2015 NFL Week 1 – Betting Picks Against Spread

funny america's white boy nfl picks 2015 week 1 against the spread bettingIt feels like Christmas Day! NFL season begins on Thursday and I will be glued to the couch all weekend watching NFL and college football games. It will be glorious.

I’ve went 264-203-19 combined in the past two years picking NFL games against the spread. I’ve been posting my picks for the last five or six years, but really only kept a running total in recent years.

Week 1 is a tricky betting week. You can watch all the preseason football games you want and never get a feel for what the team will look like in their first regular season game.

I’ve been on a roll the last two years by winning over 60% of my NFL game picks against the spread. Let’s hope the hot streak continues.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season.

2015 NFL Team Preview: Oakland Raiders

weird funny 2015 season team preview Oakland Raiders mark davis hair al davisThe Raiders have been really bad for a decade. They have went through head coaches like Taylor Swift has went through boyfriends. Unfortunately for Oakland, they can’t profit off them by writing a song (although Tom Cable rhymes with some adorable words).

Quarterback Derek Carr had a nice rookie season. His receiving corps got an influx of talent this offseason. They drafted Alabama’s Amari Cooper and signed Michael Crabtree. Carr didn’t have much talent to throw to last year, so I expect a lot from him this season.

The AFC West has been dominated off and on by everyone in the division BUT the Raiders. Can they surprise everyone and keep the division race close?

Here is the 2015 NFL team preview for the Oakland Raiders.

2014 NFL Week 17 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Jesus NFL Pittsburgh Steelers funny meme point spread 2014Merry Christmas!…or if you’re reading this a few days after, Happy (almost) New Year’s!

I went 9-5-1 last week. I now sit at 122-108-8 with my NFL picks against the spread this season.

Week 17 is a tricky betting week. You have to know which teams have clinched a position in the playoffs, which teams are still fighting for a spot…and which teams would rather be at home this Sunday. A team could really screw you if they decide to sit their starters at the last minute.

I had a decent year betting against the spread in the NFL last season (133-95-10). Any year you hit nearly 60% of the NFL games against the spread is a damn good year. Let’s hope my win percentage is near that this season.

Jimmy Clausen Chicago Bears funny ugly Notre Dame NFLI’m sorry for getting this post up late this week. I was having a ‘man issue’ I couldn’t solve myself. The issue was that my car broke down and I’m horrible at man stuff, like use stainless steel tools and spitting. I finally got the issue straightened out and was able to research this week’s NFL games.

I went 8-6-2 last week. I now sit at 113-103-7 with my NFL picks against the spread this season.

Rob Gronkowski kitten New England Patriots funny weirdI finished 8-7-1 last week. I’ve been hovering around .500 for most of the season. I’ve had some nice underdog moneyline wins, but there are a few teams that I haven’t got a good feel for this season. I’ve whiffed on the Vikings, Rams and Falcons more the other teams. I now sit at 105-97-5 with my NFL picks against the spread this season.

I have no idea why Rob Gronkowski had a photoshoot with a kitten. I actually can’t explain anything he does, so it makes sense.

Dallas Cowboys fan Thanksgiving turkey hat NFL funny 2014After dominating the previous week, I broke even at 7-7-1 last week. I had three close misses, but still feel like I made smart picks in those three close non-winners. I now sit at 90-81-4 with my NFL picks against the spread this season.

I do have to pat my back a bit by picking Oakland last week. I even mentioned that Latavius Murray would have a big game.

There are some awesome games lined up this week. There is only one double-digit point spread this week. I can’t wait to dive into a turkey, watch football, dive into turkey leftovers on Sunday and continue watching football.

2012 NFL Team Preview: Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders had an up and down year in 2011. They lost their team owner, but had glimpses of hope on the field. They overpaid, I mean traded for QB Carson Palmer mid-season, but he filled a need at quarterback. They hope he can lead the passing attack and the team to its first Super Bowl in a decade.

The AFC West has been won by a different team each of the last three seasons. Is it Oakland’s turn to wear the crown? Can Darren McFadden stay healthy for an entire season?

Here is the 2012 NFL team preview of the Oakland Raiders.

2011 Win/Loss Record: 8-8

Key Additions: QB Matt Leinart, CB Shawntae Spencer, LB Phillip Wheeler, DE Dave Tollefson, FB Owen Schmitt, CB Pat Lee, OG Mike Brisiel, TE Tory Humphrey, CB Ron Bartell, OG Tony Bergstrom, LB Miles Burris, DE Jack Crawford, WR Juron Criner and DT Chris Bilukidi.

Key Losses: LB Kamerion Wimbley, WR Louis Murphy, QB Jason Campbell, WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, C Samson Satele, CB Lito Sheppard, WR Chaz Schilens, RB Michael Bush, QB Kyle Boller, TE Kevin Boss, RB Rock Cartwright, LB Quentin Groves, OT Stephon Hoyer, CB Stanford Routt and DE Trevor Scott.

Non-Division Schedule: AFC North and NFC South

Fantasy SleeperRB Taiwan Jones – Darren McFadden is coming back from a serious injury. He already has a history of various injuries that forced him to miss games. Oakland signed Mike Goodson from Carolina, but Taiwan Jones is an intriguing player. He was limited in 2011 because Michael Bush was in the way. Bush is now in Chicago and the backup job is open in Oakland.

Team Analysis: Oakland had a surprising offensive attack in 2011. McFadden stayed healthy (for most of the season until injuring his knee), Carson Palmer had flashes of his old self and Darrius Heyward-Bey removed the “bust” tag from himself. Palmer will need to stay healthy and produce like its 2003 if he hopes to get Oakland into the playoffs. Oakland lost both of its backup quarterbacks, so Matt Leinart and Terelle Pryor are on-deck if Palmer can’t do the job…so he needs to stay healthy. He will also need to rely on Jacoby Ford, Denarius Moore and Heyward-Bey, a very inexperienced group of receivers. On the defensive end, it was a down year for the group last season. Their secondary is still weak and they will need to rely on a pass rush to disrupt the passing game. They will need big years from Richard Seymour and Tommy Kelly. I don’t see Oakland having a great season. Denver is improved and I like San Diego much more in 2012. Their non-division schedule is more difficult this season and Oakland is still a few pieces away from contending for the AFC West division.

2012 Wins Over/Under Line: 7.5 (Prediction: UNDER)

2012 Projected Win/Loss Record: 6-10

Did The Patriots Make A Classless Move?

If you call the New England Patriots a “class organization,” you may want to refrain from using those words going forward. Richard Seymour was traded to the Oakland Raiders for a 2011 first round pick a couple days ago and he has yet to report to Oakland. He was unhappy about the trade and didn’t want to play for the Raiders. Was this a classless move by the Patriots?

Richard Seymour has played his entire career in New England. They drafted him out of the University of Georgia in 2001 and he knows nothing other than playing for a winner. He is a five-time Pro Bowler and he helped the Patriots win three Super Bowl championships and a perfect regular season in 2007. He has done everything he could for the Patriots and he deserves a little more respect.

I’m not a Patriots fan, but I can respect Richard Seymour and his football ability. He has crushed the Indianapolis Colts on a few occasions and I have uttered a few curse words with Seymour’s name directly involved. I hate when a football player is kicked to the curb because a team gets either a good offer, or a player who is cheaper, but can at least fill their position adequately.

As I take Seymour’s side, I can see the Patriots side in this fiasco. Oakland is bad and they will probably be bad in 2010, so their 2011 first-round pick will be very high. In 2011, Seymour would be heading into his 10th season as a pro, and he has already had a few nagging injuries and they can only get worse. I do believe that the Patriots could have said no to this offer, out of respect for a player who was a cornerstone of their defenses that won Super Bowls. There is a bit of a shift-change going on in New England this season. Rodney Harrison, Junior Seau, Mike Vrabel, and Teddy Bruschi are all gone. They were an older defense last year and at times they were handled pretty easily, so a change was needed. Guys like Jerod Mayo and Vince Wilfork will have to step-up and become leaders on defense.

If I were Seymour, I wouldn’t want to play for the Oakland Raiders either. Over the last decade, Oakland has been a place where players go to die. They have a good defense, but if you take away Nnamdi Asomugha, the defense is swiss cheese. They won’t win more than five games this season and New England is expected to win at least twelve, since Tom Brady is back. I can see both sides of this situation, but if you can do that, always side with the player. I’m sure Robert Kraft could have handled being without Oakland’s 2011 pick and Seymour could have contributed to their defense this year. This trade makes New England worse and I’m all for it, but Seymour got screwed.
