What are the Playoff Expections for the Indiana Pacers?

The Indiana Pacers come into the weekend winners of six of their last seven games. They have three games left to play in the regular season and can be no worse than the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

As the Pacers surge towards the postseason, the same could be said for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers. The Cavs have won nine of their last ten games and the Sixers have won twelve-straight games. Even though the Pacers have been playing great, they have barely kept up with them. They still have a shot at the third or fourth seed if either team loses the next two or three of their remaining games.

Sportsbooks currently have the Pacers odds of winning the Eastern Conference at 50 to 1 and even longer odds of 175 to 1 of winning their first NBA Championship.

The Ten Worst NBA Contracts Signed this Offseason (So Far)

Solomon Hill 2016 NBA offseason bad contractsWe knew this NBA offseason would have a lot of buzz since many top players would hit free agency on July 1st and the fact that the salary cap will hit a historic high of $94.143 million for the 2016-17 season.

Even though we expected a lot of money to be thrown around, it just didn’t really sink in until we saw the quality of players getting such huge contracts.

This list isn’t an indictment on the players getting literally a ton of cash, but an indictment on the owners spending frivolously. I guarantee their actions during the first few days of the 2016 NBA offseason will make them cry poor when this labor agreement expires. I have a feeling they may need another amnesty clause if spending continues this recklessly.

Chris Bosh’s Season Might Be Over

Chris Bosh blood clots Miami Heat 2016Chris Bosh sat out NBA All-Star Weekend, but did travel to attend events in Toronto. He seemed in good spirits, but there must have been a cloud hanging over his head.

Bosh is officially listed as being out with a strained calf. There’s usually no red flag associated with such a minor injury. Well, there could be more to this injury.

The rumor coming out of All-Star Weekend is that Bosh is once again dealing with a very serious blood clot issue. It was almost exactly a year ago that doctors found blood clots in one of his lungs last season.

Bosh missed the remainder of the 2014-15 season. His season this year could as well be over if doctors find more blood clots in the power forward. Blood clots are serious and could have life-altering effects.

Where Will Josh Smith End Up?

Josh Smith cut detroit pistons nba sad houston rocketsJosh Smith finally ‘perimeter shot’ his way out of Detroit. The Pistons decided to cut him and if he clears waivers (and he will), they will be on the hook for the remainder of his contract…a hefty $26 million.

Head coach and team president Stan Van Gundy put his foot down with this move. Smith could get away with poorly shooting long jumpers when his head coach wasn’t involved with personnel. Detroit has a long way to go to rebuild. Dumping Smith was a smart, long-term decision for the franchise.

Even though Josh Smith is one of the worst players in the NBA, teams are lining up to sign him once he clears waivers.

Title contenders will be at the top of the list, since he will most likely sign a one-year deal and then hit free agency this offseason.

Which NBA team will land Josh Smith?

2014-15 NBA Team Preview: Miami Heat

Josh McRoberts Miami Heat funny weird NBALeBron James took his ball and went home…and Miami fans should thank him. If you like actual basketball (not that non-stop isolation offense crap), you’re going to love this team. Also, since you got rid of LeBron, you probably got rid of most of the bandwagon fans who did nothing but jack up the price of tickets (and cause the remainder of NBA fans to hate your fanbase).

Miami probably won’t be in the NBA Finals this season, but I like the team they put together. They spent their cap money pretty well. They may have overpaid Chris Bosh, but we’ll see what kind of player he is without LeBron. He could be worth every penny.

We will be posting a team preview for every team up until the start of the regular season.

Here is the 2014-15 NBA season preview for the Miami Heat.

2014 NBA Championship Betting Odds

Tim Duncan Funny San Antonio Spurs NBA Championship OddsNow that the NBA regular season is over, ‘real’ basketball begins. We will no longer hear about tanking or listen to Bill Simmons flip every NBA discussion into something Boston Celtics-related.

The NBA Playoffs should be fun this year. The Miami Heat have looked vulnerable during the regular season. There’s handful of teams that have a realistic shot at winning the Larry O’Brien trophy.

The first round has some nice matchups. Warriors/Clippers, Grizzlies/Thunder and Trail Blazers/Rockets all have my interest peaked.

Can the Pacers rebound from a late-season slump?

Here are the 2014 NBA Championship betting odds.

Can Pacers Still Win NBA Championship?

Lance Stephenson Indiana Pacers 2014 NBA ContendersIt has been a tale of two seasons for the Indiana Pacers. They began the season playing like the best team in the NBA, but they’ve hit a wall since the trade deadline.

Thanks to the Miami Heat’s recent struggles, the Pacers find themselves with the best record in the Eastern Conference. They have been an average team since early February.

Indiana was the best defensive team in the NBA, but have allowed multiple 100+ point games in the past few weeks. Paul George and Roy Hibbert haven’t played like All-Stars and the addition of Andrew Bynum, Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen haven’t made the team better.

Can the Pacers hold off the Miami Heat and keep the #1 seed in the East?

Do they match up well with the top five teams in the NBA?

Greg Oden to sign with Miami Heat

Greg-Oden-Miami-HeatFormer Ohio State standout and #1 overall NBA Draft pick, Greg Oden decided which NBA team he chose to sign a contact. He’s going to the back-to-back NBA Champion Miami Heat.

Even though Oden has only played 82 NBA games and had three microfracture on his knees, teams were still drooling over him. The San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Pelicans and Miami Heat were the three front-runners to sign him.

Time will tell how much Oden can contribute to a team, but his two-year minimum contract is a no-risk deal for any NBA team. If he can play a few minutes a game, he can help bolster Miami’s weak front court.

Brandon Roy, Oden’s teammate in Portland, tried to come back last season from similar knee surgeries, but only played a handful of games with Minnesota after signing with them last offseason. His knees couldn’t hold up to the daily grind of the NBA season. He was released by Minnesota and it doesn’t look likely that he will play in the NBA again.

We wish Oden the best and want him to succeed, but the smart money is Oden wears a suit on the sideline for most of the season.

(My MS Paint skills are still on point. Expect many more photos edited in MS Paint in the near future…they make me laugh.)

Smart Bet: Indiana Pacers’ Eastern Conference Win

Paul+George+Indiana+Pacers+All-StarAre you looking for an NBA postseason bet that still has value? Pretty difficult, right?

The Miami Heat are on a terrific winning streak, but it could end at the end on Sunday when the Indiana Pacers play in Miami.

Betting against Lebron James takes a lot of guts, but there’s no value in any postseason Miami Heat bet. The Heat’s odds to win the Eastern Conference (-300) and their NBA Championship odds are (-110). Do you really want to tie up your money for three months in a bet that doesn’t win you much money?

I’ll explain why an Indiana Pacers bet to win the Eastern Conference is the smartest bet for the NBA Playoffs. Continue reading

Miami Heat’s “Harlem Shake” Video

Harlem-ShakeWe posted the Columbus Blue Jackets’ “Harlem Shake” video a few weeks ago and the Miami Heat knocked their attempt out of the water.

The video starts with Chris “The Birdman” Andersen (otherwise known as “the white guy with the tattoos”) flying around Miami’s locker room. Then it jumps to a scene where everybody is breaking a piece off. Lebron James has a king hat, Chris Bosh is looking goofy as ever, and (I think) Dwyane  Wade is in the bear’s head.

I want to hate the Heat, but with videos like this, it’s hard.

Suck It Lebron, Cleveland Awarded Lingerie Football Team

Lebron may have taken his talents to South Beach, but the Lingerie Football League awarded an expansion team to Cleveland. They were also looking at Columbus, but Cleveland beat them out. I am sad that they didn’t pick Columbus, since I would be a season-ticket holder, but a drive up to Cleveland may need to happen. I did some research on this league and found out some facts that people need to know…also I posted some pictures of some of the players. This could be my most-read post once this is all said and done. Oh, and yes, the Cleveland Crush will be playing at Quicken Loans Arena. Continue reading
