Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 32

WWE Elite Series 32 Lineup Daniel Bryan Rey Mysterio Sin Cara Cody Rhodes Big E Mark Henry MattelI’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month.

WWE Elite Series 30 and Elite Series 31 were both home runs. I bought most of those sets. I was kind of hoping Elite 32 would be filled with figures I’d want to skip (I need to catch up on some earlier Elites I missed). My wish was granted and I don’t feel bad skipping most of these figures.

The WWE Superstars included in Elite 32 are Daniel Bryan (short-lived run with the Wyatt Family), Big E., Mark Henry, Cody Rhodes, Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio (WCW Flashback).

Here are some pictures and a review of which accessories each figure will come with.

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 31

WWE Elite 31 Lineup Mattel Kane The Rock Vader Flashback The Usos Dean AmbroseI’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I had a hard time getting into new action figures. I started purchasing the old toys I had as a kid out of nostalgia. Well, the WWE finally figured out a way to suck me into their new products…release quality figures of wrestlers I grew up watching.

As soon as I saw the line-up for Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 30, I basically just threw my money at my laptop screen. The lineup for Elite 31 was announced awhile ago and are due to hit retail early October. They have already hit Amazon and eBay.

The WWE Superstars included in Elite 31 are Kane, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Dean Ambrose, The Rock (Rock Concert Flashback) and Vader (Flashback).

Here are some pictures and a review of which accessories each figure will come with. Continue reading

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 30

WWE Elite 30 Animal Hawk Lex Luger Batista Brock Lesnar RybackI’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I had a hard time getting into new action figures. I started purchasing the old toys I had as a kid out of nostalgia. As soon as I saw the line-up for Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 30, I basically just threw my money at my laptop screen. I’m a sucker for the Legion of Doom (otherwise known as The Road Warriors) and the Lex Express-era patriotic Lex Luger is just icing on the cake.

I let you know when these will hit the shelves, and which accessories come with each figure in Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 30.

20 Pictures of Nicolas Cage’s Face Photoshopped on People

Andre the Giant Nicolas Cage face faceoff funny comedy weirdI had a difficult time trying to think of a title that best suits this post. I went bland and just said what this actually post is…twenty pictures of Nicholas Cage’s Face Photoshopped on other people’s faces.

I first ran into the photo on the right while looking up some pictures of Andre the Giant to use on a different post. When I found that bad boy, I was both amazed and frightened. I would love to know whomever did that Photoshop (and the others), so I could properly give them credit.

After seeing the Andre the Giant picture, I went on a Google Image rampage to find others. It didn’t take me long to find a treasure trove of great photos of Nicholas Cage’s face in famous photos.

Here are the 20 best (funniest/odd) pictures of Nicolas Cage’s face Photoshopped on other people’s faces.

Toy Crazy: The Definitive WWF LJN Checklist

Ultimate Warrior LJN 1989 Toy WWF WWE Action FigureI know we all had toys as a kid that either got destroyed or sold by your parents at a yard sale. Well, a lot of those toys now go for big money on eBay. In particular, the WWF LJN line of toys from the 80’s.

The WWF LJN line had figures of recognizable fame (Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, Bret Hart, Macho Man, etc). They made standard 8-inch figures, Bendies, 16-inch figures, thumb wrestlers & even Stretch Armstrong-like toys.

Many collectors like collecting LJNs because there are many variants in the line. Many aren’t widely-considered variants, but just slight production errors. Once LJN went out of business in 1989, Canadian toy company Grand Toys took over production for the last series.

I contacted a few hardcore WWF LJN collectors and spoke to them about variants and decided to make a definitive list for those collecting action figures and the posters that accompany the standard figures (yes, there are even poster variants).

Here is the definitive WWF LJN checklist with all the widely accepted known variants for the standard figures, Bendies, Thumb Wrestlers, 16-inch figures, Stretch wrestlers and Posters.

The 10 Best Ultimate Warrior Videos

Ultimate Warrior RIP Death 2014I’m a huge wrestling nerd and when I found out the Ultimate Warrior passed away less than 24 hours after appeared on Monday Night Raw, I was speechless.

The Ultimate Warrior was one of my favorite wrestlers growing up. I didn’t care about his lack of actual wrestling ability, but as a kid, none of that really mattered. He would sprint to the ring, shake the ropes and beat the bad guy. That’s all a kid really wants.

Later in life, I realize he was a flawed person, but aren’t we all.

There are quite a few videos of the Ultimate Warrior that are quite unflattering (mostly when he went ultra-Conservative and said some anti-gay remarks), but I chose to feature only videos of him in character. Enjoy!

Dead Wrestlers List: When and How They Died

Big Boss Man Dead Wrestler WWF WWE WCWI cannot remember a time when I didn’t watch pro wrestling. My dad and grandfather used to watch it all the time and I was enamored by the wrestlers on the TV screen.

As many people my age, I grew up in the age of Hulkamania. I always wanted him to win, but that character got old. I found myself liking “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Andre the Giant and Junk Yard Dog. I think that is when I legitimately fell in love with wrestling and not just the festival around Hulk Hogan.

The life of a professional wrestler is difficult. The road isn’t kind and bad habits can take over one’s life.

As the years went by, I’ve started seeing all my favorite WWE, WWF, WCW & ECW wrestlers die off at an alarming rate. I often wondered how they died. I made this list for those who are fans of wrestling and are interested in how their favorite wrestler passed away. Continue reading

Best 15 Pay-Per-Views Available on WWE Network Right Now

Macho Man Ricky Steamboat Wrestlemania 3 WWE Network WWFThe WWE Network has finally launched. The launch wasn’t exactly smooth. Xbox 360 doesn’t quite work yet, but all other platforms seem to be functioning now. It took a few hours for me to get through to buy it. MLB Advanced Media is in charge of the streaming and everything on the back end. They released a statement and said they never planned for the amount of first day subscribers. This caused the issues they are still sorting out.

Well, for those who put down $9.99, you have nearly the entire WWE, WCW & ECW pay-per-view library at your fingertips. It’s a bit overwhelming at first, so we try to make it easier on you and pick out the best 15 PPVs currently available to stream on the WWE Network.

We had to narrow down the list from 30-40 to give you the best of the best. This list is in no particular order, but Macho Man vs. Ricky Steamboat on Wrestlemania III is a must-see.

Wrestling Rewind: 1998 WWF SummerSlam

1998-WWF-SummerSlam-Stone Cold-UndertakerOur ‘Wrestling Rewind’ series will be a trip down memory lane for lifelong wrestling fans. We will watch old WWF, WWE and WCW pay-per-views and comment on the matches. We poke fun at the matches and compare them to today’s wrestling product. Think “Mystery Science Theater” with professional wrestling history.

In 1998, the WWF ‘Attitude Era’ was in its infancy and old characters were still being used. You can tell Vince McMahon was starting to understand what he needed to do to beat WCW, but his delivery was often flawed.

The Rock and Triple H have yet to become main event guys, but after the 1998 WWF SummerSlam event, both wrestlers were pushed to another level.

Here’s our Wrestling Rewind of 1998 WWF SummerSlam…feel free to watch along. Continue reading

Kurt Angle Arrested for DWI…Again

Kurt-Angle-Mugshot-2013TNA superstar and former gold medal Olympic wrestler Kurt Angle was arrested for DWI in Texas last night. This is his fourth alcohol-related arrest in six years.

He went to Twitter this morning and vowed to seek the help he needs and to enter rehab. He added, “I can beat this” and we hope he does as well.

The timing of Angle’s arrest couldn’t come at a worse time professionally. He is set to be the second inductee into the ‘TNA Hall of Fame’ in October and is currently in the middle of a major storyline on Impact Wrestling television program. He has a large role in a stable called the ‘Main Event Mafia’ which is feuding with another stable, ‘Aces & Eights’. It is unknown at this time if he will be going into an inpatient or outpatient rehab program.

We breakdown some of the events in Angle’s life that started his downward spiral. Continue reading

[VIDEO] Arena Football Player Does ‘People’s Elbow’ as Touchdown Celebration

The Utah Blaze is a team in the Arena Football League (oh, that AFL still exists?). Utah’s LaVaughn Macon runs a kickoff return for a touchdown in a 48-46 win over the Cleveland Gladiators, then something amazing happens…a teammate knocks him down and proceeds to do the “People’s Elbow” move made popular by WWE superstar The Rock.

Will The Wyatt Family Succeed in WWE?

Wyatt+Family+WWE+We+Are+HereI’ve been a huge WWF/WWE since before I could talk. I used to watch ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’ every weekend. I’d also scour the limited amount of television channels in the 80’s for random AWA, NWA, WCW, World Class and Bruiser Bedlam wrestling shows.

The characters have become stale over the years and not many superstars or wrestling factions feel original. Every gimmick has been done a thousand times. This is why WWE’s ‘The Wyatt Family’ feels so fresh.

I realize The Wyatt Family isn’t 100% original. It’s based off Robert DeNiro’s character in ‘Cape Fear’ and has a Raven’s ‘The Flock’ feel to it.

After weeks of vignettes teasing their RAW debut, they finally appeared and beat up Kane. Will they succeed or eventually become a comedy act (i.e. Great Khali/Boogeyman).? Continue reading
