2014 Fantasy Football Sleepers – Training Camp Edition

legarrette blount pittsburgh steelers 2014 fantasy footbal sleepersThe lull of the Summer has ended. NFL Players are reporting to training camp and I’m drooling all over my keyboard.

I know you guys are waiting for me to write my yearly over/under post, but I’m waiting a few more weeks before I feel comfortable making my final predictions. In the mean time, head over to SportsBettingInfo.com and glance over the lines.

This post is all about fantasy football sleepers. I’ve sorted them by position to make it easier to look through. I’ve mixed in the deep sleepers with ‘these players aren’t properly ranked’ sleepers. I’ve been pretty successful with my sleepers in the past and I hope to keep my hot streak intact.

Here are my early sleepers for the 2014 fantasy football season.

2014 MLB Team Preview: Chicago White Sox

It’s going to be a long season for Chicago baseball teams. We all know the Cubs were in a performance lull, but the White Sox fell from AL Central contenders to the division basement in 2013.

Chicago made a big splash this offseason by trading Addison Reed to Arizona for young hitters Adam Eaton and Matt Davidson. They also signed Jose Abreu, possibly the best hitter to come out of Cuba in a long time (sorry Yoenis Cespedes).

Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko both look near the end of their careers. Do they have one final elite season in them or are they running on fumes?

Will Robin Ventura last the entire season as manager?

Here is the 2014 MLB season preview for the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 4

Peyton Manning Colin Kaepernick FantasyFantasy football reared her ugly head last weekend. You had some stars suffering bad fantasy weeks and some bench players coming up big.

The bye weeks begin this week with the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers sitting this week out. Fantasy owners will need to replace Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Reggie Cobb, Steve Smith, Jordy Nelson and James Jones in their lineups.

I hope I helped out fantasy owners last week. I had some good calls (Snelling, Moreno, Cameron), but missed on Pierre Garcon. I feel confident this week’s edition of Fantasy Football Start/Sit will help fantasy owners win in Week 4. Continue reading

Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 3

jay-cutler-kristin-cavallariWeek 2 was a bounce back week for many stars who disappointed in the first week of the season. You had players like James Jones, Pierre Garcon and Calvin Johnson all had big fantasy weeks after having a subpar Week 1.

I hope I helped out fantasy owners last week. I had some good calls, but missed on Garcon and Lacy (due to injury). I feel confident that this week’s edition of Fantasy Football Start/Sit will help fantasy owners win in Week 3.

Will Reggie Bush and Ray Rice play this weekend? Is Roddy White still a decoy? Will Trent Richardson contribute right away for the Colts? We try to answer those questions and many more. Continue reading

Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 2

reggie-bush-girlfriend-lions-fantasy-footballStars shined in Week 1 of the fantasy football season, but not every star helped your fantasy team (I’m pointing at you, Roddy White). A few fantasy sleepers also put up good numbers and helped many teams in Week 1. Julius Thomas and Harry Douglas definitely helped their teams.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

Can Reggie Bush keep up the stellar fantasy numbers? Continue reading

2013 Fantasy Football: Top 15 Defense/ST Rankings

JJ-Watt-Crashes-A-Bachorlette-Party-Funny-Fantasy-FootballOver the past ten seasons, it’s rare that the preseason favorite DEF/ST team ends up on top at season’s end, but we do our best to rank the top 15 defenses and special teams for the 2013 NFL season.

With the addition of Percy Harvin, the Seattle Seahawks will be a tough team to pass up in the mid-rounds of your fantasy draft. I know defenses shouldn’t normally picked before the late, late rounds, but I expect big things from Richard Sherman and the rest of the defense…oh, and Percy Harvin possibly running back kickoffs & punts.

Here are our top 15 defense & special teams rankings for the 2013 NFL season. Continue reading

Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski has been the hot picks at tight end the last two seasons, but will Gronk’s recent surgeries hurt his fantasy stock?

Julio-Jones-Fantasy-Football-FunnyHere we go again. NFL training camps are right around the corner and we start to focus on fantasy football. It’s never to early to begin studying, right?

Calvin Johnson had a better statistical season than Jerry Rice and Randy Moss last season. Do you think he’ll regress in 2013? Nope, not a chance.

The #2 spot is up for grabs with A.J. Green, Julio Jones and Brandon Marshall the consensus favorite to be ranked at that spot.

Here are our Top 50 Running Backs rankings for the upcoming 2013 NFL season. Continue reading

2013 Fantasy Football: Top 40 Running Back Rankings

adrian-peterson-orange-peanut-01252013It’s never too early to start studying for the upcoming 2013 Fantasy Football season. The NFL is now a year-long sport with off-season, draft and training camp spread out throughout the year.

We all know who will be #1 in our running back rankings, it’s a no-brainer. After the year Adrian Peterson had last season, I see no reason why he couldn’t duplicate or exceed his 2012 campaign.

Will any rookies crack our Top 40 Running Backs list? Here are our rankings of the top 40 running backs for the 2013 NFL season. Continue reading

2013 Fantasy Football: Top 25 Quarterback Rankings

Drew+Brees+Carlton+Fresh+Prince+FunnyIt’s never too early to pontificate and post preseason fantasy football rankings.

As you may know, the top of the rankings are full of the usual suspects (Brees, Brady, Manning), but a few new faces pop up at the tail end of our rankings.

Colin Kaepernick is a “sexy” name for fantasy football analysts this offseason, but will he succumb to the ‘Super Bowl Runner-Up Jinx’.

Here are our Top 25 quarterback rankings for the 2013 fantasy football season. Continue reading

"The Dark Knight Rises": Would Hines Ward’s TD Count in Fantasy Football?

“The Dark Knight Rises” opens today and I’ll be one of the many people who will pack in a movie theater to watch this instant classic…but there’s something in the movie trailer that made me very curious.

First, why is Hines Ward in this movie (seriously). Secondly, would his touchdown count in fantasy football?

I know what you’re thinking, “Wow, Bobby…you really have fantasy football on your brain.” It’s true, I’ve been working on a lot of fantasy material for the site, but it’s a legitimate question.

Gotham is full of some sketchy characters. You know that sports gambling is rampant. Fantasy football has to be a multi-billion dollar industry in the DC Universe.

In our universe, we get mad when Brian Westbrook takes a knee at the goal line.

Let’s examine the photo of Ward’s touchdown. He has crossed the plane and clearly has possession. The only problem is that he is the only remaining player from either team not sucked down the sinkhole. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the game would be cancelled due to neither team being able to field a full team…oh, and the field is no longer there.

The touchdown wouldn’t count. The game wouldn’t be official since it didn’t last all four quarters.

This may cause a major uproar in the local Gotham City Fantasy Football League, but maybe Batman help settle the issue (you know, after he’s finished saving the city from being completely destroyed by Bane and Catwoman).

If you haven’t seen the trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises”, I’ve embedded it below.

NFL: Early 2012 Fantasy Football Sleepers (Team-By-Team)

If you are a serious fantasy football player, it is time to start researching for sleepers. There is still a lot of off-season left, but the draft is over and most of the impact free agents have already signed. I pick one sleeper on every NFL team and give team-by-team analysis at this point in the off-season.

Some of the choices are no-brainers, but a few of the teams only have very deep sleepers. I didn’t focus much on quarterbacks, since nearly every team has already named a starter for next season. A lot of incoming rookies and slot receivers made the list.

The sleepers I list below consists of running backs, wide receivers and tight ends who could impact their teams and your fantasy league this season. Let me know if you have your own fantasy football sleeper that didn’t make the list. I will make sure to give you credit when I update this list during training camp. Continue reading
