Super Bowl 55 is this Sunday and it’s a prop bets smorgasbord.
I LOVE prop bets. I actually get more joy out of betting Super Bowl prop bets than betting against the spread. Yes, most are a crap shoot, but with the right research, you can end up winning bets with very favorable odds.
I’m not saying you can research who will win the coin toss, but there are many other player and team prop bets out there that have nice odds.
Some prop bets aren’t worth the money (the juice isn’t worth the slight risk), but sometimes you just have to lay a few bucks down, cross your fingers and wish for the best.
I picked out some of the most popular prop bets for Super Bowl 55 (or Super Bowl LV for Roman numeral fans)…and we also pick the game against the spread.
Let me know if you’re betting any of these props. Good luck!
Will The Game Be Tied Again After 0-0?
– Yes (-130)
– No (+105)
I think this one is a bit of a layup, but could easily go wrong if one of these teams come out hot, which doesn’t often happen in a Super Bowl. The first quarter is usually more of a feeling out process and no team wants to mess up like the Broncos did against the Seahawks a few years ago. I’m going to go with YES on this bet.
Prediction: YES

What Color Gatorade Will be Dumped on the Winning Head Coach?
Orange (+120)
Red/Pink (+300)
Yellow/Lime/Green (+400)
Clear (+500)
Blue (+800)
Purple (+800)
I’m going to with the favorite here. It’s usually orange and it’s rare that it is any other color. I also find it odd that Purple makes its debut on the props. Who wants to drink purple Gatorade?
Prediction: Orange

Coin Toss?
– Heads (-102)
– Tails (-102)
I usually rotate every year and I picked heads last year, so I’ll take heads this year.
Prediction: HEADS

Longest Reception?
Tyreek Hill (+150)
Mike Evans (+450)
Chris Godwin (+450)
Travis Kelce (+550)
Mecole Hardman (+700)
Antonio Brown (+1200)
Scotty Miller (+1200)
Sammy Watkins (+1300)
Rob Gronkowski (+2000)
Leonard Fournette (+2500)
Clyde Edwards-Helaire (+2500)
Tyler Johnson (+3300)
I’m going for the home run here. I saw that Brady trusts Johnson and he doesn’t hesitate to go to him in big situations. It could easily be Johnson who has the longest reception in this game. If I were to pick a player on the Chiefs, Hill would be the obvious choice, but has very little juice for a prop bet.
Prediction: Tyler Johnson

Super Bowl LV MVP Odds
Patrick Mahomes (-106)
Tom Brady (+210)
Tyreek Hill (+1200)
Travis Kelce (+1300)
Leonard Fournette (+2500)
Clyde Edwards-Helaire (+2800)
Mike Evans (+3000)
Chris Godwin (+3000)
Devin White (+4000)
Tyrann Mathieu (+4000)
Darrel Williams (+4000)
Shaquil Barrett (+5000)
Ronald Jones II (+5000)
Mecole Hardman (+5000)
Antonio Brown (+6000)
Rob Gronkowski (+7000)
Sammy Watkins (+8000)
Scotty Miller (+10000)
Le’Veon Bell (+10000)
Tyler Johnson (+15000)
I’m going to pick two options here, a ‘likely’ choice and a ‘sleeper’ choice. The likely choice is Tom Brady. There isn’t enough juice on the Mahomes pick for me to lay any money on it. Brady may not even need to have a good game to win the MVP. He will be the de facto MVP choice if no real standout choice is there if the Bucs win.
The sleeper pick is either a Bucs receivers or a Chiefs defensive player. Tyler Johnson is intriguing, but he would need a HUGE game for the voters not give the MVP award to Brady. The other sleeper-ish pick is Tyrann Mathieu. If he can frustrate Brady and force a couple turnovers, this will standout. The game would need to be a low-scoring affair or Mathieu would need to score points himself on defense, but the 40 to 1 odds is tempting.
Prediction: Tom Brady (likely) – Tyrann Mathieu (sleeper)

Total Points – Over/Under
– OVER 56 (-110)
– UNDER 56 (-110)
I think this game will likely be a high-scoring affair. We have two elite quarterbacks and they should both find a way to score points in this game. I actually thought the point total would be much closer to 60, so I’ll take the over on 56 points all day.
Prediction: OVER

Point Spread
– Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5)
– Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3.5)
I predict that this game will be a close one. I wouldn’t suggest taking the Bucs moneyline, but a point spread win by the Bucs is likely in my eyes. The Chiefs defense can force turnovers, but they do take risks (same goes for the Bucs). There will be man coverage and soft pockets between the corner and safety help all over this game. This will be a fun one to watch and I have to take the points.
Prediction: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3.5)
