubs.

How Did We Do?: 2016-17 NBA Season Wins Over/Under

2016-17 NBA Season Wins Over Under ResultsIt’s time to pop the champagne, guys!

Before the season began, we picked the NBA Season Wins Over/Under totals. We wrote out picks for the Eastern Conference and Western Conference before the 2016-17 season started.

We’ve always done really well with our NBA Over/Unders in the past and our results were solid this year.

We went 16-13-1 on the year. We hit on all the sleepers, but missed horribly on the Houston Rockets (I wasn’t sold on their depth). Vegas definitely cleaned house on a few teams since a handful of totals were won and missed by only a 1/2 win.

We list all the teams and what their over/under win totals were at the beginning of the 2016-17 NBA season. See which ones we hit and missed on this year.

Toy Crazy: May 2017 WWE Funko Releases

WWE Funko May 2017 Finn Balor chaseWe haven’t covered any Funko releases on this site, but it’s about time we do.

We have reviewed a lot of Mattel’s WWE Elite figures, but Funko has also released some pretty solid figures in the past. I’m a big collector and you can see some of my collection on my Instagram, @vintagetoybob.

I’ve plugged another site in my previous Mattel posts, but if you’re looking to order Funko figures, I’d trust intheringcollectibles.com. I’ve bought a ton of stuff from them and they always pack shipments very well. You can use code ‘paulyp‘ for a discount.

Here are some pictures of Funko’s May 2017 WWE POP! vinyl releases.

Sweetbob’s Fantasy Baseball F/M/K – April 12th

SweetbobFMK1We are a little over a week into the 2017 baseball season. If you’re playing fantasy baseball, you’re still trying to figure out your roster. Should I cut bait with Byron Buxton? Should I pick up someone who started out red hot?

We look at some players who started out hot, some who are struggling and maybe some guys who should be targeted in your free agent pool.

Before I begin, let’s go over the F/M/K terminology. The guys that I list under “F*ck” are guys that are currently hot and you need to pick them up. “Marry”, are guys that you need to stick with the whole season, even if they are struggling a bit. “Kill”, are guys that need to be dropped for better players in the free agent pool.

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 50

WWE Elite 50 Shane McMahon Stephanie McMahon Baron Corbin John Cena Warlord Rhyno Mattel toysI’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month. You can view photos of my collection on my Instagram account.

The lineup in Elite 50 is overall pretty darn solid. Four in the series are the wrestler’s first ever elite and the accessories are fantastic…especially and entire announce table with Shane.

The WWE Superstars included in Elite 50 are Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Baron Corbin, Rhyno, Warlord and John Cena.

CBS Sports App Makes Other Sports Apps Obsolete

cbs_green_1_largeI fiddle with my phone a lot when I’m in public. I don’t really play games on it, but I’m always looking for something new to read. I automatically go to my favorite sports sites to read up-to-date news, but sometimes those sites aren’t very user-friendly on mobile browsers.

I recently downloaded the CBS Sports app and I find it easier to navigate than other sports sites and apps. I have deleted a handful of other sports apps since downloading this app.

I just added all my favorite teams and I can easily track the scores. I even added a few teams I don’t like, but have fantasy baseball players on my teams. Having to see St. Louis Cardinals scores is a small price to pay to keep track of Randal Grichuk and Seung-hwan Oh’s performances.

Stephenson is Back Doing ‘Lance’ Things for Pacers

Lance Stephenson Indiana Pacers NBA funny 2017The Pacers made a favorable move last week when they dropped the injured Rodney Stuckey and re-signed Lance Stephenson to a three-year deal.

Stephenson had a fairly acrimonious end to his career in Indiana a few years. He went on to sign a deal with Charlotte as a free agent. He struggled away from Indiana and even found himself bouncing around the league this year.

We still don’t really know what happened to the Pacers during the 2013-14 season. Some people pointed the finger at Stephenson, some at the Hibbert for being ‘soft’ and Paul George even got some blame. Team president Larry Bird wouldn’t have brought Stephenson back if he was to blame or maybe the ‘troublemaker’ is no longer on the team.

Wrestlemania 33: A Marathon of Mediocrity

Roman Reigns Wrestlemania 33Wrestlemania is the biggest wrestling event in the world. Every year, tens of thousands of wrestling fans cram into a huge stadium or dome and watch as the WWE trots out what they believe is the best overall wrestling card of the year.

This year’s 33rd installment of Wrestlemania occurred on Sunday in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl. Stars like John Cena, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar were put in matches with weeks-long build ups.

It should have been a home run, right?

Well, unfortunately, the 7 1/2 hour show fell flat time and time again.

I thought about writing an in-depth match-by-match review of Wrestlemania 33, but I really doubt it would have been very entertaining. Many matches lacked quality wrestling and focused more on ‘entertainment’. I will instead just mention a few thoughts about each match and give my opinion of the overall state of ‘wrestling’ in the WWE.
