2016 NFL Week 1 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I can’t believe the wait is almost over! NFL season begins on Thursday and I will be glued to the couch all weekend watching football games. It will be glorious.

I’ve went 414-311-28 combined in the past three years picking NFL games against the spread. I’ve been posting my picks for the last six or sevenyears, but really only kept a running total in recent years.

Week 1 is a tricky betting week. You can watch all the preseason football games you want and never get a feel for what the team will look like in their first regular season game.

2016 Fantasy Football Rankings – Top 75 Wide Receivers

I don’t know if you’ve read the memo, but the NFL is a passing league. It has been a passing league for quite awhile and wide receivers have been slowly creeping up higher and higher in fantasy football drafts.

Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald were once the only two wide receivers, for quite awhile, that a fantasy owner would even consider drafting in the first round. A lot has changed.

If you go by most fantasy mock drafts, wide receivers dominate the first round. Many drafts even have the first four picks dedicated to wide receivers. Pittsburgh’s Antonio Brown will be the number #1 overall pick in nearly every fantasy draft this season. The position is quite top-heavy, yet deep.

2016 NFL Divisional Playoff Games – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 6-2 with my NFL picks against the spread and over/under picks last weekend. I went 3-1 against the spread and 3-1 with my over/under picks. I believe I should have been 4-0 ATS, but Big Ben was nearly murdered by Vontaze Burfict…but you can’t predict injuries, so it is was it is.

Three of the four playoff games are being played outdoors this weekend, so check weather reports before kickoff. Denver, Charlotte and Foxborough are all supposed to be clear skies and relatively pleasant this weekend.

The road teams won all four playoff games last weekend. Will the trend continue?

2016 NFL Wild Card Playoff Games – Betting Picks Against Spread

I limped into the postseason a bit after having a few .500 weeks to end the year. The last two weeks are always pretty hard to handicap, so I don’t feel too bad about staying even.

Three of the four playoff games are being played outdoors, so check weather reports before kickoff. Minnesota is supposed to be bitterly cold, so it could play a factor.

Will the teams that finished hot this year stay hot when the pressure is on?

Will two teams redeem themselves after being blown out by their opponents earlier in the season?

2015 NFL Week 17 – Betting Picks Against Spread

The Carolina Panthers had their bid for a perfect season end against Atlanta. My bid for the perfect betting season ended in Week 1, so Cam shouldn’t pout too much about his ending in Week 16!

It is important to look at potential playoff scenarios before placing any bets. A few top teams have already cemented their spot in the playoffs, so a team like the Washington Redskins could sit their starting quarterback. Also, there will be a few teams that will bench their kind-of-banged-up stars this week.

Will we finish strong heading into the NFL playoffs? We’ve had a pretty good season so far, so we hope to have a solid Week 17.

2015 NFL Week 16 – Betting Picks Against Spread

After killing it for nearly a month, I’ve went .500 in back-to-back weeks. I’m glad that this week is almost entirely made up of division games. You have some history to go off from and are a little more predictable.

The one major thing I make sure to study this late in the year is the standings and injury reports. A lot of teams that don’t have much left to play for can be cautious with their young players and keep them out of games. Also, some teams that are near the bottom of the league could end up tanking. I don’t see much tanking this year, so that’s a good thing.

After a close game last weekend, can Carolina stay perfect against the Atlanta Falcons?

2015 NFL Week 14 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Last week, I had a weird week picking against the spread. I missed some early games, but then my picks were hitting non-stop. I even picked the Philly moneyline in the New England/Philadelphia game. That kind of negated any early losses.

I went 10-5-1 last week against the spread. I’m on a four-straight ‘strong week’ streak. I want to thank the bookmakers for the lack of double-digit point spreads so far this season. It seemed like they were all double-digits by this time last season.

2015 NFL Week 12 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Injuries have hit some key players across the NFL. Nearly every team has a glaring issue at one or more positions at this point. The injury report becomes more important as the season moves along.

I went 10-3-1 last week against the spread. I’ve had back-to-back monster weeks. I even hit on two moneyline plays last week that paid out pretty nice (Colts & Bucs).

New England Patriots receivers are dropping like flies. Is this the week the perfect season comes to an end?

2015 NFL Week 10 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Vegas really cleaned up last week. Some analysts say as much as 80% of the money last week was on Atlanta, Denver and Pittsburgh. All three of those teams lost against the spread.

I went 5-8 last week against the spread. It was my first week this season that I was under .500 picking NFL games against the spread. Who the hell thought Blaine Gabbert would win an NFL game as a starting quarterback?

Can the New York Giants play the role of the party pooper once again and end New England’s perfect season?

2015 NFL Week 9 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I started out missing last week’s Thursday game, but then didn’t miss on a single early Sunday game. I actually came out on the right side of a half-point outcome.

I went 9-3-1 against the spread last week. I even hit on underdog moneylines with Oakland and Cincinnati. They weren’t huge payouts, but it was icing on a strong week of picks.

Sunday afternoon may end up being Peyton Manning’s last game in Indianapolis. Will he cover?

2015 NFL Week 7 – Betting Picks Against Spread

As a Colts fan, I was utterly embarrassed by the ‘snapfu’ fake punt they tried to convert against the Patriots on Sunday night. I’m beginning to think it wouldn’t be a bad idea if the Colts let head coach Chuck Pagano walk after this season.

I went 7-6-1 against the spread last week. I hit on a couple underdog moneylines and the Colts backdoor cover helped me out a bit.

It’s getting close to the time in which weather becomes a factor. It doesn’t appear that it will affect the games this weekend, but it will become an issue soon.

2015 NFL Week 3 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Week 2 was rough on many sports bettors across the world. It’s tough to go against how you thought a team would perform so far this season. You can’t completely ditch a team, but you still need to be focus on how a team has performed so far. Week 3 is a rubber week and you can find a lot of value.

I went 8-8 last week against the spread. I missed on some early games, but redeemed myself with a few moneyline plays. I may have finished .500, but I was still in the money.

I would have never thought Philadelphia, Seattle and Indianapolis would all be winless. They could all be undervalued this week…well, two of three teams.
