2013-14 College Football: Bowl Projections

PrintWe are in the homestretch of the college football regular season. Some teams are still in the hunt for a national championship, but most are just playing to get in a prime bowl game…or trying to earn a sixth win to just be bowl-eligible.

There are 35 bowl games this year, so 70 spots are up for grabs. Not every team that wins six games will play in a bowl game. As of today, 65 teams are already eligible, with most teams still having two games left.

We project the teams that will play in all 35 bowl games this year. Many bowl games are shaping up to be fun to watch. We can’t wait to pick these games against the spread…that will come much later.

Fantasy Basketball: Week 3 – Top 10 Waiver Wire Pickups

Alec-Burks-Utah-Jazz-NBA-FantasyFantasy basketball just finished its second week of play. We are starting to figure out which players will get minutes and a few players who will benefit from an early season injury.

I know fantasy basketball isn’t as widely-played as fantasy football and baseball, but it’s a fun game. You have to work the lineups daily like baseball, but need to keep a close eye on how many games a team plays that week.

We look at some of the players who weren’t drafted in most leagues, but are now worth a pickup.

Our list is loaded with guys on bad teams. Yes, a fantasy stud can be on a bad NBA team.

Hockey Talk: Norwegian League Hockey Player Busts A Move [VIDEO]

Adrian-Alvarstein-Dancing-HockeyWhile Joe and Eddie pay off their malt liquor 40 ouncer vs. 2-liter of Mountain Dew Code Red bet on tonight’s Red Wings game, Sweetbob is here to give you today’s edition of Hockey Talk.

I watched tonight’s episode of ESPN’s ‘Olbermann’ (I love this show, especially since a buddy of mine was called out during his ‘Worst Persons In The Sports World’ segment). He aired a video of Adrian Alvarstine, a player in the Norwegian League’s second division, busting out some dance moves after a win.

Since I love a good hockey video, I’ll share the video of Alvarstein doing his best impression of a character in the movie ‘Beat Street’.

Don’t worry, I also throw in one of my favorite NHL ice girl videos. We have an equal time rule here.

Hockey Talk: Top 10 Goalie Fights [VIDEO]

NHL-Goalie-Fight-HockeyJoe and Eddie are still mourning the Detroit Tigers season, so ‘America’s White Boy’ founder Sweetbob is here to fill-in for the guys.

To commemorate the Ray Emery/Braden Holtby fight last week, I decided to make a list of the top goalie fights with videos of each fight.

Sadly, I have only seen one goalie fight in person. It was over a decade ago during a Fort Wayne Komets game. I don’t remember the names of the goalies or the other team involved. I was able to cross it off my bucket list, but I want to see more. I would pay $500 for a ticket to a hockey game if they guaranteed a goalie fight would happen.

Here is a list of the top 10 goalie fights listed in no particular order. Enjoy!

Fantasy Basketball: Top 10 Waiver Wire Pickups

Miles-Plumlee-NBA-Phoenix-SunsFantasy basketball just finished its first week of play.

The names on this list may surprise you. Two awkward white guys who used to be glued to the Indiana Pacers bench and a player who we all assumed was fantasy irrelevant made the list.

Danny Granger Out Three Weeks with Calf Strain

Danny-Granger-Indiana-Pacers-FunnyIndiana Pacers small forward Danny Granger will miss three week after straining his left calf.

The former All-Star is coming back from knee surgery, so Pacers fans can breathe a sigh of relief that it’s not another knee injury.

Granger’s injury will open up more playing time for Lance Stephenson, who filled in admirably in Granger’s absence last season. New roster additions Chris Copeland and rookie Solomon Hill will also see a bump in minutes.

The Indiana Pacers are one of the favorites in the Eastern Conference to dethrone defending NBA Champions, the Miami Heat.

They have plenty of competition this season. Miami signed key bench players, the Chicago Bulls have former MVP Derrick Rose back this season and the Brooklyn Nets added Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

Kevin Love Wins ‘Whitest White NBA Player’ Award

Kevin-Love-White-Guy-AwardI read this story and I knew it needed mention on the site.

In a preseason survey of all 30 NBA general managers, the NBA asks an odd question…but one they have asked many times previously.

“Which player makes the most of limited natural ability?”

Oh yes, that’s a real question. That sounds like something we would ask an NBA GM on a podcast.

Well, Kevin Love was the overwhelming answer to that question (he also won last preseason). He has actually won this distinction numerous times. Who are some of the players who also received votes in for this year’s ‘most unathletic, productive NBA player’ award? We list some of the names…and yes, you will not be shocked by the players who landed on this list.

Adam Scott Wins 2013 Masters

adam-scott-mustache-mastersAustralian golfer Adam Scott outlasted Argentinian Angel Cabrera to win the 2013 Masters in a playoff. He becomes the first Aussie to win the golf’s most-prestigious event.

Scott, 32, is best known for his collapse at last year’s British Open and for having Tiger Woods ex-caddie, Stevie Williams by his side.

He can now walk around with a green jacket and instantly gain respect…even if he wears sweatpants (I’m jealous).

For the casual golf fans who only care about Tiger Woods, he finished tied for fourth (-5).

Yes, I know this Adam Scott is not the same as the actor best known for his work on “Parks & Recreation” and “Party Down”, but I love this damn picture so much.
