I went 5-2-1 against the spread and with my over/under picks last week.
All four games this weekend should be fun to watch, something that has become uncommon the last few years with injuries severely depleting playoff teams. The only backup quarterback playing this week is Eagles QB Nick Foles, who led them to a Super Bowl win last year.
Should the Patriots be an underdog at home against the Chargers?
Can the Colts knockout the Chiefs from the playoffs again?
We pick every NFL Divisional Round Playoff games against the spread.
Since there are only four games this weekend, as a bonus I will also pick the over/under for each game.
Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5) – over/under (57) – My pick is Indianapolis Colts and UNDER
Back during the Peyton Manning days, it was a yearly routine to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. They even did it once with Andrew Luck back in 2014. This Chiefs team is different from many of the past Kansas City teams, they can score in a hurry. The Chiefs haven’t had an offense this prolific since Marty Schottenheimer walked the sideline at Arrowhead. The Colts is an interesting team and a possible underdog pick due to their defense. The Chiefs offense hasn’t been as great since losing RB Kareem Hunt. They’ve only covered one game since releasing him. I’m a Colts fan and I’m usually pessimistic about their odds. They’ve been playing so well that they have a shot of winning this game outright, but I will play it safe with the points. As far as the over/under goes, 57 is pretty darn high. The Colts have had an over/under that high since October, but the Chiefs games have eclipsed that total most weeks. I’m going to take the UNDER, but it will be close.
Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams (-7) – over/under (49.5) – My pick is Dallas Cowboys and UNDER
This is another interesting game. The Cowboys have been one of the best teams in the NFL in the second-half of the year (which makes their 23-0 defeat to the Colts so surprising). They have only lost to the Colts since early November. They are a much better team with an aerial threat like WR Amari Cooper. The Rams haven’t been very good against the spread, but ended the season winning three of their last four against the spread. Rams DT Aaron Donald was arguably the best defensive player in the league, but the rest of their defense has fell asleep at times. They could use another pass rusher, but they will have to make do with what they have. This game should be rather close and I don’t see them totaling 50 points in this contest, so I’m taking the points.
Los Angeles Chargers at New England Patriots (-4) – over/under (47) – My pick is Los Angeles Chargers and OVER
The Chargers are the better team, but due to them being in the Chiefs division, they are forced to travel to New England. The Chargers were very good in the first-half of the season, but they have been damn impressive since DE Joey Bosa returned from injury. The Chargers are a young team and the Patriots will try to exploit their lack of experience. I don’t see New England covering the spread. The Chargers offense should be able to move the ball on the weak Patriots pass defense (especially in the middle of the field). I’m taking the point and the slight over.
Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints (-8) – over/under (50.5) – My pick is New Orleans Saints and UNDER
The Eagles surprising run 2.0 will come to an end on Sunday. The Saints destroyed them in November and Philly has lost a few players to injury since that game. I don’t see the Eagles putting too many points on the board. Big D**k Nick Foles will come up short. I’m taking the Saints to cover and the under.
