2013 Fantasy Baseball: Top 40 Fantasy Sleepers

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays-Photo Day

My site has been flooded with Google search results from people wanting to know which sleeper they can target in their fantasy baseball drafts this season.

There are some great young candidates emerging (Wil Myers, Jurickson Profar) and some veterans picked to have a bounce back year (Josh Beckett, Heath Bell).

Fantasy baseball is going to be really fun this season. There are so many sleepers that could help you win your league this season.

I made a list of the top 40 best sleepers for the 2013 fantasy baseball season. Continue reading

2013 Fantasy Baseball: Top 30 Second Baseman + Sleepers

Robinson+Cano+Yankes+Fantasy+Baseball+Second+BaseSecond Base, as always, is one of the trickiest positions to fill in fantasy baseball. Unlike the corner infield positions, it’s hard to find power and average without missing out on steals.

There are a few elite second baseman, but the position isn’t as deep as 1B, 3B and outfield. If you want a top-tier second baseman, you will have to use a high pick.

Here are the top 30 second baseman for 2013 fantasy baseball season. We even pick a few sleepers and the busts you should avoid!

My rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com. Continue reading

2013 Fantasy Baseball: Top 30 First Baseman + Sleepers

Albert+Pujols+2013+Los+Angeles+Angels+MLBFirst Base is the deepest position in fantasy baseball this year.  A first baseman who swing for the fences are not hard to find in 2013. You add that group with the recent trend of young catchers playing their off days at first base and you understand why this area is so deep.

Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder are in the second year of their American League switch. Will they see a stat increase or will pitchers figure them out?

A group of young first baseman are entering their prime. Will Freddie Freeman, Anthony Rizzo, Eric Hosmer or Ike Davis jump to the next level?

2013 Fantasy Baseball: Top 30 Catchers, Busts & Sleepers

Will Buster Posey, Carlos Santana and Matt Wieters prove again they are the best young catchers in the league or will a new guy emerge to join the group?

How many more years do Victor Martinez, A.J. Pierzynski and Russell Martin have in them? Will one of them drop off?

The catcher position looks fairly top-heavy this year in fantasy baseball. You have a young group on their way up and a few prominent catchers that look to be transitioning into a designated-hitter role. I ranked the top 30 catchers and added some sleepers and busts to help you in your draft.

Twitter: MLB.com Top 100 Prospects

Are you the kind of fan who tracks their favorite MLB team’s minor league prospects from the draft all the way through their MLB debut?

If you are that kind of fan, we list all the Twitter accounts for the Top 100 prospects listed by MLB.com. A few prospects listed do not have a confirmed Twitter account, but that could be from an English translation issue.

An extra benefit from following the top MLB prospects could affect your fantasy baseball team. If you’re looking for an advantage, especially if you’re in a dynasty or keeper league, you’ll find a few nuggets from their Twitter accounts. I assume if one of them finally got called up, they would announce their excitement on Twitter.

Here are all the Twitter accounts (those who have them) from MLB.com’s Top 100 Prospects. Continue reading

2012 Fantasy Football Rankings: Tight Ends

Rob Gronkowski won thousands of people their fantasy football leagues in 2011. He also had a great season off-the-field, for instance, his bye week time with Bibi Jones (see photo). We can’t guarantee that these tight ends will also have a fun weekend with Miss Jones, but we list our top 50 tight ends in fantasy football this season.

Will Peyton Manning use the familiar Jacob Tamme to ease his transition in Denver? Will Andrew Luck do the same with his college teammate Coby Fleener? Continue reading

2012 Fantasy Football Rankings: Wide Receivers

Calvin Johnson is on the cover of the new Madden game, I guess that should factor into my wide receiver rankings…but it doesn’t. Johnson was a stud in 2011 and Matthew Stafford is going to throw even more than he did last season. The Detroit Lions have zero running game and will need to rely on their vertical game to win games. The New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers are also in similar situations.

A few teams have quarterback issues and you wonder if it will hurt the wide receivers fantasy stock. If the Jacksonville Jaguars had an above average quarterback, I would predict a good rookie season from Justin Blackmon, but I don’t trust Blaine Gabbert. Continue reading

2012 Fantasy Football Rankings: Running Backs

The NFL has turned into a pass-first league. The trend has caused a drastic change in fantasy football drafting strategy. The old method was to draft two running backs with your first two selections. They were the most valuable position on your fantasy football team. That is still the case, but the gap is closing.

Teams have went away from having one feature back and most have opted for a two-headed rushing attack. Quarterbacks and wide receivers are gaining value and thanks to Rob Gronkowski, tight ends are creeping into the first two rounds as well. Continue reading

2012 Fantasy Football Rankings: Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady or Drew Brees have been the top fantasy quarterback picks over the last few seasons. The 2012 season is no different. The same trio is at the top of the preseason rankings and all of the usual suspects following them.

The quarterback situations in Seattle, Cleveland, Jacksonville, and Tennessee have left some question marks on where the value is at the quarterback position in fantasy football this season. Can you wait to pick a quarterback or will you have to grab one early or spend $45 dollars in an auction draft to have an elite QB.

We have some surprises for you in our quarterback rankings. I am not sold on Cam Newton this year and I love Philip Rivers more than most people. How will the rookie QBs fare this season?

Here is our Top 50 quarterback rankings for the 2012 NFL fantasy football season. Continue reading

NFL: Early 2012 Fantasy Football Sleepers (Team-By-Team)

If you are a serious fantasy football player, it is time to start researching for sleepers. There is still a lot of off-season left, but the draft is over and most of the impact free agents have already signed. I pick one sleeper on every NFL team and give team-by-team analysis at this point in the off-season.

Some of the choices are no-brainers, but a few of the teams only have very deep sleepers. I didn’t focus much on quarterbacks, since nearly every team has already named a starter for next season. A lot of incoming rookies and slot receivers made the list.

The sleepers I list below consists of running backs, wide receivers and tight ends who could impact their teams and your fantasy league this season. Let me know if you have your own fantasy football sleeper that didn’t make the list. I will make sure to give you credit when I update this list during training camp. Continue reading
