2024 NCAA Football – Week 2 Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 14-10-1 against the spread in Week 1 of the 2024-25 College Football season.

It was a ‘somewhat’ successful opening week of the college football season. I was able to hit a parlay, which was needed to profit.

I usually stay away from large point spreads, but I sucked it up last week, and hit on most of those. There is just too many factors that need to happen for a team to cover a spread larger than 35 points.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick 25 college football games against the spread in Week 2 of the 2024-25 NCAA Football season (September 7th, 2024).

2022 College Football: All-Name Team

This is one of my favorite posts to do every year, but due to all the knowns about the college football season at this point last year, we didn’t compile a list. We are happy to bring this back this year and debut some new names.

What makes a great college football name?

A good litmus test is if it works as a potential pro wrestling name, it works in college football. It also works if a name sounds like a verb, phrase, a certain body part or just a bad ass football name that makes them sound tough.

We went through every team in the top two divisions in the NCAA. We went through ever single name and picked out the ones that were funny and some names we just wish we had.

2019 NCAA Football – Week 6 Betting Picks Against Spread

2019 College Football Picks Against the Spread Week 6 NCAA Baylor Bears cheerleadersI apologize for getting my college football picks out this late, but my hosting company decided to migrate thousands of sites to larger servers…and didn’t get an email telling me this was going to happen. After it was moved, I had to call the security company that protects my site. The hosting company didn’t tell them the new IP address of the server and they had to add that manually. So, after 30 hours of random back-and-forth calls, it’s now fixed.

There are some huge games this week that could knock off a few conference championship contenders. Iowa vs Michigan and Auburn vs Florida are two must-watch games this week.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick 25 college football games against the spread in Week 6 of the 2019-20 NCAA Football season (October 5th,, 2019). We also pick some smaller conference games.

2016 NCAA Football – Week 10 Betting Picks Against Spread

usc-song-girl-americas-white-boy-week-10-college-football-picks-against-the-spread-gambling-picksI went 14-11 last week after missing a few ACC game picks. I still think the Clemson -4.5 pick against Florida State hit about 9 out of 10 times. Clemson defense let Florida State have some easy scores before halftime.

There are some big games on the schedule this week. This weekend’s slate would have been amazing if TCU and Oregon would have been as good as past year’s teams.

I stayed away from a lot of the SEC games last week, but felt there were some good plays this week. I still feel like Alabama is alone on the top and then every other team in the conference is at about the same talent level. It makes for picking games a bit of a struggle.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (November 5th, 2016) and a few Thursday games. We also pick five extra games as a bonus.

2016 NCAA Football – Week 9 Betting Picks Against Spread

west-virginia-cheerleaderI went 15-9-1 again last week. I struggled with some of the marquee games, but was near-perfect picking smaller conference games.

SEC game outcome are going to start to get weird. Upsets start to happen at this point ever season. They start devouring each other to make way for ACC and Big Ten teams to jump up in the polls.

I stayed away from a lot of the SEC games this weekend. I feel like the conference is basically ‘Alabama’ and then ‘everyone else.’ Teams like Texas A&M, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, etc are just going to feed on each other.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (October 29th, 2016) and a few Thursday games. We also pick five extra games as a bonus.

2016 NCAA Football – Week 7 Betting Picks Against Spread

unc-cheerleader-rachelle09I went 12-11-2 after some big upsets made for a tense afternoon. I was pretty happy to just end up around .500 after some of my bad beats.

I don’t expect weather to be an issue this weekend. Hurricane Matthew screwed up a few games last week and outright cancelled LSU/Florida.

There are a few key games in the Big Ten and SEC, but it’s a pretty average slate of games this weekend. There are a lot of top conference teams playing conference basement dwellers. It always seems like crazy things happen when there’s a bunch of “ho-hum” games.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (October 15th, 2016) and a few Thursday games. We also pick five extra games as a bonus.

2015 NCAA Football – Week 2 Betting Picks Against Spread

funny fan america's white boy ncaa college football picks against the spread week 2 sweetbobSorry I didn’t post a ‘college football picks against the spread’ post last week. I never bet on the first week of college football. It’s too risky and honestly, a lot of it is just dumb luck. You don’t get a preseason to watch the teams and it’s a crapshoot. I like going into a ‘betting season’ with more knowledge than just what comes in a media guide.

I’ve been making college football picks against the spread for the last five or six years. I’ve only been keeping a running total the last two years. I am 282-197-12 during that time.

I’ve been on a hot streak the last two years. Any year in which you have a 60%+ success rate on your bets. it is a successful year. I hope I helped you guys out.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (September 12th, 2015), and pick some smaller conference games as well. Enjoy!

2014 NCAA Football – Week 12 Betting Picks Against Spread

I went 12-8 last week, but I missed the Notre Dame game pretty bad. I admit my failures and oh boy, that one was a big one. My record is now 110-86-3 on the season.

Frigid temperatures are expected to hit across the heart of the country this weekend. Make sure to check the forecast before you lay your bets down. I don’t see any snow, but temps in the 30’s are likely (unless you live on the West Coast or the South…I’m sure those places will still be beautiful).

We were 134-79-8 against the spread betting on college football games last season. We hope to keep it going and help you guys out again this season.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (November 15th, 2014), and picked some smaller conference games as well. Enjoy!

2014 March Madness: #6 Baylor vs #11 Nebraska

Isaiah Austin Baylor Bears 2014 NCAA TournamentWe are picking every NCAA Tournament game in an effort to help you fill out your bracket and win your office pool.

Nebraska was the most surprising team in the Big Ten. It has been a long time since they made an NCAA Tournament appearance. They had a big wins, but were also blown out too many times. Do they belong in the tournament this season?

The Big 12 was really good this season. Six teams in the conference made the NCAA Tournament. Baylor was only .500 in the conference and was still deemed good enough for a #6 seed. Was that the correct seeding or should they have been ranked lower?

Who do you think will win? We help you fill out your bracket.

2012 Big Ten Preview: Nebraska Cornhuskers

Joe Pasquali, our resident college football analyst, is back again this year to cover NCAA college football. He has completed a team preview for every team in the Big Ten. What can Nebraska accomplish in their second season in the Big Ten?

Expectations were high on Nebraska going into the 2011 season coming off of an impressive last year in the Big 12. Their first season in the new Big 10 went well but didn’t live up to the high expectations of Cornhusker nation. Optimism is still high in Lincoln, but I don’t think this team is ready to unseat the top of the Big 10 just yet. The schedule is more kind, they get two of their three toughest games at home (Wisconsin, Michigan) in prime time 8 PM slots and have a joke of a non-conference schedule (Southern Miss, UCLA, Arkansas State, Idaho State).

Offense (B+)

About as one dimensional of a team as you see in the Big Ten, Nebraska has always been proud of a great rushing offense and little else. Rex Burkhead returns for his senior season as one of the nation’s top running backs (1,357 yards last year, 17 TD’s). Along with a 100% healthy Talyor Martinez, one of the better running QB’s around, this offense will continue to pound the ball. First team all-conference selection Spencer Long (G) anchors and offensive line which will have three new starters in 2012. They’ll have four easy games to gel before conference play starts, and if they can, Nebraska will put up impressive numbers on the ground again.

Defense (B+)

Replacing key defensive players will be a tough task for Nebraska in 2012. Linebacker Levonte David was the backbone to the Cornhusker defense and this year’s team appears to be going with quantity over quality.  The staff has pledged to have more depth to the defense this year, using JUCO transfer Zaire Anderson, Will Compton, Sean Fisher and Alonzo Whaley. The secondary gave up some big plays in big games last year (Wisconson, Michigan) but will only improve if Nebraska can get more pressure on opposing passers.  Nebraska only had 21 sacks last season, 10th in the Big Ten.

Special Teams (A+)

Brett Maher is a stud. Well, as much of a stud as a kicker/punter can be. Maher was all conference as a kicker and punter last season, along with being a semi-finalist for the Lou Groza award (for the nation’s top kicker). His ability to nail field goals and pin opponents deep with great punting will be a huge help to Nebraska and could be the difference in big games.

Coaching (B)

Bo Pelini is a good coach and is entering his fifth year at Nebraska (39-16 overall). The offensive will improve under another season of Tim Beck (2nd season), but can the defense? John Pacuchis takes over the blackshirts and hopes to bring back the toughness of Cornhusker D.

Ohio State: Schedule Ruined Their Season

Oregon and Auburn will meet in the BCS Championship game this season. Both teams were undefeated and even if Ohio State did the same, they wouldn’t made it. They would have been left out with TCU. Their non-conference schedule is to blame, since they finished the season with a worse SOS than Boise State. What can Ohio State do to help their cause in the future? Can they make the big game with their current schedule in 2011 and 2012?
The Ohio State Buckeyes are perennial contenders to win the BCS Championship, but their lone loss to the Wisconsin Badgers, killed that goal this season. Their non-conference schedule was weak compared to other teams and not playing Michigan State this season, made their strength of schedule mediocre.
It was the way the schedule fell and out of Ohio State’s control…for the most part.

When your non-conference schedule consists of Marshall, Miami (FL), Ohio, and Eastern Michigan, you know that you need to dominate your Big Ten schedule if you want to jump up the polls. Miami (FL) was supposed to be their marquee matchup this season, but the Hurricanes had a disappointing season, which turned OSU’s win into an average victory. The BCS is part of the checks & balance that the sport needed to keep the playing field more than just a beauty contest of the usual suspects. When Ohio State lost to Wisconsin, they were the #1 team in the country and the Badgers weren’t looking like the team that finished the season scoring 70 points a game. Even if the Buckeyes beat the Badgers and finished the regular season undefeated, they wouldn’t have made the BCS Championship game. Oregon and Auburn would have had a better computer average and left them left out, just like TCU.

Ohio State’s 2011 schedule is a little harder with their non-conference schedule being home games against Akron, Toledo, and Colorado, and a road game at Miami (FL). Colorado and Miami (FL) will have new coaches, so you don’t know what kind of first season those coaches will have. The addition of Nebraska to their conference schedule will definitely help their strength of schedule, but they don’t face Iowa for the next two seasons.

In 2012, Ohio State’s schedule ramps up, all four non-conference games are at home against Miami (OH), Cincinnati, California, and UAB. They hope that Cincinnati and California will be top 25 teams by then.

The schedule is set in stone for the Buckeyes until 2012 and I’m sure the “powers that be” are already hammering away at the schedule for the next four years after that. They need more marquee non-conference games, but it is hard to predict this far out. Miami (FL) home & home were supposed to be huge games, for both teams, but the Buckeyes picked them during the wrong two seasons. You don’t want to schedule all top 25 teams or you will end up with a schedule like Notre Dame did for years and face all contenders with Navy thrown in. Ohio State do need a tune-up game or two in their schedule. The Big Ten schedule is grueling and playing contenders on top of it, could lead to the team tailing off at the end of the season.

The addition of the Big Ten Championship game will help every team try to get into a better bowl game. If Ohio State were undefeated and had a chance to play Wisconsin again or Michigan State at the end of the year, maybe they had a shot at leapfrogging Oregon this year.

The answer for what Ohio State needs is luck. You can only worry about your own team and schedule the best you can. You just cross your fingers that the other teams will take care of their business and when you play them, you come out with a win.
