The SEC still has some hard-to-predict marquee matchups, like Vanderbilt at Texas. No one would have thought this game would be must-see when they scheduled it a couple years ago.

The big marquee games appear to be a bit underwhelming this week. It’s not surprising, as teams tend to save their bigger games for November. Teams are just crossing off mandated conference match-ups, which can be dangerous.
Keep an eye out for some upsets. Underdogs can sneak up and pick off some contenders during the doldrums of late-October college football.

Going into the season, the Red River Shootout looked to be a can’t miss game with a pair of talented quarterbacks, John Mateer and Arch Manning, but a lot has changed since the start of the year. It’s currently unknown if Mateer will play, and Manning has been very underwhelming.

We were spoiled by all the marquee games in Week 1, so the games since have left us a bit flat. We do have some solid SEC match-ups this week and Texas A&M vs Notre Dame is a nice litmus test for both programs.
We handicap a few sleeper teams this week. I think South Florida could string together some wins and make their ‘upset win’ over Florida not look so bad for the Gators.

I usually don’t do too many college football betting posts after the regular season. It’s hard to do weekly betting picks for bowl games due to all the transfer portal and the coaching carousel changes. This year, due to the new College Football Playoff format, it’s much easier to do the playoff games.

We are in a bit of a lull when it comes to game hype. We don’t have a bunch of rivalry games we will see over the final weeks of the regular season. We are basically see a lot of games between teams finishing out their conference schedule.
The marquee games this week wouldn’t make a blip most weeks, but the Georgia/Tennessee game intrigues me. I also want to see if BYU can stay perfect.

Unlike the NFL, there appears to be a ton of teams out on bye this week. We still have some massive games on the schedule, but it just feels light overall.
Georgia vs Florida and Oregon vs Michigan would normally be ‘championship or bust’ sort of games, but both have double-digit point spreads this year. At least one traditional matchup does have College Football Playoff implications when Ohio State travels to Penn State on Saturday afternoon.

We don’t have a huge marquee games this week like Alabama vs Georgia, but I think the schedule has a depth of very good games on the schedule.
We have some notable Big Ten match-ups this week with Iowa travelling to Ohio State and Michigan flies out West to face Washington.

It was a ‘somewhat’ successful opening week of the college football season. I was able to hit a parlay, which was needed to profit.
I usually stay away from large point spreads, but I sucked it up last week, and hit on most of those. There is just too many factors that need to happen for a team to cover a spread larger than 35 points.
