Review: “Point Your Face At This” by Demetri Martin

Point Your Face At This Demetri MartinIf you’re a fan of stand-up comedy, you’re very familiar with Demetri Martin’s work.

Martin uses his drawings (and many venn diagrams) to enhance his comedy on stage. Most of his art is very simple and often portrays many common phrases using the most literal definition.

Martin just released a new book called Point Your Face At This. It’s a collection of drawings in the same style of the art he uses in his comedy routine.

You could assume that a book of his drawings would only be around 100 pages. Well, Martin is giving his readers their money’s worth…this book is 288 pages! Continue reading

What If “Breaking Bad” Debuted in 1995? [Video]

I love when people are creative on YouTube.

The YouTube user GoesToEleven, who earlier released a video of the 1995-style opening credits for “The Walking Dead”,has done it again. This time he uses the television show “Breaking Bad”.

This is the best thing on the internet right now.

Podcast Starter Kit: “The Comedy Button”

Comedy+Button+Cast+Podcast+Itunes+ComedyIf you’re new to the podcast world and unsure about what to subscribe to on Itunes, we’re here to help.

We listen to various podcasts while we write, so we know some of the gems buried in the pile of bad podcasts in Itunes.

The Comedy Button is a comedy podcast made by guys in the video game industry. Many of the guys currently write at IGN or Geekbox. The cast includes: Anthony Gallegos, Ryan Scott, Brian Altano, Scott Bromley and Max Scoville.

We post a few YouTube clips from their show and where you can listen to The Comedy Button episodes. Continue reading

Idolizing – Aziz Ansari

If you’re a fan of funny stand-up comedy and/or great television, you are familiar with Aziz Ansari. He’s the fourth installment of my “Idolizing” series. The first three posts were about Chuck KlostermanChuck Klosterman (again), & the McRib sandwich.…I am sure that Mr. Ansari is glad to be in this group.

I don’t want this post to read like his Wikipedia page, but here’s the lowdown on him. He plays Tom Haverford on NBC’s Parks & Recreation and he has appeared on the big screen in Funny People and 30 Minutes or Less. He is a working stand-up comedian and has a successful comedy album under his belt (Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening). He even made a cameo in Jay-Z & Kanye West’s music video for Otis. Here is why idolize Aziz Ansari and what he has coming out in the near future.

I’m a big fan of Parks & Rec and I’m exactly sure why I haven’t written a hundred posts about Ron Swanson. Ansari steals the show with his facial expressions, faux-pimp swag, and for his anti-stereotypical portrayal of an Indian-American. My favorite episode is when Tom Haverford describes his nicknames for everyday food (which sparked up its own parody website). Guys in their late-20s and early 30s can relate to Mr. Haverford. He has a quasi-important 9 to 5 job, doesn’t have much game with women, and he yearns for a life of luxury. Continue reading
