AEW’s “All In” Was Worth Every Penny (No Spoilers)

All Elite Wrestling has had a cloud over their heads since CM Punk and The Elite had a backstage brawl in 2022. Ratings for their flagship show “Dynamite” have been stagnant and their newest show, “Collision”, is having trouble cracking 600k viewers most weeks. Things aren’t as hot as they’ve been in the past and the tension between Punk and The Elite still continues. They desperately needed a big, successful show to help cleanse themselves of some of the last year’s stench.

AEW has been eyeing the UK market since before their debut episode of “Dynamite.” Owner Tony Khan spends a lot of time there due to his family’s ownership of Fulham Football Club. The pandemic ruined their plans of having a big show in Fulham’s home stadium. Now that things have returned to normal, they swung for the fences in their UK debut.

CM Punk Should Have Never Fought in UFC

This isn’t breaking news, but professional wrestling and mixed martial arts are two very different things.

CM Punk had his second MMA fight of his career…and it was really, really bad.

Mike Jackson, a former Golden Gloves boxer and MMA journalist, handed Punk an embarrassing loss at UFC 225. Punk gassed out after the first two minutes of the fight. Jackson then spent the rest of the fight just playing with him. He could have finished Punk at any point, but it was almost as if he wanted to show the world how inept Punk was as a fighter. Punk was doing things BJJ white belts wouldn’t even do in practice. He was over-matched, completely gassed and was just getting his face beaten in.

MLB Advanced Media is in charge of the streaming and everything on the back end. They released a statement and said they never planned for the amount of first day subscribers. This caused the issues they are still sorting out.

Well, for those who put down $9.99, you have nearly the entire WWE, WCW & ECW pay-per-view library at your fingertips. It’s a bit overwhelming at first, so we try to make it easier on you and pick out the best 15 PPVs currently available to stream on the WWE Network.

We had to narrow down the list from 30-40 to give you the best of the best. This list is in no particular order, but Macho Man vs. Ricky Steamboat on Wrestlemania III is a must-see.

Two Fans Trip on Mushrooms at WWE Event, Hilarity Ensues

El Torito Los Matadores WWEHave you ever attended a professional wrestling event? Could you imagine watching it on drugs?

Well, two fans recently attended a WWE live event in Vancouver after eating psilocybin mushrooms. A kind of mushroom that gives a person psychedelic effects after eating them.

Reddit user ‘illmurray’ and his friend posted on the popular website and gave a detailed account of their experience at the show. He experiences sadness, beauty, thoughts of our place in evolution and marks out hard when he sees El Torito, a little person wrestler in a bull costume.

I laughed out loud while reading his post. I had to share it with you guys.

Damien Sandow’s Loss Hurts ‘Money In The Bank’

Damien-Sandow-WWE-Money-In-The-BankWWE’s ‘Money In The Bank’ has become one of the most-anticipated events of the year. The concept started in 2005 when Edge won and then used his title contract immediately after John Cena lost at the New Year’s Resolution pay-per-view. Edge held onto the briefcase for nine months before he found the perfect opportunity.

The match itself became so popular that WWE turned it into its own pay-per-view. Both Smackdown and RAW have a match and the winner can cash for a title shot. Currently, the WWE Championship title is on RAW and the World’s Heavyweight Championship title is on Smackdown.

No MITB winner has ever lost when cashing in their briefcase for a title shot (Cena didn’t get title, but won via DQ). MITB winners usually cash in when the current champion is beaten up after a match. Sandow did just that, but the outcome was not the same.

10 Possible Surprise Entrants in the 2013 ‘WWE Royal Rumble’

Every year the WWE puts on the ‘Royal Rumble” pay-per-view with much fanfare. The 30-man battle royal is one of the most popular matches of the year. The winner receives a title match at wrestling’s biggest event, ‘Wrestlemania’. Over the past decade, many old WWE superstars have come back to appear in the event. Kevin Nash, Booker T., Honky Tonk Man and Mick Foley are some of the names who were surprise entrants.

The Rumble match itself has taken a backseat to the return of The Rock. He comes back to face CM Punk for the WWE Championship. It is expected that a few big surprises will happen in their match, since The Rock has already been slated to appear at this year’s ‘Wrestlemania’.

There is speculation who this year’s surprise entries will be. No need to speculate. Here are ten possible surprise entrants in this year’s WWE ‘Royal Rumble’. Continue reading

YouTube Gold: "Botchamania"

If you’re a fan of professional wrestling, bloopers and/or 8-bit music, you’ll love the “Botchamania” series on YouTube. There are over 200 episodes so far and they keep getting better. You’ll have to watch a few to understand all of the inside jokes that run during each episode, but you will catch on.

The biggest running joke in ‘Botchamania’ is the non-stop jokes made at the expense of a wrestling promotion called CZW. They run a blooper reel from the promotion during every episode. The CZW section is usually filled with a lot of ‘JESUS!’ screams. Other running jokes include Jim Cornette’s poor decisions, Taz and Booker T’s insane commentary, and wrestlers whispering to each other in the ring.

Here are a few episodes to whet your appetite…after the jump.

Will Social Media Ruin Wrestlemania 28?

Over the last six months, WWE Entertainment has saturated their television programming with Twitter & Facebook announcements. It has gotten to a point that, as they come to the ring, each wrestler’s Twitter account name is listed under their names. They stop the flow of the match to announce when a WWE wrestler, event, or even catch-phrase start to trend. Will these announcement ruin the Wrestlemania experience and date the event in later years?

Before I go on an “anti-social media” rant, I like to admit that I regularly use my own Twitter and Facebook accounts. I think that they are extremely useful and can give anyone a platform. Saying all of that, there is a limit to one’s announcements and a saturation level has been met at WWE. I have had my Twitter account for nearly four years, but you would think that it is a fresh and new invention.

WWE first started to mention social media when The Rock launched Facebook and Twitter accounts. His accounts exploded and got hundred of thousands of followers with days and now currently stands at a few million. WWE started to become obsessed with social media, especially when a low-card wrestler named Zack Ryder started to get people chanting his name during WWE Raw. He gained an underground following by releasing “Z! True Long Island Story,” an hilarious YouTube series of videos. He went from not being on television to wrestling in a match at Wrestlemania 28. He proof that social media can change and make the writers add him into main storylines.

Wrestlemania 28 is this Sunday and will be up against programs like AMC’s “Mad Men,” but not much else. They will occupy most of the “trending topics” on Twitter and I’m hoping that they will not announce each one. If WWE hopes that this Wrestlemania, which features the highly-publicize match of The Rock vs. John Cena, they will limit the announcements. Twitter will not be the last social media platform to be popular on the internet. If WWE embraced Myspace during their programming back during Wrestlemania 22, it would be unwatchable. You would watch it and start laughing, because no one uses Myspace anymore. It would instantly make that Wrestlemania extremely dated. These matches have the chance to some of the best in recent memory. The Rock vs. John Cena, Triple H vs. The Undertaker, and CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho will all be under an unfortunate cloud of hopping on a current fad.

I hope someone from the WWE understands all of the points that I have made and throws themselves in front of the Twitter bus this weekend. We all know their Twitter handles by now and that WWE has a Twitter account. Let’s just focus on what people paid their money for, not for a “self-promoting, sports entertainment machine,” but the drama and pageantry of Wrestlemania.
