The Great Outdoors: Get Fit With Mother Nature

When the sun is shining and the weather is warm, who wants to be working out in a sweaty, fusty gym? The great outdoors gives you plenty of opportunities to work out and use your body, you get to see the sights, soak up some sun and chances are you’ll have a lot more fun too. With spring and summer around the corner, here are some of the outdoor activities you can do to get fit!

Water Sports

If you live near a beach, why not make the most of the ocean? You could go surfing, paddleboarding, swimming, even scuba diving! If you don’t have your own equipment, lots of beaches have hire shops and it’s something fun and exciting you could do every now and again. You’ll be using your whole body swimming underwater, but be having so much fun taking in the spectacular sights and creatures that it won’t even feel like exercise. If being in the water isn’t your thing, running on sand is very challenging or you could play something like beach volleyball.

2018 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 150 Starting Pitchers

We tackle the starting pitching position in our fantasy baseball rankings.

There are plenty elite arms to go around this season. Starting pitching is deep due to the Majors having so many guys who who are strikeout-prone. There is a premium on Wins and ERA, so those guys will go higher in most drafts.

How will Yu Darvish perform in his first season in Chicago?

Are there any young prospects out there worth a late draft pick?

My rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

The Art of Sleeping Well In The Great Outdoors

Even though camping is a really cheap vacation option, relatively few people decide to do it because they associate it with all its disadvantage. Bad weather, uncomfy tents, and poorly equipped campsites sure are enough to put anyone off camping for life! But, believe me, there are ways you can get a good night’s sleep in your tent. You just need to follow all of these great tips!

Research Campsites

There are some campsites out there that are a lot worse than others. They will have hardly any facilities and might not attract the best campers, and both of these factors could disrupt your night’s sleep. So, research all of the sites in the area you want to stay and find out which are highly rated by your fellow campers. It’s worth going on review websites such as Tripadvisor. If possible, get some word-of-mouth recommendations from your friends.

Serious Sports: Taking Your Passion Up A Notch

For those that love sports, there isn’t much in life which can take the place of going outside and getting yourself into a sweaty mess. Whatever the activity you enjoy, there will always be a large element of it which you enjoy, or you wouldn’t be likely to take part in it at all. Over time, though, things can start to get a little boring. Without growth or change in your sporting life, it will feel as if the work you’re doing is pointless. To help you out with this, this post will be exploring some of the best ways to bring some passion back to your play, while also helping you to make it into something more serious in the process.

Benefits Of Playing Solitaire And Other Boredom Apps

When was the last time you had an app that was truly fun? We’ve played all the apps in the app store already, from Angry Birds to Tower Defense games, and nothing seems to really keep our interest. That’s because you forgot about the one classic that can never
die – solitaire mobile.

We all remember playing on our PCs back in the day. Solitaire was the game to play! Everyone wanted to get to the animation at the end, finally crack the code, and we all learned a thing or two about how to play solitaire along the way. Now, nobody has the time to sit down at a PC (an alarming majority of the country doesn’t even own a “PC”
anymore!)

2018 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 50 Third Baseman

We finish our infield fantasy baseball rankings with the top fifty third baseman.

The third base position has been deep in the past, but it’s quite top-heavy this year. If you don’t pick one of the top-four third baseman this season, you’re doing your team a disservice.

Nolan Arenado is the consensus best fantasy third baseman this season. Who is the second-best – Kris Bryant, Manny Machado or Josh Donaldson?

My rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

2018 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 50 Shortstops

Our fantasy baseball rankings pick up again with the top fifty shortstops.

The shortstop position is always been a place where you can find steals for your fantasy team. Although, over the last decade, there have always been a few guys with major power and speed. Thanks to an increased focus on launch angles, there are quite a few shortstops that will finish the year with 20+ homers.

Two seasons ago, the Yankees traded closer Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs for a package centered around stud prospect Gleyber Torres. He’s now ready for the Majors, but will he be on the Opening Day roster?

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: March 2018

March is a huge month for the site. We pumped out a ton of fantasy baseball posts, MLB team previews and NCAA Tournament game picks. It’s nice to have fresh music to listen to while you’re cranking out tens of thousands of words this coming month.

New music is about to flood your ears as bands gear up for Spring releases/tours. Next month’s playlist should be quite easy to compile.

I always keep an ear out for new music. I love discovering new bands/songs, it’s a habit from my days as a music journalist. Even though this is mostly a sports blog, I still add quite a bit of music and pop culture content. Keep sending me tracks via email or Twitter.

If you want to listen to songs that appeared on past playlists, you can listen to our playlist on Spotify or go here to view our past hipster playlists.

2018 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 50 Second Baseman

Our fantasy baseball rankings continue with the top fifty second baseman.

The second base has always been a top-heavy with talent, but there’s a little more than usual this season.

Jose Altuve leads the pack, but there are a few ‘Altuve Light’ options right behind him in the rankings.

Can Jonathan Schoop match last year’s offensive tear?

My rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

1. Jose Altuve – Houston Astros – Altuve may be the best overall player in fantasy. His average is top of the Majors and he will hit 25 homers and steal 30+ bases. I don’t expect a huge decrease in production, but then again, his numbers the last few years have been insane, so even a little decrease wouldn’t be alarming. He’s surrounded in the batting order with elite talent, so he will get pitches to hit.

2018 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 50 First Baseman

Our fantasy baseball rankings continue with the best first baseman.

The first base position is really, really deep. There’s all kind of power at the position. There is somewhat of a cliff after you get past the first five or six guys, but you will still be able to get your 1B/3B or backup 1B late in the draft.

My rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

1. Paul Goldschmidt – Arizona Diamondbacks – Goldschmidt has been a first-round pick for awhile now. He isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. He’s in the lineup every game, hits for power, is a near-automatic .295 hitter and even steals double-digit bases. He’s about as good as it gets for a corner infielder.

2018 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 50 Catchers

It’s time to kick off our yearly preseason fantasy baseball rankings.

The catcher position is quite intriguing. Many of the top catchers are young. You still have guys like Yadier Molina, but the position has gotten younger. There are catchers you can get late in the draft that still have upside.

Defense is en vogue, but teams will still lean on an offensive-minded catcher over a guy who can frame pitches well, but bat doesn’t have much pop.

My rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

1. Gary Sanchez – New York Yankees – The guy is hitting homers at an alarming rate. He knocked 33 last season in only 471 at-bats. He was right up there with Mike Trout and Josh Donaldson in home run per attempt last season. It’s hard to believe anyone else would even rate any other catcher #1 this preseason.
