WWE Should Stop Making ‘Royal Rumble’ So Predictable

The 2015 ‘Royal Rumble’ pay-per-view happened last night in Philadelphia. Wrestling fans always look forward to this event every year. It’s arguably the second-best wrestling night of the year, just behind ‘Wrestlemania’. Unfortunately, wrestling fans were left disappointed.

The Rumble is the unofficial start to the ‘Road to Wrestlemania’. Not only are fans excited to see which surprise entrants will enter the Rumble, but the other matches help set the table for feuds through Mania. The WWE did a pretty poor job in every facet.

The WWE has been playing it safe since the WWE Network launched. Their storytelling ability has been stuck in the 80’s since they reverted back to a PG rating. What can they do to fix last night’s blunder?

‘The Authority’ Storyline Was A Failure for WWE

I’ve been a fan of pro wrestling as long as I can remember. I love the WWE, but I always root for startup wrestling promotions to do well. No one will ever match WWE’s marketshare, but competition breeds creativity. WWE definitely needs to be pushed.

The WWE has pushed a storyline around Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. The duo call themselves ‘The Authority’ and have been running the company with an iron fist. The storyline officially came into fruition on August 18th, 2013, the night of Summerslam. Triple H caused Daniel Bryan to lose the WWE title to Randy Orton.

The storyline lasted 14 months and will historically be seen as a failure…but it wasn’t completely their fault.

The 10 Best Ultimate Warrior Videos

I’m a huge wrestling nerd and when I found out the Ultimate Warrior passed away less than 24 hours after appeared on Monday Night Raw, I was speechless.

The Ultimate Warrior was one of my favorite wrestlers growing up. I didn’t care about his lack of actual wrestling ability, but as a kid, none of that really mattered. He would sprint to the ring, shake the ropes and beat the bad guy. That’s all a kid really wants.

Later in life, I realize he was a flawed person, but aren’t we all.

There are quite a few videos of the Ultimate Warrior that are quite unflattering (mostly when he went ultra-Conservative and said some anti-gay remarks), but I chose to feature only videos of him in character. Enjoy!

Sports Crush: The Bella Twins

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush’ posts since we launched AmericasWhiteBoy.com a few years ago. We’ve spotlighted sportscasters, female MMA fighters, Olympians and WWE Divas Summer Rae, A.J. Lee & Paige. The response was so great, we decided to double the pleasure by featuring The Bella Twins (Nikki Bella & Brie Bella).

The Bella Twins have been in the WWE for a few years, with a brief hiatus in 2012. Those who don’t watch WWE, but love reality television, you will recognize them from E!’s “Total Divas” reality show.

You have seen a lot of them lately, because they are beautiful AND it helps that they are dating the two most popular WWE superstars, John Cena & Daniel Bryan.

Dead Wrestlers List: When and How They Died

I cannot remember a time when I didn’t watch pro wrestling. My dad and grandfather used to watch it all the time and I was enamored by the wrestlers on the TV screen.

As many people my age, I grew up in the age of Hulkamania. I always wanted him to win, but that character got old. I found myself liking “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Andre the Giant and Junk Yard Dog. I think that is when I legitimately fell in love with wrestling and not just the festival around Hulk Hogan.

The life of a professional wrestler is difficult. The road isn’t kind and bad habits can take over one’s life.

As the years went by, I’ve started seeing all my favorite WWE, WWF, WCW & ECW wrestlers die off at an alarming rate. I often wondered how they died. I made this list for those who are fans of wrestling and are interested in how their favorite wrestler passed away. Continue reading →

Sports Crush: WWE Diva – Paige

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush’ posts since we launched AmericasWhiteBoy.com a few years ago. We’ve spotlighted sportscasters, female MMA fighters, Olympians and WWE Divas Summer Rae & A.J. Lee. The response was so great, we decided to profile another WWE Diva, current WWE NXT Women’s Champion, Paige.

Paige (her real name Saraya-Jade Bevis) has been wrestling since she was 13. She comes from a wrestling family. Her parents (Saraya and Ricky Knight) were both wrestlers in England. Her brother Zak Knight is currently wrestling for his father’s wrestling promotion ‘World Association of Wrestling’.

She was known as Britani Knight before she came into the WWE in 2011. She is only 21 years old and her future is bright. She should be on the main WWE roster at some point this year.

Once you see Paige, you’ll know why we’re crushing on her. We’ve added some photos and a very special .GIF for you to enjoy.

Best 15 Pay-Per-Views Available on WWE Network Right Now

The WWE Network has finally launched. The launch wasn’t exactly smooth. Xbox 360 doesn’t quite work yet, but all other platforms seem to be functioning now. It took a few hours for me to get through to buy it. MLB Advanced Media is in charge of the streaming and everything on the back end. They released a statement and said they never planned for the amount of first day subscribers. This caused the issues they are still sorting out.

Well, for those who put down $9.99, you have nearly the entire WWE, WCW & ECW pay-per-view library at your fingertips. It’s a bit overwhelming at first, so we try to make it easier on you and pick out the best 15 PPVs currently available to stream on the WWE Network.

We had to narrow down the list from 30-40 to give you the best of the best. This list is in no particular order, but Macho Man vs. Ricky Steamboat on Wrestlemania III is a must-see.

Damien Sandow’s Loss Hurts ‘Money In The Bank’

WWE’s ‘Money In The Bank’ has become one of the most-anticipated events of the year. The concept started in 2005 when Edge won and then used his title contract immediately after John Cena lost at the New Year’s Resolution pay-per-view. Edge held onto the briefcase for nine months before he found the perfect opportunity.

The match itself became so popular that WWE turned it into its own pay-per-view. Both Smackdown and RAW have a match and the winner can cash for a title shot. Currently, the WWE Championship title is on RAW and the World’s Heavyweight Championship title is on Smackdown.

No MITB winner has ever lost when cashing in their briefcase for a title shot (Cena didn’t get title, but won via DQ). MITB winners usually cash in when the current champion is beaten up after a match. Sandow did just that, but the outcome was not the same.

Ten Wrestlers Who Deserve to be in WWE Hall of Fame

The 2013 WWE Hall of Fame class has been announced, well the headliners at least. Mick Foley, Bob Backlund, Trish Stratus, and most importantly, Bruno Sammartino are set to be inducted in Madison Square Garden before Wrestlemania 29.

Sammartino is the biggest name in the upcoming class. He has been dead-set against being inducted, but finally accepted the induction. He believes the current state of professional wrestling feeds the bottom denominator. He has been vocal about the vulgarity in “sports entertainment” and vowed to never accepted an induction invitation. I don’t know what changed, but I’m glad he will finally be in.

10 Possible Surprise Entrants in the 2013 ‘WWE Royal Rumble’

Every year the WWE puts on the ‘Royal Rumble” pay-per-view with much fanfare. The 30-man battle royal is one of the most popular matches of the year. The winner receives a title match at wrestling’s biggest event, ‘Wrestlemania’. Over the past decade, many old WWE superstars have come back to appear in the event. Kevin Nash, Booker T., Honky Tonk Man and Mick Foley are some of the names who were surprise entrants.

The Rumble match itself has taken a backseat to the return of The Rock. He comes back to face CM Punk for the WWE Championship. It is expected that a few big surprises will happen in their match, since The Rock has already been slated to appear at this year’s ‘Wrestlemania’.

Review – "WWE: Undertaker – The Streak" DVD

The Undertaker has the most impressive winning streak in professional wrestling history. He has won every match he has wrestled in at Wrestlemania. He is a perfect 20-0 and counting.

“WWE: Undertaker – The Streak” is a compilation of every match The Undertaker has ever wrestled at Wrestlemania. The four-disc set is a must-have for any professional wrestling fan. This collection is something a fan could watch for years to come and show it to their children.

If you’re a fan of The Undertaker, buying “The Streak” can save you hundreds of dollars and precious time. You may already own most of the Wrestlemania DVDs, but to watch The Undertaker’s matches, you will not have to locate them and find his match. You will now have every match at your fingertips. If you’re only an The Undertaker fan, you will not have to buy a few of the Wrestlemania DVDs that you wouldn’t normally own (although I recommend buying the WWE’s Wrestlemania box-set). YouTube Gold: "Botchamania"

If you’re a fan of professional wrestling, bloopers and/or 8-bit music, you’ll love the “Botchamania” series on YouTube. There are over 200 episodes so far and they keep getting better. You’ll have to watch a few to understand all of the inside jokes that run during each episode, but you will catch on.

The biggest running joke in ‘Botchamania’ is the non-stop jokes made at the expense of a wrestling promotion called CZW. They run a blooper reel from the promotion during every episode. The CZW section is usually filled with a lot of ‘JESUS!’ screams. Other running jokes include Jim Cornette’s poor decisions, Taz and Booker T’s insane commentary, and wrestlers whispering to each other in the ring.
