2013 MLB Team Preview: Milwaukee Brewers

Many believed the loss of Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun’s ~~steroid suspension~~ (almost suspension) and the eventually trading Zack Greinke away, would push the Brewers down a few spots in the NL Central. They finished the season over .500 and one could argue if they had a competent closer, they could have received a Wild Card spot.

Are the Brewers still on the same level as the Reds and Cardinals?

Will Milwaukee overachieve again or will they come back down to Earth?

2013 Fantasy Baseball: Top 30 Second Baseman + Sleepers

Second Base, as always, is one of the trickiest positions to fill in fantasy baseball. Unlike the corner infield positions, it’s hard to find power and average without missing out on steals.

There are a few elite second baseman, but the position isn’t as deep as 1B, 3B and outfield. If you want a top-tier second baseman, you will have to use a high pick.

Last year, I posted a collection of ten videos of Skip Bayless either being a gasbag or getting called out for being a comment troll. During the transition from Blogger to WordPress, the videos were lost in the process. It gives me a chance to update the post.

It was great timing since Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman hit Skip Bayless with a verbal piledriver this week on ESPN ‘First Take. Sherman went from speaking facts on why he’s better than Darelle Revis to attacking Bayless personally. I have a feeling many professional athletes around the country are giving Sherman a standing ovation.

2013 MLB Team Preview: Miami Marlins

After running Joe Girardi out of town and trading five of his best players last season, team owner Jeffrey Loria is one of the most hated men in Miami.

The Marlins spent big money last season to open its new state-of-the-art stadium. The entire NL East got better and the Marlins didn’t produce. He decided to blow up the team and trade Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, and others in another salary dump by the Marlins.

Will Miami fail to reach one million in attendance this season?

Miami Heat’s “Harlem Shake” Video

We posted the Columbus Blue Jackets’ “Harlem Shake” video a few weeks ago and the Miami Heat knocked their attempt out of the water.

The video starts with Chris “The Birdman” Andersen (otherwise known as “the white guy with the tattoos”) flying around Miami’s locker room. Then it jumps to a scene where everybody is breaking a piece off. Lebron James has a king hat, Chris Bosh is looking goofy as ever, and (I think) Dwyane Wade is in the bear’s head.

I want to hate the Heat, but with videos like this, it’s hard.

2013 MLB Team Preview: Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are officially all-in on competing for a World Series win in 2013. The Magic Johnson-led ownership group are working on finalizing a TV deal that’s upwards of $7 billion dollars over the course of the deal. They have the money to sign every major free agent and they started with signing pitcher Zack Greinke.

Will the ex-Boston group of Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett bounce back from an ugly 2012 season?

Is Don Mattingly a lame duck manager or will the Dodgers sign him to a new deal soon?

Podcast Starter Kit: “The Comedy Button”

If you’re new to the podcast world and unsure about what to subscribe to on Itunes, we’re here to help.

We listen to various podcasts while we write, so we know some of the gems buried in the pile of bad podcasts in Itunes.

The Comedy Button is a comedy podcast made by guys in the video game industry. Many of the guys currently write at IGN or Geekbox. The cast includes: Anthony Gallegos, Ryan Scott, Brian Altano, Scott Bromley and Max Scoville.

A lot of the humor is very geek-oriented (video games, comic books), but once you listen to an episode, you’ll want to hear more.

2013 MLB Team Preview: Los Angeles Angels

After signing Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson last offseason, Angels’ fans expected a World Series ring last season. They struggled out of the gate and once they righted the ship, Oakland and Texas had a grip on the playoffs spots.

This offseason they upped the ante even more by adding Josh Hamilton, Ryan Madsen, Jason Vargas and Tommy Hanson. The Angels are built to win now and it’s hard not to pick them to win the AL West and represent the league in the World Series in October.

Can Mike Trout repeat his rookie campaign or will he fall victim to a sophomore slump?

As a fan, you dread hearing “Player X visited Dr. James Andrews this morning”, because you know an athlete most likely suffered a major injury. He is the most famous orthopedic surgeon on Earth. He specializes in ulner collateral ligament reconstruction, otherwise known as Tommy John surgery, ACL reconstruction surgery, and other major procedures. He is also the team doctor for Auburn and Alabama universities and the NFL’s Washington Redskins.

Any Given Monday: Sports Injuries and How to Prevent Them, For Athletes, Parents, and Coaches – Based on My Life in Sports Medicine was written by Dr. Andrews with Don Yaeger. It’s an informative book on injuries in youth sports and methods to help reduce them.

2013 MLB Team Preview: Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals made one of the biggest trades this offseason. They traded a package featuring top prospect Wil Myers to Tampa Bay for two MLB-level starters James Shields and Wade Davis. Does this movie make you believe the Royals are ready to win now?

The Royals have not shown any signs they are ready to compete in the AL Central. Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer were once top prospects, but haven’t made ways in the Majors. There are holes in their team that won’t be fixed by the end of the season.

Will the Royals trade Jeff Francoeur for major-league ready players or prospects to build toward the future?

NHL Talk: Bad Refs, Viktor Fasth & ‘Bros Night Out’

Joe Pasquali and Eddie Theisen are two die-hard NHL fans. They both watch every hockey game, every night (almost).

The guys talk about Viktor Fasth, bad referee calls, who is the best goalie in the Western Conference and if Colorado’s “Guys Night Out” is the NHL team’s ticket promotion with the most popped collars.

It’s also National Chili Day. It’s an excuse to eat your weight in Skyline Chili.

By the way, neither of these guys have a girlfriend.
