TTM Autograph Weekly Haul #25 – Fred Lynn & More!

I had another solid week for autograph returns, as we had 20 successes come back this week.

We had some pretty big returns this week with Fred Lynn, a former AL MVP, and a player who is #77 on the NHL’s all-time scoring list.

We post these every Sunday on our YouTube channel, so if ‘through the mail autographs’ are something you’re interested in, please subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Blue Jackets Hire John Tortorella

John-Tortotella-columbus-blue-jackets-nhlI’m a fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets. I don’t write much about them because they don’t give me a lot to say. They bounce between the worst team in the NHL and the 8th seed in the playoffs.

Columbus started out 0-7 to begin the 2015-16 NHL season. The team finally cut ties with head coach Todd Richards and hired the bulldozer John Tortorella.

The Blue Jackets are one of those NHL teams that if you’re not a fan of hockey, you may not realize they exist. They are still fairly new for pro team standards, but they should have more national name exposure by this point.

Tortorella has the playoff experience Columbus needs to push them in the right direction. How will they react to Tortorella’s hard-line demeanor?

Marian Hossa Chicago Blackhawks NHL 2015 Stanley CupAs the NHL regular season reaches the 60-game mark, the race for top spot is heating up, both in the NHL standings and Stanley Cup futures betting odds at the online sportsbooks.

The Chicago Blackhawks continue to lead the way as 6/1 favorites in Stanley Cup betting favorites at sportsbooks available through www.bettingsports.com. The Hawks’ odds have held steady since opening the regular season at 13/2, despite their struggles at times to keep pace in the competitive Central Division.

The Nashville Predators currently sit atop the Central, entering the final week of February with a 12-point lead over Chicago in the divisional standings. The Preds have seen their Stanley Cup betting stock rise since acquiring defenseman Cody Franson and forward Mike Santorelli in a blockbuster trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 50 Best Sports Movies of All-Time

ollie hoosiers best sports movies of all-timeI’m a sucker for a great sports movie. I watch every one that comes out and have been disappointed by so many. It’s because I hold such movies as ‘Hoosiers’ and ‘Field of Dreams’ in such high regard. The bar is set really high.

I brainstormed some blog ideas and realized I’ve never written about the best sports movies of all-time. I spent most of this morning making the list of the top 50 sports movies of all-time.

I didn’t include any documentaries or this list would be loaded (I’ll save them for a future post). So if you’re asking yourself why ‘Hoop Dreams’ didn’t make the cut, now you know. Also, I only listed movie franchises once and only ranked the first movie in the series…’Rocky IV’ and ‘Might Ducks 2’ would have definitely made the list.

Here is our list of the 50 best sports movies of all-time.

Blue Jackets Win First-Ever Playoff Game

Matt Calvert Columbus Blue Jackets Pittsburgh Penguins Playoff Win 2014 NHLI’ve been waiting fourteen years to say this, but the Columbus Blue Jackets FINALLY won a playoff game. They have only made the playoffs one other time since they joined the NHL as an expansion franchise in 2000. They were swept by the Detroit Red Wings in 2009

After losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first game of the series, the Blue Jackets beat the Penguins in double-overtime on Saturday night. Matt Calvert scored the winning goal.

The series now goes to Nationwide Arena in Columbus tied 1-1 for games three and four.

Can the Blue Jackets pull off the upset and win the series?

Betting on Who Will Win The NHL This Season

nhl chicago blackhawks stanley cup winner 2013-14NHL ice hockey is noted for being a somewhat physically brutal spectacle at times, but trying to pick a side to win it this season may be almost as mentally brutal for sports betting fans. After all, at this point in the 2013/14 season, at least four or five teams are almost impossible to choose between, as the Penguins, Blackhawks, Bruins and Ducks are all displaying Stanley Cup-winning form in their various divisions. The bookmakers can find little to divide these sides in terms of quality either, so exactly who should you lay your wagers on?

If you were going purely on divisional performances, then perhaps the Penguins should be your pick – as their sixteen point advantage in the Metropolitan one shows just how much they are outclassing the other sides. None of the three other teams have a lead of this magnitude, but the Blackhawks are arguably the strongest overall side, having won Conference and Cup last year, and kept most of the players who did so. Hockey Talk: Norwegian League Hockey Player Busts A Move [VIDEO]

Adrian-Alvarstein-Dancing-HockeyWhile Joe and Eddie pay off their malt liquor 40 ouncer vs. 2-liter of Mountain Dew Code Red bet on tonight’s Red Wings game, Sweetbob is here to give you today’s edition of Hockey Talk.

I watched tonight’s episode of ESPN’s ‘Olbermann’ (I love this show, especially since a buddy of mine was called out during his ‘Worst Persons In The Sports World’ segment). He aired a video of Adrian Alvarstine, a player in the Norwegian League’s second division, busting out some dance moves after a win.

Since I love a good hockey video, I’ll share the video of Alvarstein doing his best impression of a character in the movie ‘Beat Street’.

Don’t worry, I also throw in one of my favorite NHL ice girl videos. We have an equal time rule here.

Hockey Talk: Top 10 Goalie Fights [VIDEO]

NHL-Goalie-Fight-HockeyJoe and Eddie are still mourning the Detroit Tigers season, so ‘America’s White Boy’ founder Sweetbob is here to fill-in for the guys.

To commemorate the Ray Emery/Braden Holtby fight last week, I decided to make a list of the top goalie fights with videos of each fight.

Sadly, I have only seen one goalie fight in person. It was over a decade ago during a Fort Wayne Komets game. I don’t remember the names of the goalies or the other team involved. I was able to cross it off my bucket list, but I want to see more. I would pay $500 for a ticket to a hockey game if they guaranteed a goalie fight would happen.

Here is a list of the top 10 goalie fights listed in no particular order. Enjoy!

Hockey Talk: Sweetbob Edition

spiderman_cryingSince Joe Pasquali is fell asleep crying after going to Game 3 of the ALCS in Detroit and I assume Eddie Thiesen probably passed out in the bathrub…because it’s, uh, Tuesday? Good ole’ Sweetbob will take over today’s ‘Hockey Talk’ just to post a beautiful video that the guys may not enjoy.

My Columbus Blue Jackets played Joe & Eddie’s Detroit Red Wings tonight. Detroit won 2-1, but CBJ’s Cam Atkinson scored a gorgeous end-to-end goal. Columbus has some nice young talent. Atkinson is one of the reasons why I haven’t jumped off a bridge. I have hope that they’ll make the playoffs this year and win their very first playoff game as a franchise (not an entire series, I’m being realistic). *fingers crossed*

The video is after the jump…

Hockey Talk: Preseason Edition

florida panthers hello kitty logo nhlJoe Pasquali and Eddie Theisen are two die hard hockey fans.

Even in the midst of football starting and baseball gearing up for the postseason, these two idiots find time to talk about a sport that only Canadians and alcoholics care about, hockey. They now live together, but still find time each morning to catch up and sort of discuss the NHL.

This is their conversation. Continue reading

NHL Talk: MVP Race, Cheap Tickets & Hot Dogs

SadOilersDogTwo hockey guys talking hockey.

Joe Pasquali and Eddie Theisen are two die-hard NHL fans. They both watch every hockey game, every night (almost).

The guys talk about teams who are fighting for playoff position and wonder how the New Jersey Devils are this bad when they’re loaded with talent.

I’ve been holding my breath during the final stretch of the season. I’m a Columbus Blue Jackets fan and they’ve been flirting with the #8 seed in the Western Conference. Will they make it? Probably not, but it’s nice to watch an “almost” playoff team (I’m a Chicago Cubs fan).

This is their email conversation this afternoon. Continue reading

NHL Talk: Trade Deadline Special

Marian+Gaborik+Blue+JacketsTwo hockey guys talking hockey.

Joe Pasquali and Eddie Theisen are two die-hard NHL fans. They both watch every hockey game, every night (almost).

The guys talk about the NHL trade deadline and which teams are the winners and losers.

My Columbus Blue Jackets were really active, but the pieces they traded in exchange for Marian Gaborik could leave diehard fans a bit sad. They traded away three homegrown talents for only 1.5 guaranteed seasons of Gaborik.

This is their email conversation this afternoon. Continue reading
