2017 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 9

Another week with six teams on bye. We only have to deal with byes for two more weeks. The last two weeks have been crazy since so many elite fantasy players have had the week off.

Chicago, Cleveland, L.A. Chargers, Minnesota, New England and Pittsburgh are off this week. You will need to find replacements for studs like Steelers WR Antonio Brown and Patriots QB Tom Brady.

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 9 of the 2017 NFL season…and enjoy our weird magnificent MS Paint masterpiece of Bills QB Tyrod Taylor.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

Unlucky Colts Should Bail on Season

The Indianapolis Colts are currently 2-6 and have lost their last three games. The rest of the AFC South have exciting, young players and the Colts roster is just flat. They currently have one of the longest betting odds to win the Super Bowl. It could be just a matter of weeks before they are eliminated from playoff contention.

I realize the dumpster fires in Cleveland and San Francisco make the Colts look alright, but they are possibly the worst-coached team in the NFL. Indy head coach Chuck Pagano struggles to keep his team motivated. They are lucky to play three quarters a week and they find creative ways to lose games. They are long overdue for a head coaching change.

The silver lining to the early season troubles has always been that QB Andrew Luck was supposed to play soon. Well, it looks like Luck could miss the rest of the season due to lingering shoulder issues. He needed a cortisone shot shortly after a few days of throwing a football. Luck is ‘not close’ to returning to practice anytime soon.

How Important Are Backup Quarterbacks in the NFL?

There are many factors why a team doesn’t put ‘backup quarterback’ high on their shopping list in the offseason or for the NFL Draft. Teams can be hamstrung by the salary cap, lack of quality draft picks and limited roster spots.

If you look at the 2017 NFL season so far, 14 teams have had to use their backup quarterback on at least one drive this season. Most of those were due to injury and Houston/Cleveland/San Francisco had to change quarterbacks due to ineffectiveness.

Injuries to starting quarterbacks have also wreaked havoc on NFL betting odds for the season. Just last week there were three games that had their betting lines delayed by days due to the questions about a quarterback’s health.

How much equity (roster spot, salary, high draft pick) should an NFL team use on a backup quarterback today?

2017 NFL Week 4 – Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 9-7 last week against the spread.

As many of you know, I’m a Colts fan. I’m often quite overly negative and pessimistic about the team. I’m not happy that Andrew Luck will miss this marquee game against the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. Russell Wilson and Luck has only faced each other one other time and it may be a few more years until they play each other again.

When Luck had his shoulder surgery, I never heard a single word that the recovery would eat into the regular season. It wasn’t until the Summer and we heard that hey may not be ready for the start of the season and now it looks like he may be out another few weeks. It just blows that we have to see Jacoby Brissett in Luck’s spot in what I expect to be a blowout.

Can Cam Newton break out of his slump and upset the reigning Super Bowl champions?

We pick ever NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 4 of the 2017 NFL season.

2017 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 3

It’s only Week 3, but many fantasy teams are already in midseason form…injured with the dubious ‘questionable’ tag attached to at least one player. Even though the NFL has all but eliminated ‘probable’ in hopes of less last-minute injury decisions, it just can’t be prevented.

One of the biggest injuries to occur last weekend was when Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen broke a bone in his foot. He will be out for at least two months while he heals. Rookie RB Christian McCaffrey will benefit from more targets. QB Cam Newton needs a new reliable target and he could be that guy for short range dump passes.

Did you pick up any sleepers this week that will hope to pay off?

Who will emerge from Seattle’s crowded backfield this week?

We help navigate the many decisions you need to make going into the second week of fantasy football.

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 3 of the 2017 NFL season.

2017 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 2

I hit on some really nice suggestions last week. I was one of the few people out there to scream the praises of Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp. He was a stud at Eastern Washington and brought his tight routes and sticky hands to the NFL.

I hope Mr. Kupp enjoys my amazing awkward MS Paint sKiLLz.

Did the sleepers you drafted pay off Week 1? Did you already dump those guys?

Who will takeover for injured Arizona RB David Johnson and Jacksonville WR Allen Robinson?

We help navigate the many decisions you need to make going into the second week of fantasy football.

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 2 of the 2017 NFL season.

2016 NFL Week 17 – Betting Picks Against Spread

matt mcgloin Week 17 Oakland Raiders playoffs NFL YODAI finished 9-7 last week and suffered a few bad beats. I want to end the regular season with a strong week, but Week 17 is usually a crap shoot.

I’ve spent the last couple days battling a horrible flu. I did have a chance to study who may sit Week 17. I also explain which teams still have something to play for this Sunday.

A lot of weird stuff happens during the last week of the season. We are almost guaranteed to have some receiver or running back have 200+ yards or some backup quarterback pull a ‘Matt Flynn’ and throw for a ton of yards. Can Raiders backup QB Matt McGloin be this year’s Week 17 surprise?

We pick ever NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 17 of the 2016 NFL season.

2016 NFL Week 14 – Betting Picks Against Spread

andrew-luck-americas-white-boy-week-14-nfl-picks-against-the-spreadYour boy had a rough week. I finished 6-9 and really whiffed on some of the early games. I’d like to thank the Colts for making sure I didn’t end up with ten losses last week.

I’m going to write it off as just having a bad week. I think many of the teams will bounce back this week. Vegas catches up with teams this time of the year, especially when teams are playing in-division rivals for the second time.

I’ll rolling the dice with quite a few road teams this week. I think there are a lot of 50/50 games that could come down to the last few plays, so that explains why there are so many tight points spreads. Let’s hope for some covers this weekend.

We pick ever NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 14 of the 2016 NFL season.

2016 NFL Week 5 – Betting Picks Against Spread

nfl-week-5-picks-against-the-spread-americas-white-boy-gambling-odell-beckham-new-york-giantsI finished with a 9-6 record on the week and hit on a couple sweet moneylines, so I’m a happy man.

A quarter of the season is in the books and there’s two teams that have no business being over .500 (Ravens and Rams). I don’t think either will fare well this weekend.

I’ve been hovering around .500 this year and I currently sit at 30-30-3 on the season. I hope to widen the gap between wins and losses. I feel pretty good about this week’s picks.

2016 NFL Week 4 – Betting Picks Against Spread

funny-ryan-fitzpatrick-poofy-hair-americas-white-boy-picks-against-the-spread-week-4-nfl-new-york-jets-beardI finished with a 8-8 record on the week after laying some stinker bets on the late games on Sunday.

I think it’s now time to start looking at win/loss records. Make sure you look at the opponents because there are at least one weak 3-0 team out there (Ravens).

I’ve been treading water so far this season. I’ve been hovering around .500 every week, but have fell victim to some bad beats and half-point losses. I still feel like I have a good grasp of these teams right now and I’ll start hitting some big weeks soon.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 4 of the 2016 NFL season.

2016 NFL Week 2 – Betting Picks Against Spread

funny-nfl-picks-against-the-spread-week-2-2016-americas-white-boyI didn’t start off the year very well. I stuck my neck out and made some risky picks for large point spread covers. None of the larger point spreads covers hit and I was left with a 6-8-2 record on the week.

I gained a lot of knowledge from last week’s games. There are still a lot of question marks this week, but don’t get stuck in some of the team trends from last season. It’s a new season and teams are fresh (and a little rusty). A team may make adjustments and be much better this week.

There can be a lot of value in Week 2 point spreads. The public tends to take a little too much stock in what they saw in the first week. Preseason team rankings will come in handy this week, since a lot of losing teams will bounce back end up 1-1 after this week.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 2 of the 2016 NFL season.

2016 NFL Week 1 – Betting Picks Against Spread

funny-2016-americas-white-boy-picks-sgainst-spread-nfl-gambling-kitty-cat-photoI can’t believe the wait is almost over! NFL season begins on Thursday and I will be glued to the couch all weekend watching football games. It will be glorious.

I’ve went 414-311-28 combined in the past three years picking NFL games against the spread. I’ve been posting my picks for the last six or sevenyears, but really only kept a running total in recent years.

Week 1 is a tricky betting week. You can watch all the preseason football games you want and never get a feel for what the team will look like in their first regular season game.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 1 of the 2016 NFL season.
