The 20 Best Emo Songs of All-Time

JImmy Eat World Jim Adkins best emo songs of all-timeWe’ve all either liked a girl/boy that didn’t like us back or were dumped in a brutal fashion. Emo music is needed during those times. Our grandparents had sad Elvis songs, our parents had The Cure and we had our generation of sappy songs, emo.

I could have easily added bands like The Smiths, The Cure and Joy Division to this list, but I tried to put the focus narrowly to the mid-90’s to mid-00’s range. I feel like that is the time frame in which true nationwide emo music originated and sort of died.

Emo music came into form when the second-wave of punk hit America. It kind of started about the same time. Emo hit the D.C. area in the mid-80’s, but didn’t hit everywhere until Sunny Day Real Estate and Jawbreaker became popular with college kids.

We list the best 20 emo rock songs of all-time by 20 different bands…we also post YouTube videos of every song on the list.

Another Year, Another Boring NBA Trade Deadline

Lance Stephenson trade memphis grizzlies los angeles clippers NBA trade deadlineI’m not sure why I always feel a rush of anticipation when the NBA trade deadline approaches.

We hear all these juicy rumors of big names being shopped around and more times than not, the deals never materialize.

In the days approaching Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, we heard names like Dwight Howard, Blake Griffin and Kevin Love being discussed in mega-trades. Those guys are still with their original teams and guys like Chu Chu Maduabum, who isn’t even employed anywhere in the world right now, were involved in trades.

We breakdown the few trades of note that took place at the trade deadline and the few days before.

Chris Bosh’s Season Might Be Over

Chris Bosh blood clots Miami Heat 2016Chris Bosh sat out NBA All-Star Weekend, but did travel to attend events in Toronto. He seemed in good spirits, but there must have been a cloud hanging over his head.

Bosh is officially listed as being out with a strained calf. There’s usually no red flag associated with such a minor injury. Well, there could be more to this injury.

The rumor coming out of All-Star Weekend is that Bosh is once again dealing with a very serious blood clot issue. It was almost exactly a year ago that doctors found blood clots in one of his lungs last season.

Bosh missed the remainder of the 2014-15 season. His season this year could as well be over if doctors find more blood clots in the power forward. Blood clots are serious and could have life-altering effects.

Sports Crush: Paige VanZant

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush’ posts since we launched ‘America’s White Boy.’ We have spotlighted a few UFC women fighters (Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate). The response has been fantastic, so we decided to profile an up & coming fighter who is currently on fire in the UFC, Paige VanZant.

VanZant is a ranked in the Strawweight division in the UFC. She’s only 21 years old and has a 6-2 MMA record. After winning her first three fights in the UFC, she recently lost to Rose Namajunas on a UFC Fight Night in December.

She’s an extremely marketable commodity in the UFC due to her ability in the octagon and her beauty.

Once you see Paige VanZant, you’ll know why we’re crushing on her.

Will Braun Strowman Succeed in WWE?

braun strowman wwe wyatt familyWe at America’s White Boy are huge fans of the WWE and professional wrestling as a whole. I myself have been a fan since I can remember. I went to my first show when I was barely old enough to go to school.

We like to write about the potential of either new wrestlers or new stables. We wrote something about The Wyatt Family a few years ago and after a failed attempt by the WWE to break up the stable, they are now stronger than ever. They have recently added a new wrestler to the ‘family’, Braun Strowman.

He’s huge (6’8) and a former strongman. He has all the makings of a future monster in the WWE.

Strowman is an anomaly in the ‘NXT Era’ since he never appeared on NXT television, but did work house shows and train at the WWE Performance Center.

Best Bets: Early 2016 World Series Futures

miguel sano byron buxton minnesota twinsPitchers and catchers are due to report in baseball within the next two weeks. Online Sportsbooks haven’t put out over/under win totals yet, but they are due relatively soon.

Until win totals are released, World Series championship futures are fun to speculate.

If you can wait nine months for a payout, there’s plenty of value to be found.

The Cubs are by far the overall favorites to win the 2016 World Series with a +450 payout. The next in line are the Dodgers (+1200) and Mets (+1200).

We look at the overall value and pick some teams that could be worth the long wait for a payout.

Super Bowl 50 – Betting Picks Against Spread & Prop Bets

SB50I LOVE prop bets. I actually get more joy out of betting Super Bowl prop bets than betting against the spread. Yes, most are a crap shoot, but with the right research, you can end up winning a bet with very favorable odds.

I’m not saying you can research who will win the coin toss, but there are many other player and team prop bets out there that have nice odds.

Some prop bets aren’t worth the money (the vig isn’t worth the slight risk), but sometimes you just have to lay a few bucks down, cross your fingers and wish for the best.

I picked out some of the most popular (and the most absurd) prop bets for Super Bowl 50. We also pick the game against the spread.

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 41

Finn Balor Terry Funk 123 Kid Ryback Dean Ambrose Lita WWE Elite series 41 mattel toysI’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month. You can view photos of my collection on my Instagram account.

Mattel has been including more flashback figures, which I love. I think it’s largely due to the success of the Target exclusive Hall of Fame series (by the way, series three should be in stores in the near future).

Elite 41 might be the best overall series released this calendar year. I know I said that for elite 40, but Mattel keeps outdoing themselves. The WWE Superstars included in Elite 41 are Finn Balor, 1-2-3 Kid, Terry Funk, Lita, Dean Ambrose and Ryback.

Why the Carolina Panthers WILL win the Super Bowl this season

panthers-cowboys-luke-kuechly-interceptionAfter going 15-1 in the regular season, there were plenty of football fans who expected the Carolina Panthers to struggle during the postseason. So far, the Panthers have breezed through the playoffs and will now face Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl for the NFL Championship.

Carolina are playing incredibly well on both sides of the ball, which stands them in good stead to win the Super Bowl for the first time. They reached the showpiece event back in 2003 but fell short as the New England Patriots scraped victory courtesy of an Adam Vinatieri field goal.

2016 NFL Conference Championship Games – Betting Picks Against Spread

larry fitzgerald green bay packers nfl playoffsSorry about getting my picks up late this week. I had a busy week and it kept getting push back.

I went 5-2-1 with my NFL picks against the spread and over/under picks last weekend.

The East Coast got a bunch of snow dumped on them the last few days. Charlotte didn’t get as much as the D.C. area, so the playing conditions for the Carolina/Arizona game shouldn’t be too horrible. I don’t see it affecting the spread or over/under too much.

Both conference championship games have the top two seeds facing off. It should be a fun slate of games (although I wish the Carolina/Arizona game didn’t come on as the same time as the Royal Rumble).

We pick both NFL Conference Championship games against the spread.

2016 NFL Divisional Playoff Games – Betting Picks Against Spread

vontaze-burfict-ben-roethlisberger-nfl-afc-wild-card-pittsburgh-steelers-cincinnati-bengals-1-850x560I went 6-2 with my NFL picks against the spread and over/under picks last weekend. I went 3-1 against the spread and 3-1 with my over/under picks. I believe I should have been 4-0 ATS, but Big Ben was nearly murdered by Vontaze Burfict…but you can’t predict injuries, so it is was it is.

Three of the four playoff games are being played outdoors this weekend, so check weather reports before kickoff. Denver, Charlotte and Foxborough are all supposed to be clear skies and relatively pleasant this weekend.

The road teams won all four playoff games last weekend. Will the trend continue?

We pick every NFL Divisional Playoff game against the spread.
