2014 NCAA Football – Week 9 Betting Picks Against Spread

Ole Miss hot cheerleaders brunette ncaa college footballLast week was up and down. You had a handful of games that didn’t live up to the billing (Bama/A&M & UK/LSU) mixed with some out-of-nowhere upsets (UNC/GA Tech). I went 10-10 and now sit at 74-63-2 on the season.

The weather is becoming colder and weather reports are becoming more and more important with each following week. Also, look at teams who faced the same team.

We were 134-79-8 against the spread betting on college football games last season. We hope to keep it going and help you guys out again this season.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (October 25th, 2014), and picked some smaller conference games as well. Enjoy!

2014 NCAA Football – Week 2 Betting Picks Against Spread

If you were wondering why I didn’t write a post picking college football games against the spread last week, here’s the reason why…I never bet Week 1 in college football. I find it almost pointless. You don’t know much about the teams because you just hear what amounts to propaganda. I find no joy in betting a 50-point spread.

I start my college football betting in Week 2. You still have some horrible lines and many teams in the power conferences don’t even have betting lines. You at least have a better idea of how a team may perform this season. I just hate going into the season blind. You at least have the preseason in the NFL to look at what you’re ‘buying’.

We were 134-79-8 against the spread betting on college football games last season. We hope to keep it going and help you guys out again this season.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday, plus a few smaller conference games as always…and a Thursday night game. Enjoy!

2014 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: Betting Picks Against The Spread

Adreian Payne Michigan State Spartans 2014 NCAA TournamentThere have been some shocking upsets so far in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. A few are still alive and want the fairytale to not fade away. Dayton, Stanford, UConn and Tennessee hope to go even deeper in the tournament.

Tournament favorites Louisville, Michigan State and Florida are still alive. Many of the pundits have these three teams winning it all or meeting in the Final Four. I think they all have a shot at winning in the Sweet Sixteen.

One of the most intriguing match-ups is in Indianapolis. Kentucky faces in-state rival Louisville. The Wildcats beat them in December, but the teams have changed over the course of the season. Will the outcome be the same?

I pick all the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen games against the spread.

2014 NCAA Tournament: Betting Picks Against The Spread

Doug McDermott 2014 NCAA Tournament Point Spread Picks Creighton BluejaysI love the NCAA Tournament. It’s my favorite time of year. The underdog victories in early rounds and the yearly tradition of coming up with a creative excuse to call in sick to work on Thursday and Friday. It should be a national holiday.

Since Sunday, I’ve been filling out NCAA Tournament brackets, writing game previews and scouring sites for College Basketball odds. I had to wait a few hours for them since they weren’t immediately available after the Selection Show.

I have a ritual the first day of the tournament. I spend the first few hours at home watching the first two sets of games (probably still in my pajamas). I then make it to a Buffalo Wild Wings or BBQ rib joint and watch the next set. I then close out the night back at home drinking a six-pack of good IPAs.

I pick all the NCAA Tournament first (second?) round games against the spread. Can Harvard pull off the upset against Cincinnati?

2014 March Madness: #4 Michigan State vs #13 Delaware

Gary Harris Michigan State Spartans 2014 NCAA TournamentWe are picking every NCAA Tournament game in an effort to help you fill out your bracket and win your office pool.

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo knows a few things about how to win the NCAA Tournament. They struggled with injuries once they started the Big Ten schedule, but are now healthy.

Delaware was the cream of the crop in the Colonial Athletic Conference. They ran through the conference schedule and won the tournament. They did struggle in their non-conference schedule. Is this indication they may struggle against Michigan State?

If Gary Harris plays up to his potential, could he win the Most Outstanding Player award?

Who do you think will win? We help you fill out your bracket.

2013 NCAA Football – Week 15 + Conference Championships – Betting Picks Against Spread

Ohio State Michigan State Hotties Big TenI was all over the board last week. I hit on a few underdogs, but missed on the Auburn/Alabama game. I am now 134-79-8 on the season.

It’s Championship Weekend! The slate of games are missing some of the teams you thought would still be playing. I’ll miss rooting against Nick Saban.

We pick against the spread for EVERY college football game on Saturday, plus the MAC Championship game on Friday Enjoy!

2013 NCAA Football – Week 14 Betting Picks Against Spread

Katherine-Webb-Auburn-AlabamaI went 13-6-1 with my picks against the spread last week. I am now 124-71-8 on the season. At this point in the season, I’m completely running on Pumpkin Pie and McRibs (not at the same time). I’m feeling great about the season and have a nice feel for what teams will do on Thanksgiving weekend.

I like a lot of home teams in Week 14 of the 2013 college football season (November 30th to be exact). Rivalry games fill the slate of games this weekend. This is the most anticipated weekend in college football. The outcomes of Auburn/Alabama, Ohio State/Michigan and Florida/Florida State will further paint what the BCS Championship game may look like. If you’re not excited about this weekend’s games, you’re not a college football fan.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday, plus a few games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference as always…and a Thursday night game. Enjoy! Continue reading

2013 NCAA Football – Week 13 Betting Picks Against Spread

528557c1e0fa4I apologize for being a little late with this week’s picks. I’ve stayed up late watching college basketball all week (Jabari Parker is amazing). I went 13-7 with my picks against the spread last week. I am now 111-65-7 on the season.

I like a lot of road teams in Week 13 of the 2013 college football season (November 23rd to be exact). I hate picking road teams this late in the season, but that’s how things shake out this week. There are a few games that seem to factor in last week’s loss or win way too much. You need to look at the last few games to really get a feel for a team.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday, plus a few games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference as always…and a Thursday night game. Enjoy!

March Madness: Midwest Region Picks

CoachKNetDukeThe Midwest Region is loaded with inconsistent teams and a few that are very underrated.

Michigan State did not get any favors from the selection committee. They are a #3 seed in a bracket with Louisville and Duke (a team that would be a #1 seed if Ryan Kelly was healthy all season).

We go through the bracket and pick potential matchups from the second round until the Final Four.

Who do you have making the Final Four from the Midwest Bracket? We pick our winners and help you fill out your bracket. Continue reading

2013 March Madness: #3 Michigan State vs #14 Valparaiso

11/12/2012. Coach Bryce Drew Credit: Photograph by Roy RitchieCinderella darling Bryce Drew is back in the NCAA Tournament. This time he’s not a player, but as Valparaiso’s coach.

CBS, for ratings sake, hope Cinderella has a slipper on hand for the #3 Michigan State (25-8) vs. #14 Valparaiso (26-7) game.

Tom Izzo was quoted saying, “I’d rather play the Lakers than another Big Ten team.” He got his wish, and thankfully he’s facing Valpo and not Kobe.

Who do you think will win? We help you fill out your bracket. Continue reading

2012 Big Ten Preview: Michigan State Spartans

Joe Pasquali, our resident college football analyst, is back with some more of Big Ten team previews. We are about halfway through the conference and the best is yet to come. Can head coach Mark Dantonio lead Michigan State to another double-digit win season?

Back-to-back 11 win seasons have made the football world take notice of the happenings in East Lansing, a school that for a long time played little brother to their state rivals in Ann Arbor. There are expectations for the Spartans to get to the next level, but I don’t see it happening this season. A tough schedule and key losses on both sides of the ball make me think they will just fall short of the Big Ten title game. The battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy (UM v MSU) should decide the Legends division.

Offense (B)

Kirk Cousins was one of the best quarterbacks in the conference and a great leader, replacing him will be the biggest obstacle in 2012 for Michigan State. Andrew Maxwell will take the reins for the Spartans, a junior who has had two years to study under Cousins. With only 57 career passes it doesn’t get much greener, but luckily he has a decent supporting cast. The offensive line was injury riddled last year, which means lots of younger players got experience. The line this year will be veteran and tough, a staple of Michigan State football. The star on offense will be running back LeVeon Bell who is primed for a huge year. The wide receiver core is absent of anyone who has caught a collegiate football before and could be a concern if defenses stock up against the rushing attack.

Defense (A)

The story for Michigan State last year was their stellar defense. The unit was ranked 6th nationally in yards allowed and recorded 44 sacks (7th in the nation). A key loss up front will be 2nd round draft pick Jerel Worthy who was a force up front at defensive tackle. William Gholston (DE) is a freak and my pick for Big Ten defensive player of the year. Behind him are two of the nation’s best linebackers in Denicos Allen and Chris Norman, both pre-season all conference picks. The secondary has three returning starters with the lone new player at free safety in Kurtis Drummond.

Special Teams (A-)

Dan Conroy enters his third year as kicker for Michigan State after putting together two solid seasons. He ranks first all time at Michigan State in field goal percentage, making 82% of his career kicks (32-39). Mike Sadler returns to do the punting duties for the second year. As a redshirt freshman he averaged a very respectable 41.1 yards per punt.

Coaching (A)

Mike Dantonio is coming off of two great years at Michigan State and is bringing in some of the best defensive talent they have seen in East Lansing. This season will depend on offensive coordinator Dan Roushar and if he can get new QB Andrew Maxwell to lead his team to another Big Ten title game.
