Two Fans Trip on Mushrooms at WWE Event, Hilarity Ensues

Have you ever attended a professional wrestling event? Could you imagine watching it on drugs?

Well, two fans recently attended a WWE live event in Vancouver after eating psilocybin mushrooms. A kind of mushroom that gives a person psychedelic effects after eating them.

Reddit user ‘illmurray’ and his friend posted on the popular website and gave a detailed account of their experience at the show. He experiences sadness, beauty, thoughts of our place in evolution and marks out hard when he sees El Torito, a little person wrestler in a bull costume.

I laughed out loud while reading his post. I had to share it with you guys.

Sports Crush: WWE Diva – Summer Rae

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush’ posts since we launched AmericasWhiteBoy.com a few years ago. We’ve spotlighted sportscasters, MMA fighters, and Olympians and WWE Diva A.J. Lee. The response was so great, we decided to profile another WWE Diva, Summer Rae.

Summer Rae (her real name Danielle Moinet) started out as a player in the Lingerie Football League. She became the face of the league while she played for the Chicago Bliss. She quit playing in 2011 to focus on professional wrestling.

Summer Rae is the currently the valet/dance partner for WWE Superstar Fandango. The WWE was missing a blonde diva since Kelly Kelly left the company in 2012. She has been in WWE NXT development territory since 2011.

Damien Sandow’s Loss Hurts ‘Money In The Bank’

WWE’s ‘Money In The Bank’ has become one of the most-anticipated events of the year. The concept started in 2005 when Edge won and then used his title contract immediately after John Cena lost at the New Year’s Resolution pay-per-view. Edge held onto the briefcase for nine months before he found the perfect opportunity.

The match itself became so popular that WWE turned it into its own pay-per-view. Both Smackdown and RAW have a match and the winner can cash for a title shot. Currently, the WWE Championship title is on RAW and the World’s Heavyweight Championship title is on Smackdown.

No MITB winner has ever lost when cashing in their briefcase for a title shot (Cena didn’t get title, but won via DQ). MITB winners usually cash in when the current champion is beaten up after a match. Sandow did just that, but the outcome was not the same.

Sports Crush: A.J. Lee

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush’ posts since we launched AmericasWhiteBoy.com a few years ago. We’ve spotlighted sportscasters, MMA fighters, and Olympians, but there hasn’t been a post about a professional wrestler…until today.

I’ve watched wrestling religiously every week as long as I can remember. I still make sure I keep my schedule open on Monday night’s to watch WWE’s ‘RAW’.

Female professional wrestlers are known as ‘Divas’ in the WWE. There is one specific diva that caught our eye.

A.J. Lee is the current Divas Championship holder and fellow nerd. She reads comic books, likes skulls and other things a punk nerd would enjoy. She’s the darling of all the internet wrestling fans.

Wrestling Rewind: 1998 WWF SummerSlam

Our ‘Wrestling Rewind’ series will be a trip down memory lane for lifelong wrestling fans. We will watch old WWF, WWE and WCW pay-per-views and comment on the matches. We poke fun at the matches and compare them to today’s wrestling product. Think “Mystery Science Theater” with professional wrestling history.

In 1998, the WWF ‘Attitude Era’ was in its infancy and old characters were still being used. You can tell Vince McMahon was starting to understand what he needed to do to beat WCW, but his delivery was often flawed.

The Rock and Triple H have yet to become main event guys, but after the 1998 WWF SummerSlam event, both wrestlers were pushed to another level.

Kurt Angle Arrested for DWI…Again

TNA superstar and former gold medal Olympic wrestler Kurt Angle was arrested for DWI in Texas last night. This is his fourth alcohol-related arrest in six years.

He went to Twitter this morning and vowed to seek the help he needs and to enter rehab. He added, “I can beat this” and we hope he does as well.

The timing of Angle’s arrest couldn’t come at a worse time professionally. He is set to be the second inductee into the ‘TNA Hall of Fame’ in October and is currently in the middle of a major storyline on Impact Wrestling television program. He has a large role in a stable called the ‘Main Event Mafia’ which is feuding with another stable, ‘Aces & Eights’. It is unknown at this time if he will be going into an inpatient or outpatient rehab program.

[VIDEO] Arena Football Player Does ‘People’s Elbow’ as Touchdown Celebration

The Utah Blaze is a team in the Arena Football League (oh, that AFL still exists?). Utah’s LaVaughn Macon runs a kickoff return for a touchdown in a 48-46 win over the Cleveland Gladiators, then something amazing happens…a teammate knocks him down and proceeds to do the “People’s Elbow” move made popular by WWE superstar The Rock.

Will The Wyatt Family Succeed in WWE?

I’ve been a huge WWF/WWE since before I could talk. I used to watch ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’ every weekend. I’d also scour the limited amount of television channels in the 80’s for random AWA, NWA, WCW, World Class and Bruiser Bedlam wrestling shows.

The characters have become stale over the years and not many superstars or wrestling factions feel original. Every gimmick has been done a thousand times. This is why WWE’s ‘The Wyatt Family’ feels so fresh.

I realize The Wyatt Family isn’t 100% original. It’s based off Robert DeNiro’s character in ‘Cape Fear’ and has a Raven’s ‘The Flock’ feel to it.

After weeks of vignettes teasing their RAW debut, they finally appeared and beat up Kane. Will they succeed or eventually become a comedy act (i.e. Great Khali/Boogeyman).? Continue reading →

Toy Crazy: 1990s WWF Hasbro Action Figures

I know we all had toys as a kid that either got destroyed or sold by your parents at a yard sale. Well, a lot of those toys go for big money on eBay. In particular, the WWF Hasbro line of toys from the 90’s.

The WWF Hasbro line had figures of recognizable fame (Hulk Hogan, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Bret Hart, Macho Man, etc) and those wrestlers even had multiple versions available to buy.

The action figure line didn’t have big names, it also had little-know personalities as Skinner, The Mountie and ‘The Model’ Rick Martel, but are common and not worth a lot.

10 Awesome Macho Man Art Prints

I recently bought a couple art prints on Etsy. I bought two prints from artist Rob Osborne, one was of musician (and life role model) Prince and the other was of former pro wrestler Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage. The prints are on high-quality paper and was very pleased with them. They look very nice addition in my office/podcast studio.

I was looking at the items on my wall and I began to wonder if other artists were also inspired by ‘Macho Madness’. It only took a quick Google search to find some gems I would like to share with you and the places where you could buy these prints online.

A few more searches of old school WWE wrestlers were made and Macho Man isn’t the only one whose image has outlived their wrestling career. I will have to write a few posts about those wrestlers in the future, but for now, here are ten awesome Macho Man-inspired art prints. Continue reading →

Ten Wrestlers Who Deserve to be in WWE Hall of Fame

The 2013 WWE Hall of Fame class has been announced, well the headliners at least. Mick Foley, Bob Backlund, Trish Stratus, and most importantly, Bruno Sammartino are set to be inducted in Madison Square Garden before Wrestlemania 29.

Sammartino is the biggest name in the upcoming class. He has been dead-set against being inducted, but finally accepted the induction. He believes the current state of professional wrestling feeds the bottom denominator. He has been vocal about the vulgarity in “sports entertainment” and vowed to never accepted an induction invitation. I don’t know what changed, but I’m glad he will finally be in.

10 Possible Surprise Entrants in the 2013 ‘WWE Royal Rumble’

Every year the WWE puts on the ‘Royal Rumble” pay-per-view with much fanfare. The 30-man battle royal is one of the most popular matches of the year. The winner receives a title match at wrestling’s biggest event, ‘Wrestlemania’. Over the past decade, many old WWE superstars have come back to appear in the event. Kevin Nash, Booker T., Honky Tonk Man and Mick Foley are some of the names who were surprise entrants.

The Rumble match itself has taken a backseat to the return of The Rock. He comes back to face CM Punk for the WWE Championship. It is expected that a few big surprises will happen in their match, since The Rock has already been slated to appear at this year’s ‘Wrestlemania’.
