So, I’ve been dealing with a bout of ‘get these f***ing kidney stones out of me’ pain the last few days. I have been unable to sit down and do my write up until this evening, but I’ve been studying matchups and trends all week.

I needed to cut this week’s post down quite a bit, since I can’t stomach sitting up in a chair for a long time. I still picked 20 games against the spread, but the format is just the ‘Quick Picks’ that I usually save for the end of my weekly column.

2015 NFL Week 8 – Betting Picks Against Spread

The Lions fired a ton of their offensive coaching staff and promoted a guy named Jim Bob Cooter to run the offense. He has the best name in the NFL and possibly the entire world. We wish him the best of luck…he will need it.

I went 7-6 against the spread last week. I hit on an underdog moneyline with Oakland to come out positive on the week.

2015 NCAA Football – Week 8 Betting Picks Against Spread

It finally feels like football weather outside here in Indiana. It’s the exact moment when you get the sudden urge to eat something with pumpkin spice.

Let’s take a moment to discuss the Michigan punter’s error or terror. The look on his face is the perfect reflection of how he feels inside. It was a devastating loss and will go down as one of the most improbable ways to lose a game.

There are some nice matchups this weekend, but it’s the usual lull before the rivalry games kick in the next few weeks.

2015 NFL Week 7 – Betting Picks Against Spread

As a Colts fan, I was utterly embarrassed by the ‘snapfu’ fake punt they tried to convert against the Patriots on Sunday night. I’m beginning to think it wouldn’t be a bad idea if the Colts let head coach Chuck Pagano walk after this season.

I went 7-6-1 against the spread last week. I hit on a couple underdog moneylines and the Colts backdoor cover helped me out a bit.

It’s getting close to the time in which weather becomes a factor. It doesn’t appear that it will affect the games this weekend, but it will become an issue soon.

Blue Jackets Hire John Tortorella

I’m a fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets. I don’t write much about them because they don’t give me a lot to say. They bounce between the worst team in the NHL and the 8th seed in the playoffs.

Columbus started out 0-7 to begin the 2015-16 NHL season. The team finally cut ties with head coach Todd Richards and hired the bulldozer John Tortorella.

The Blue Jackets are one of those NHL teams that if you’re not a fan of hockey, you may not realize they exist. They are still fairly new for pro team standards, but they should have more national name exposure by this point.

Tortorella has the playoff experience Columbus needs to push them in the right direction. How will they react to Tortorella’s hard-line demeanor?

2015 NCAA Football – Week 7 Betting Picks Against Spread

It’s my birthday weekend! I hope the gambling gods will be kind to me on Saturday.

I went 12-8 last week. I missed on Oklahoma, but nearly ran the table on my ‘Quick Hits’ last week. The SEC hasn’t been kind to me so far. The MAC and Big Ten has made up for it though.

The weather isn’t expected to be a huge issue this weekend. The Midwest is due for regular seasonal weather. It will be nippy, but it looks clear.

2015 NFL Week 6 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Patriots and Colts fans have had this weekend’s upcoming game circled since the schedule was announced. The Patriots have dominated teams so far and the Colts just hope to get their quarterback on the field.

I went 7-6-1 last week against the spread. I felt pretty good about the outcome. I missed a few early games, but rebounded with the late games. I had two underdog moneyline plays that paid out.

A few players are returning from injuries this week and it doesn’t appear that the weather will play a huge factor this weekend. All eyes are on Andrew Luck since the Colts haven’t made it clear if he will start on Sunday night.

How Did We Do?: 2015 MLB Team Win Over/Under

It’s time to pop the champagne, guys!

Before the season began, we wrote a team preview for each MLB team. We broke down all the new players, former players, possible fantasy sleepers and (most importantly) picked an over/under win total.

We’ve always done really well with our MLB Over/Unders in the past and we kicked ass in 2015.

We went 18-11-1 on the year. We hit on all the sleepers, but missed horribly on the Houston Astros (we thought they were still a year away). Vegas definitely cleaned house on the Angels and Nationals. I don’t know many who picked their under win totals.

2015 NCAA Football – Week 6 Betting Picks Against Spread

I’m still hovering around .500 for the year. I once again moved some of my rankings around and think I’ve got a good handle of the lines. Teams are now in their conference schedule, so historical information comes into play more and more as the year moves along

I went 11-9 last week. I really thought Ole Miss and Georgia were the two best teams in the SEC, but they both fell last week. Also, Michigan and California keep surprising me (for good and bad reasons).

2015 NFL Week 5 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Week 4 seemed a bit early to start worrying about major injuries to key players. We wrote last week’s article on Thursday morning and things changed so much from then until Sunday morning.

I went 7-5-1 last week against the spread. I pulled two games off the board due to last-minute injury substitutions. Sportsbooks adjusted the lines too late in the week after Hasselbeck started for the Colts and Brees started for the Saints.

A few players are returning from injuries and suspensions this week. Andrew Luck appears to be ready to start on Thursday, but is it too early? Also, thankfully we don’t have a London game this week, so we can all sleep in on Sunday.

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 39

I’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month. You can view photos of my collection on my Instagram account.

Every Elite series released this year has been great. They have been including more flashback figures. I think it’s largely due to the success of the Target exclusive Hall of Fame series (by the way, series three should be in stores in the near future).

The WWE Superstars included in Elite 39 are British Bulldog, The Godfather, Sycho Sid, Dolph Ziggler, Damien Mizdow & Sting.

I’ve been hovering around .500 so far this year. I have moved some of my rankings around and hope to have a big week. Most teams are now into their conference schedule, so there will be less spreads of 30+ and we have some historical information to help our picks.

I went 9-10-1 last week. I whiffed on BYU/Michigan and a couple others. I felt some of the picks were ‘smart’, but they did not hit. A few balls fell in the other direction in those games.
