Can Johnny Manziel Make It Back to NFL?

Johnny Manziel was once the most exciting college football player. He went on to win the Heisman Trophy as a redshirt freshman. Off-field issues took some of the luster off him and he fell to the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He started eight games for the Cleveland Browns over two seasons. He was released after just two years with the Browns.

‘Johnny Football’ has been a free agent since early-2016. He hasn’t stayed out of the headlines as basically anything he does makes news. His alleged substance abuse issues were so bad that his dad thought the young man would die if he didn’t seek professional help. His issues hurt his stock as a free agent to the point that his agent fired himself. Manziel finally sought help and has been focused on getting his life back. He has even admitted that during his time at rehab he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is now taking medication to help with the issue.

Which NFL Team Will Johnny Manziel Play For in 2016?

johnny-football-manziel-cleveland-browns-houston-texans-nflThe Cleveland Browns basically shut the door on the ‘Johnny Football Era’ in Cleveland. After finding a video of Johnny Manziel partying during the bye week in Austin, Texas, the Browns who just announced that he would be the starting quarterback going forward, immediately demoted him to third-string.

If the Cleveland Browns were to cut Manziel after the season, there would still be a handful of teams waiting in line to either claim him or possibly trade a late-round pick to the Browns. I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of him.

Which NFL teams could be a possible landing spot for Manziel?

2015 NFL Team Preview: Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Brown 2015 NFL team preview Cleveland Browns funnyThe only news that came out of Cleveland this offseason was been about Johnny Manziel. It shouldn’t come as a surprise since he’s been a media magnet since college. He seems to be getting his life in order. He spent time at a rehab facility and moved to the suburbs. We may not see Manziel much on the field this season, but he took steps off the field to make it possible.

Cleveland will be without arguably their most talented players on offense from last season. Tight end Jordan Cameron took his talents to South Beach via free agency and Josh Gordon has to sit out this season after failing a drug test. Their offense could struggle at times, but luckily their defense didn’t lose any key players. I actually think they are better than last year on that side of the ball.

How will Josh McCown fare as the starting quarterback?

Here is the 2015 NFL team preview for the Cleveland Browns.

Johnny Manziel Retiring ‘Money Sign’ Celebration

johnny manziel money celebration cleveland browns 2015It looks like Johnny Football has officially grown up.

Johnny Manziel announced this week that he will retire the money sign celebration he made famous in college at Texas A&M. If you’re not familiar with it, you can see it here.

Manziel spent much of the offseason going through a rehab program and counseling. He even left his downtown bachelor pad in lieu of the suburbs.

His rookie season was a disaster and there was even talk during the recent draft that the Cleveland Browns could draft another quarterback.

Could we soon see the emergence of ‘John Football’?

Brian Hoyer to Remain Browns Starter…for now

Brian Hoyer Cleveland Browns NFL starter johnny manziel happyFOX Sports reported this afternoon that the Cleveland Browns will keep Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback for this Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

This comes as a surprise to many after Browns head coach Mike Pettine benched Hoyer in favor of rookie Johnny Manziel in their loss to Buffalo last week. Manziel moved the ball well and had a few moments that reminded us all of what he was able to accomplish in college.

Hoyer may have a short leash against the Colts. If he struggles in the first half, Manziel could see time. If he does appear, it is rumored that Cleveland will go with Manziel for their final three games.

This could be Hoyer’s last shot to make it in his hometown of Cleveland native.

johnny Manziel Duck Dynasty Funny Dallas Cowboys NFLNFL Draft rumors are swirling more than a Panhandle Twister. Teams are trying to gain any leverage they can by putting out false rumors. It’s difficult to trust anything you hear from now until the 2014 NFL Draft on May 8th.

The latest rumor getting traction is the Dallas Cowboys would do ‘anything’ to trade up to draft Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Is there any truth to this rumor?

2014 NFL Mock Draft – Jadeveon Clowney #1?

Jadeveon Clowney 2014 NFL Mock DraftNow that all the major pro days are over and all the scouts have seen the top prospects in person, the draft board is taking shape.

The recent pro days of Jadeveon Clowney and Johnny Manziel ‘wowed’ scouts and have been the talk of sports media. I don’t know how much a pro day really matters in the overall scheme of things, but they can majorly help a player’s draft stock. Both players did just that, there stock is as high as ever.

Many of the teams picking in the top 10 need quarterbacks. Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater, Derek Carr and Manziel are all in play to be taken in the first round. A team in the second round could even trade up to take a sleeper, like Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo or Alabama’s A.J. McCarron.

Here is the first round of our 2014 NFL Mock Draft.

2013 NCAA Football – Week 8 Betting Picks Against Spread

Jameis Winston Florida State Clemson TigersMy streak of winners is still intact.

I went 11-7-1 last week with my picks, bringing my season total to 50-28-45 on the season. I didn’t match the previous week’s domination, but 11-7-1 is solid.

Week 8 of the 2013 college football season (October 19th to be exact) has possibly the biggest marquee game all season, Florida State at Clemson.

We’re at a point in the season where favorites often fall or fail to cover the spread. When making a bet, look to see if any teams had a common opponent earlier in the season. That could help you with your decision. Injury reports and weather conditions also grow more and more important deeper in the college football season.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday…we also sneak in a few Thursday night games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference. Enjoy!

2013 NCAA Football – Week 7 Betting Picks Against Spread

1959_Texas_vs_Oklahoma_Red_River_RivalryI’m on a hot streak.

I went 12-5 last week with my picks, bringing my season total to 39-21-4 on the season.

Week 7 of the college football season (October 12th to be exact) isn’t filled with as many marquee games as last week, but there are plenty of rivalry games.

We now have a good idea on which teams are good, but trap games and upsets often happen in the middle of the season. Favorites are often overvalued, so be careful with your picks. Vegas knows who the best teams are too, so the value isn’t there anymore.

We answer those questions and pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday…we also sneak in a few Thursday night games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference

2013 NCAA Football – Week 4 Betting Picks Against Spread

Manziel-Money-Sign-Touchdown-CelebrationI apologize for being a little late with this week’s college football picks against the spread, I’ve been immersed with winning my fantasy baseball leagues and giving out fantasy football advice to friends and readers.

I’ve had a decent year so far picking college football games, but I’m looking to have a big week on September 21st in Week 4 of the NCAA football season.

Can Johnny Manziel forget last week’s loss against Alabama? Will Notre Dame and Florida ramp up their play after poor performances early this season?

We answer those questions and help you decide who you want to bet on this week (we mention a possible addition in a parlay). Continue reading
