The College Football Playoff teams were chosen weeks ago, and it wasn’t without controversy.
Two of the four teams lost their last contest, and Ohio State didn’t even play in their conference championship game. There were a lot of people who thought other conference champions deserved to leapfrog the Buckeyes in the rankings.
Can Georgia and Michigan continue their perfect seasons and avoid the upset?
We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick every college football game against the spread during the College Football Playoff Semifinals of the 2022-23 NCAA Football season (December 31st, 2022).
TCU vs Michigan (-7.5) & O/U 58.5 – My pick is TCU Horned Frogs & UNDER
The TCU Horned Frogs are 12-1 outright and 9-3-1 against the spread this season. They are coming off a 31-28 overtime loss to Kansas State in the Big 12 Championship game. TCU QB Max Duggan had a great fourth quarter to tie the game, but their offense were stopped at the goal line. They’ve been an underdog for most of the year, but they couldn’t complete the perfect regular season.
The Michigan Wolverines are 13-0 outright and 8-4-1 against the spread. They are coming off an impressive 43-22 win over Purdue in the Big Ten Championship game. They really ended the season strong, but it cost them star RB Blake Corum. The Wolverines should still be okay, as they have future stud RB Donovan Edwards.
This game could come down to the final possession. The Horned Frogs are a few points underrated in this game. Yes, they are coming off a loss to Kansas State, but they are a very good team. I’m going to take the points and the under in this game.
Ohio State vs Georgia (-6.5) & O/U 62.5 – My pick is Georgia & UNDER
The Ohio State Buckeyes are 11-1 outright and 5-6-1 against the spread this season. They are coming off a 45-23 home loss to rival Michigan. The Buckeyes defense was suspect coming into the season, but start the year playing very well. They stumbled down the stretch and couldn’t extend leads to cover point spreads (1-4 ATS in last five games).
The Georgia Bulldogs are 13-0 outright and 7-6 against the spread. They are coming off a 50-30 win over LSU. It was a big win as LSU were a hot team going into the game. I was surprised by the amount of passing yards (502) LSU was able to put up against them. Georgia has studs on both sides of the ball and can extend leads early in games.
I don’t know many people who believe Ohio State can win this game. They looked horrible against Michigan and is arguably the weakest of the four teams in the CFP Semifinal games. Georgia is too stacked and should win this game by double-digits. I’m taking Georgia to cover and I’m going with the under again.
