2022 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 8

There are only two teams out on bye this week, but one of those teams is loaded with fantasy starters.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers are off this week. It’s a nice change of pace after last week’s stacked bye week slate.

You could still be in trouble if you have guys like TE Travis Kelce or QB Patrick Mahomes, but you should be in the market for a few less streaming players this week.

Can Daniel Jones continue his nice streak of solid fantasy numbers?

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills) – This is a bit of a gimme pick here, but Allen should have a banner game against the Green Bay Packers.
  • WR Wan’Dale Robinson (New York Giants) Robinson led the Giants in targets last week and I like his stock going forward this season. Darius Slayton is WR1 in New York, but Robinson is a close second.
  • TE Cade Otton (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Otton is getting more and more targets while TE Cameron Brate is out. Brady seems more comfortable with Otton than he ever was with Brate. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets more snaps once Brate is healthy enough to return.
  • RB Kenneth Walker III (Seattle Seahawks) – Walker is a stud running back in a surprisingly explosive Seattle offense. He is coming off a 168-yard, two touchdown performance.
  • QB Daniel Jones (New York Giants) – Jones biggest fantasy gift is his rushing yards. He will continue to find yards on the ground when the pass isn’t there. He should have success doing that against the Seahawks on Sunday.
  • Indianapolis Colts Defense & Special Teams – The Colts defense will face a lighter task this week when the Commanders arrive in town. They should get pressure on QB Taylor Heinicke and I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns the ball over a couple times.
  • RB James Robinson (New York Jets) – Robinson might be a better start in the coming weeks, but he is coming in with a chip on his shoulder. RB Michael Carter works best in a dual-back system. I like Carter’s skills, but Robinson should step into the hole that rookie RB Breece Hall left in the offense.
  • WR Zay Jones (Jacksonville Jaguars) – Jones tied for the team lead in targets with ten and is getting WR2 work ahead of veteran WR Marvin Jones. He may not be a red zone target, but a solid flex PPR option.
  • RB D’Onta Foreman (Carolina Panthers) – Foreman was a surprise fantasy stud last week. He was a nice change-of-pace back, with RB Chuba Hubbard also having a great output against the Bucs. Carolina will need a lot of production from their backfield if they hope to win games with QB P.J. Walker under center.
  • TE Greg Dulcich (Denver Broncos) – Dulcich is coming off a nine-target game against the Jets. If you have TE Travis Kelce out on bye, Dulcich could be a good option for a one week streaming option.
  • WR George Pickens (Pittsburgh Steelers) – I’ve had Pickens in this section since QB Kenny Pickett took over. He is looking for the rookie receiver more than former starting QB Mitchell Trubisky, and he’s having success. He’s a great red zone target and will be eating into the target-share going forward.
  • RB Gus Edwards (Baltimore Ravens) – When Edwards is healthy, he will always be a red zone threat. He may not wow you with his YPC numbers, but he is the goal line back in Baltimore.
  • New York Jets Defense & Special Teams – I really like the Jets the pass defense right now. The young secondary are making plays and keeping the Jets in games. They face the Patriots this week, who are having quarterback woes at the moment.
  • QB Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals) – Burrow faces the Browns on Monday Night Football this week. He is coming off one of his best games of the season and is spreading the ball well. I love his wide receiving corps and all the recent draft picks used on them is paying off.

SIT’EM

  • RB Tyler Allgeier (Atlanta Falcons) – If you MUST chose between Tyler Allgeier and Caleb Huntley, Allgeier is the back you want…but I’d stay away from both. He isn’t doing much with the touches he’s getting and I’d rather take a chance with RB James Robinson or Ravens Gus Edwards this week.
  • QB Marcus Mariota (Atlanta Falcons)  – The Falcons offense is broken without RB Cordarrelle Patterson. Mariota isn’t extending drives and he faces the Panthers this week, whose secondary is fill with young ballhawks.
  • WR Devin Duvernay (Baltimore Ravens) – Duvernay started off the year with a lot of targets, but WR Rashod Bateman is now getting more targets in the offense. I’d rather pull the trigger on a wide receiver on a better passing offense, like Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins or Seattle’s Marquise Goodwin.
  • RB Aaron Jones (Green Bay Packers) – The Packers running game isn’t working well at the moment and they have a bad match-up this week (Buffalo). His fantasy stock is tied to the short passing game, and the Bills have done well against that this season.
  • QB Justin Fields (Chicago Bears)Fields had a solid fantasy game against New England. I don’t expect him to be a consistent fantasy performer going forward. The Bears were able to run the ball well and they got out to a great start with a 10-0 lead. I expect the Dallas Cowboys will have more success reeling him in.
  • WR Michael Gallup (Dallas Cowboys) – Gallup is coming off a two target, zero catch outing against the Lions. He is WR3 in Dallas and it looks like they are easing QB Dak Prescott back in the offense. We will see a lot of the backfield this week against the Bears.
  • TE Taysom Hill (New Orleans Saints) – Last week, Hill caught his only target for three yards. It was a touchdown, so fantasy owners lucked out, but that’s what you should expect going forward. He is a touchdown-or-bust candidate at tight end.
  • Cleveland Browns Defense & Special Teams – The Browns have a bad match-up on Monday Night Football when the Bengals come to town. I’d rather start the Jets or Colts this week.
  • TE Tyler Conklin (New York Jets) – Conklin isn’t getting the volume of targets with QB Zach Wilson back. He is only startable in deep leagues.
  • Arizona Cardinals Defense & Special Teams – They travel to Minnesota this week, who are coming off their bye week. Their passing game should have success against Arizona, which is why they are a sit this week.
  • WR Jakobi Meyers (New England Patriots) – The Patriots travel to the Jets this week, and as I said above, I love the Jets secondary. Rookie CB Sauce Gardner should have Meyers locked up.
