The 20 Best Ska Songs of All-Time

two-tone-logo1-skaI’ve been a fan of ska music was since I was a teenager. I played the trombone in the marching band, so I always thought I would make a ska band one day, but I wasn’t really good at it.

There are many ska bands that broke into the mainstream, but some of the best bands never reached that level.

I formed a list of the 20 best ska songs of all-time. I didn’t want to repeat bands, so I didn’t list ten Operation Ivy tracks, which would probably happen. I know I didn’t list The Toasters, The Specials and some of the other great ska bands, but it was hard to narrow down this list to only 20 songs.

Here are the top 20 ska songs of all-time (in no particular order).

Horse Betting for Beginners

Mr-Ed-Horse-Betting-GamblingAfter years of betting on sports like football, basketball and baseball, I was looking for something new to try. It’s not like I perfected gambling on those sports, but I’ve always been curious about horse betting.

Before I went into it head first, I needed to do my research first. I wanted to give myself the best odds of winning. I had to learn about the sport and why people love putting “a few dimes on a pony.”

As I read about the sport, I realized how little I actually knew about horse racing. I knew about the Triple Crown races (Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, Preakness), but was unaware of how many daily races are held all over the country. I may have been a little naive, considering there’s a relatively large track within an hour from my house. Continue reading

Wrestling Rewind: 1998 WWF SummerSlam

1998-WWF-SummerSlam-Stone Cold-UndertakerOur ‘Wrestling Rewind’ series will be a trip down memory lane for lifelong wrestling fans. We will watch old WWF, WWE and WCW pay-per-views and comment on the matches. We poke fun at the matches and compare them to today’s wrestling product. Think “Mystery Science Theater” with professional wrestling history.

In 1998, the WWF ‘Attitude Era’ was in its infancy and old characters were still being used. You can tell Vince McMahon was starting to understand what he needed to do to beat WCW, but his delivery was often flawed.

The Rock and Triple H have yet to become main event guys, but after the 1998 WWF SummerSlam event, both wrestlers were pushed to another level.

Here’s our Wrestling Rewind of 1998 WWF SummerSlam…feel free to watch along. Continue reading

Sports Crush: Holly Holm

Holly-Holm2It appears we love female MMA fighters on AmericasWhiteBoy.com. We’ve previously posted Sports Crush articles about UFC’s Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate.

Our focus in this post is Holly “Preacher’s Daughter” Holm. She’s fairly new to MMA, but is an accomplished boxer and kickboxer. She’s held titles in both sports.

Holm recently improved her MMA record to 4-0 after kicking Allana Jones in the head and knocking her out in a Legacy FC 21 bout. If she keeps improving, UFC’s Dana White will definitely offer her a contract. She’s already proven herself outside the octagon in kickboxing.

Why are we crushing on Holly Holm? We’ve added some photos below and you will soon be enamored with the “Preacher’s Daughter” too. Continue reading

2013 Maxim Hot 100 List

Ashley-Tisdale-Maxim-Hot-100Maxim recently released its annual “Hot 100” list for 2013. It’s usually filled with the usual suspects (Scarlett Johansson, Megan Fox, etc), but they have been known to add in a few up & coming starlets.

Maxim decided to play around with the list this year. They included an attorney general, a fictional girlfriend, and a drunk co-host of a popular morning show. I know that this list isn’t exactly the BCS standings, but I found it very weird.

See who made the list this year and who didn’t. A few ladies from Mad Men didn’t make the cut and a certain lady who’s currently shacking up with Kanye West. I can’t believe that a publication put out a list with 100 females and didn’t include one Kardashian. I finally have hope in humanity! Continue reading

Toy Crazy: 1990s WWF Hasbro Action Figures

wwfhasbroGreenCardI know we all had toys as a kid that either got destroyed or sold by your parents at a yard sale. Well, a lot of those toys go for big money on eBay. In particular, the WWF Hasbro line of toys from the 90’s.

The WWF Hasbro line had figures of recognizable fame (Hulk Hogan, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Bret Hart, Macho Man, etc) and those wrestlers even had multiple versions available to buy.

The action figure line didn’t have big names, it also had little-know personalities as Skinner, The Mountie and ‘The Model’ Rick Martel, but are common and not worth a lot.

Which figures go for over $100 when their MOC (mint on card)? The answer will surprise you. Continue reading

Sports Crush: Amanda Marcum

Amanda+Marcum+Florida+Gulf+Coast+HeaderWe’ve profiled various women in our “Sports Crush” series. Our favorites were UFC’s Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate & U.S. soccer’s Alex Morgan. This is the first time we’re dedicating a post about a lady who isn’t actually an athlete.

Amanda Marcum is the wife of Florida Gulf Coast’s basketball coach Andy Enfield. You may have seen a few pictures of Amanda Marcum before the NCAA Tournament, but did not know her name. She was a model who appeared in Maxim, Stuff and various other magazines.

Due to the current Mrs. Enfield being highlighted in the NCAA Tournament coverage, we’re pulling the trigger and featuring her in a Sports Crush post. We’ve attached a photo gallery to show you why she deserves to be included. Continue reading

The Laettner Shot: The First Time Sports Made Me Cry

LAETTNERThe Christian Laettner shot.

It has been 21 years since it happened, so I think I can finally talk about it.

I have yet to go a month of March without seeing the replay over and over again.

What did I do to deserve this cruel and unusual punishment?

I know I’m not the only person that feels this way. Kentucky basketball has a big following. I doubt Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley or Laettner could step foot in the state of Kentucky without having personal security by their side.

I describe the days before and after the tournament that changed my view of sports. Continue reading

The Best Player Nicknames in Baseball History

Goose+Gossage+MLB+Nicknames+HOFAnyone can have a nickname, it’s easy. If you’re name is William or Robert, you can go by Billy or Bobby. You can even have a nickname that goes with your name. An example of that would be “Quick Nick” or “Slow Joe”. See how easy it is?

Well, people have gotten very lazy with nicknames in my generation. Alex Rodriguez is “A-Rod” and Derek Jeter is often referred to as “Jeets.” You see how lame we’ve become?

We scoured the list of players who have ever played in the Majors and we picked the best of all-time.

Here is our baseball player nicknames ‘Hall of Fame”. Continue reading

NBA: Top 10 Best White Boy Dunks Ever

Josh+McRoberts+Dunk+NBA+White+BoyThe movie “White Men Can’t Jump” didn’t help the stereotype that most white guys are un-athletic.I have had this blog for a few years and I cannot believe that I have never thought of posting ‘white guy slam dunk’ videos. There have been a lot of pale NBA players have graced us with fantastic dunks. Tom Chambers and Rex Chapman had awesome dunks and helped pave the way for Brent Barry to win the Slam Dunk contest…but let’s not fool anyone, the stereotype still exists.

I scoured YouTube in search of the best videos of white boys throwing it down in the NBA. I picked a few iconic dunks and a couple that have happened recently. I excluded many amazing dunks that happened in college, because I could make a top 50 post with those.

Here’s the ten best videos of “white guys dunking in the NBA”…I added a special video at the end. Continue reading

Sports Crush: Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey is more than just a pretty face. She is a mixed-martial artist with a focus on judo. She won the bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She then moved into MMA fighting at the beginning of 2011. She currently holds an undefeated record of 6-0.

She is the first female fighter in the UFC. UFC President Dana White recently awarded her the Bantamweight Championship. She is due to face Liz Carmouche at UFC 157. The fight shares top billing with Dan Henderson vs. Lyoto Machida. Rousey has defeated every opponent in the first round, so please time out your bathroom breaks accordingly.

After Ronda “Rowdy Rousey” defeated a past “sports crush” Miesha Tate, she had my attention. And if she didn’t already have my respect, she went on Jim Rome’s new show and said, “I try to have as much sex as possible before a fight.”

Yep. She’s a keeper. Follow her on Twitter at @RondaRousey.

Here is a picture gallery for our latest sports crush, Ronda Rousey. Continue reading
