2013 NFL Week 7 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Peyton-Manning-Andrew-LuckNeed betting advice for the NFL games this weekend? We pick every game against the spread in Week 7 of the NFL season.

Say goodbye to any value in the points spreads. The value is now in the decent teams with a bad record (Atlanta, NY Giants, Pittsburgh). Those plays are risky, but they’ll payoff this week. Keep those teams in mind in the coming weeks. You could hit on a few home underdog moneyline plays.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets in Week 7 of the NFL season.

2013 NCAA Football – Week 8 Betting Picks Against Spread

Jameis Winston Florida State Clemson TigersMy streak of winners is still intact.

I went 11-7-1 last week with my picks, bringing my season total to 50-28-45 on the season. I didn’t match the previous week’s domination, but 11-7-1 is solid.

Week 8 of the 2013 college football season (October 19th to be exact) has possibly the biggest marquee game all season, Florida State at Clemson.

We’re at a point in the season where favorites often fall or fail to cover the spread. When making a bet, look to see if any teams had a common opponent earlier in the season. That could help you with your decision. Injury reports and weather conditions also grow more and more important deeper in the college football season.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday…we also sneak in a few Thursday night games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference. Enjoy!

Hockey Talk: Sweetbob Edition

spiderman_cryingSince Joe Pasquali is fell asleep crying after going to Game 3 of the ALCS in Detroit and I assume Eddie Thiesen probably passed out in the bathrub…because it’s, uh, Tuesday? Good ole’ Sweetbob will take over today’s ‘Hockey Talk’ just to post a beautiful video that the guys may not enjoy.

My Columbus Blue Jackets played Joe & Eddie’s Detroit Red Wings tonight. Detroit won 2-1, but CBJ’s Cam Atkinson scored a gorgeous end-to-end goal. Columbus has some nice young talent. Atkinson is one of the reasons why I haven’t jumped off a bridge. I have hope that they’ll make the playoffs this year and win their very first playoff game as a franchise (not an entire series, I’m being realistic). *fingers crossed*

The video is after the jump…

2013 NCAA Football – Week 7 Betting Picks Against Spread

1959_Texas_vs_Oklahoma_Red_River_RivalryI’m on a hot streak.

I went 12-5 last week with my picks, bringing my season total to 39-21-4 on the season.

Week 7 of the college football season (October 12th to be exact) isn’t filled with as many marquee games as last week, but there are plenty of rivalry games.

We now have a good idea on which teams are good, but trap games and upsets often happen in the middle of the season. Favorites are often overvalued, so be careful with your picks. Vegas knows who the best teams are too, so the value isn’t there anymore.

We answer those questions and pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday…we also sneak in a few Thursday night games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference

Who Will the Cubs Hire as Manager?

Theo-Epstein-Chicago-Cubs-ManagerThe Chicago Cubs managerial search took a hit with Joe Girardi re-signing with the New York Yankees. He was their top candidate, since he’s from the area and was a former player for the organization. Oh, he also won the World Series as a manager.

The list of qualified candidates is out there, but we try to weed out the rumors.

The decision on who they hire makes a statement if this organization is looking to win now or if they realize this team is still a few years from making a run.

Will Theo Epstein hire once again hire one of his boys (Dale Sveum was third base coach on Boston’s 2004 World Series team) or will he go outside his comfort zone?

Can the Falcons Make The Playoffs?

Matt-ryan-atlanta-falcons-sadThe Atlanta Falcons were dealt a huge blow this week. Star receiver Julio Jones was officially ruled out for the rest of the season.

The injury bug has not only bitten the Falcons, but it has nearly devoured their chance to make the playoffs this season. Roddy White and Steven Jackson have both been dealing with their own injuries. It leaves the 100-year old Tony Gonzalez to carry this team offensively.

Matt Ryan has been fortunate to have a consistent running attack with Michael Turner, but he’s no longer on the team. Can he be effective without help in the backfield?

2013 NFL Week 5 – Betting Picks Against Spread

Peyton-Eli-ManningNeed betting advice for the NFL games this weekend? We pick every game against the spread in Week 5 of the NFL season.

Now that fantasy baseball season ended (I won four out of the five leagues), I’m waist-deep in fantasy football and college & pro football point spreads…I can’t complain. It’s better than writing about June baseball games.

I had some nice wins last week, but missed on the Browns and Redskins.

We pick every NFL game against the spread and throw out a few upsets and moneyline plays for Week 5 of the young NFL season.

Sports Crush: A.J. Lee

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush’ posts since we launched AmericasWhiteBoy.com a few years ago. We’ve spotlighted sportscasters, MMA fighters, and Olympians, but there hasn’t been a post about a professional wrestler…until today.

I’ve watched wrestling religiously every week as long as I can remember. I still make sure I keep my schedule open on Monday night’s to watch WWE’s ‘RAW’.

Female professional wrestlers are known as ‘Divas’ in the WWE. There is one specific diva that caught our eye.

A.J. Lee is the current Divas Championship holder and fellow nerd. She reads comic books, likes skulls and other things a punk nerd would enjoy. She’s the darling of all the internet wrestling fans.

Once you see A.J. Lee, you’ll know why we’re crushing her. We’ve add some photos and a very special .GIF of her for you to enjoy.

Jacksonville Jaguars Need Tim Tebow to Save Franchise

Tim Tebow Jacksonville JaguarsTim Tebow is the most polarizing athlete in professional sports…and he’s not even playing.

The New England Patriots released Tebow just before the regular season started. The fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars instantly began to rally in hopes the team signed the former Florida Gators quarterback and nearby resident of Ponte Vedra, Florida.

Jacksonville is currently sitting at 0-4 with no signs of winning a game. They have been blown out in every game. Blaine Gabbert, who the team had hopes of being their franchise quarterback, looks completely lost. His backup is journeyman Chad Henne, an average quarterback on a good day.

2013 NCAA Football – Week 6 Betting Picks Against Spread

Texas Tech Guns Up MascotThe fifth week of the college football season was very kind to me. I went 11-4 with my picks against the spread. I improved my overall record to 27-16-4 on the season.

Week six of the college football season (October 5th to be exact) is filled with a lot of fun games to watch. All the teams are in their conference schedule, with a few exceptions. We will start to see which teams are contenders and which teams clearly benefited from a weak non-conference schedule.

There are some huge Big Ten and Big 12 games on Saturday. You will know a lot more about Northwestern and Texas Tech after 10/5/13.

We answer those questions and pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday…we also sneak in a few smaller games in the MAC and Mountain West conferences.

The 20 Best Ska Songs of All-Time

two-tone-logo1-skaI’ve been a fan of ska music was since I was a teenager. I played the trombone in the marching band, so I always thought I would make a ska band one day, but I wasn’t really good at it.

There are many ska bands that broke into the mainstream, but some of the best bands never reached that level.

I formed a list of the 20 best ska songs of all-time. I didn’t want to repeat bands, so I didn’t list ten Operation Ivy tracks, which would probably happen. I know I didn’t list The Toasters, The Specials and some of the other great ska bands, but it was hard to narrow down this list to only 20 songs.

Here are the top 20 ska songs of all-time (in no particular order).
