Early Heisman Trophy Betting Favorites

It’s only June, but it’s never too early to start thinking about your college football betting strategy.

The betting odds for the 2018-19 Heisman Trophy were released today. This list is full of many new names, but one of this year’s favorites isn’t new to preseason Heisman buzz. Last year’s Heisman runner-up Stanford RB Bryce Love is near the top of this year’s early Heisman favorites.

Is is a lock for Love will win the Heisman this season? Early Heisman favorites haven’t been so lucky in recent years. Oregon QB Marcus Mariota is the only early top favorite in the last decade that went on to win the Heisman. Last year’s winner Oklahoma Baker Mayfield had the second-best odds of winning it going into last season, behind USC QB Sam Darnold.

Who are this year’s early Heisman favorites? Do any standout as a nice value bet?

2018 NFL Draft: Best Undrafted Players

256 players were drafted in the 2018 NFL Draft over a three-day period. Some of those players will never play one down in a regular season NFL game. On the other side of the coin, many college players that went undrafted could end up having long careers in the NFL.

Kurt Warner went undrafted in the 1994 NFL Draft. He was a training camp invitee with the Green Bay Packers. He was released before the season and then found himself in the Arena Football League. He was successful there and then signed by the St. Louis Rams. Starting QB Trent Green suffered an ACL injury in the preseason and Warner was named the starter. He went on the win the Super Bowl that season. Warner is now a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Other recent undrafted players that had success in the NFL: RB Thomas Rawls, LB Zach Orr, WR Willie Snead, CB Malcolm Butler, RB Corey Clement, WR Robbie Anderson and many others.

2017 NCAA Football – Week 14 Betting Picks Against Spread

I bounced back last week after a disastrous Week 12 and hit on some big games and a couple upset moneylines.

I went ahead and picked every single games this weekend. Conference Championship games are on the schedule as well as some smaller school games.

Many of the conference championship games are rematches from games that happened early in the season. That is not always the case, so we have some data to study. Study with caution since a lot has changed since the previous game and it’s also pretty hard to beat a team twice-in-a-row.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick every college football games against the spread in Week 14 of the NCAA Football season (December 2nd, 2017). We also pick some smaller conference games.

2017 NCAA Football – Week 12 Betting Picks Against Spread

I finished 19-10-1 last week. My strategy of staying away from Pac 12 games paid off. I did end up picking one…and lost. I don’t know what it is about that conference, but I have little confidence in my handicapping ability in the Pac 12 this season. I’ve done very well with the conference in the past, but I (sort of) know when to throw in the towel. I STILL ended up picking a Pac 12 game again this week…I just couldn’t help myself.

Last week’s experiment of picking 30 games worked in my favor. I picked an additional five games this week as well. It made my attempt at avoiding the Pac 12 rather difficult.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick 30 college football games against the spread in Week 12 of the NCAA Football season (November 18th, 2017). We also pick some smaller conference games.

2017 College Football: All-Name Team

What makes a great college football name?

A good litmus test is if it works as a potential pro wrestling name, it works in college football. It also works if a name sounds like a verb, phrase, a certain body part or just a bad ass football name that makes them sound tough.

We went through every team in the top two divisions in the NCAA. We went through ever single name and picked out the ones that were funny and some names we just wish we had.

My name is Bobby Roberts, so of all the people who can write a post poking fun at names, it’s me. I’m always asked if my real name is Robert Roberts (it’s not) or if my name is fake (it’s not).

Here is the 2017-18 college football All-Name team.

2016 NCAA Football – Week 12 Betting Picks Against Spread

lsu-football-cheerleaders-2016-week-12-college-football-picks-against-the-spread-americas-white-boy-gambling-ncaaPicking 25 games every week has its benefits, but it has lead to a few too many weeks where I’m hovering .500. I don’t think I’m going back to picking 20 games, so don’t worry.

I went 12-13 in a difficult week with many top teams falling. I guess I should feel good hitting around .500 this week since I know some people who wiped out this week.

The College Football Playoff is currently a mess. There are a few too many scenarios in which teams that may not make their own conference championship games, could end up in the playoffs.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (November 19th, 2016) and a few Thursday games. We also pick five extra games as a bonus.

2016 NCAA Football – Week 5 Betting Picks Against Spread

clemson-cheerleader-americas-white-boy-college-football-ncaa-betting-picks-against-the-spread-2016I thought I went 16-9 for the week once again, but I added everything up again and I missed a game by a half-point, so a 15-10 record still isn’t too shabby.

We are at the point where every team is in their conference schedule, which is great. There’s a lot more information and history between teams. It also makes the betting lines more tight since Vegas has the same information as the bettor.

There’s a huge game between Louisville and Clemson this weekend. It may impact the championship race, since both teams are in the ACC. The conference is great, but I doubt they will get two teams in the playoffs.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (October 1st, 2016) and a few Thursday games. We also pick five extra games as a bonus.

2016 NCAA Football – Week 4 Betting Picks Against Spread

arizona-state-cheerleaders-2016-week-4-ncaa-football-picks-against-the-spread-college-americas-white-boy-betting-sun-devilsI had my first solid week of the year after going 16-9 last week. I felt like I had a solid grasp on the outcomes and would have had a better week if not for a couple fluke covers…but there’s nothing you can do about those.

I’m glad that there aren’t as many 30+ point spreads this week. Teams are starting to get into the meat of their schedules and conference games will be in full force by next week. I hate having to bet on huge spreads, since it just adds a lot more to factor in when picking games.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (September 24th, 2016) and a few Thursday games. We also pick five extra games as a bonus.

2016 NCAA Football – Week 3 Betting Picks Against Spread

alabama-crimson-tide-college-football-point-spread-picks-against-the-spread-week-3-americas-white-boy-cheerleaderI had a very average week and finished 13-12. I don’t feel too bad about it, but wished the outcome was better. I made educated picks and if two or three of them went the other way, I’d feel pretty darn great.

Week 2 was full of large point spreads and honestly it was about 50/50 on the favorites covering in those games. I don’t think it will mess with point spreads too much going forward, but maybe Georgia should get knocked a few points for keeping the Nicholls State game close.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (September 17th, 2016) and a few Thursday games. We also picked five extra games as a bonus.

2015 NCAA Football – Week 14 Betting Picks Against Spread

derrick henry alabama crimson tide sec championship game ncaa college football picks against the spread 2015 america's white boyThis week isn’t as stocked with games, since all the marquee games are conference championship games. We ended up picking every single college football game against the spread.

I went 10-9-1 against the spread last week. Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Iowa still sit on top of the College Football Playoff rankings. Michigan State will play in the CFP with a win over Iowa on Saturday. Also, Ohio State and Stanford could sneak in if Florida and/or North Carolina throw a wrench into machine.

The Heisman trophy front-runner Alabama RB Derrick Henry could lock up the trophy with another strong performance.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (December 5th, 2015), and pick some games earlier in the week. Enjoy!

2015 NCAA Football – Week 13 Betting Picks Against Spread

michigan state kicker ohio state america's white boy college football picks against the spread 2015One day, I hope to be as happy as Michigan State’s kicker was last week. He went complete ‘Oprah audience member winning a free car’ crazy.

I went 11-9 against the spread last week. Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Iowa are now sitting on top of the College Football Playoff rankings this week. Michigan State and Notre Dame are currently the first two teams left out of the playoff.

I wanted to pick Baylor/TCU and Penn State/Michigan State games, but as of this writing, those lines are currently off the board. I wanted to get this week’s lines out as early as possible due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

We at ‘America’s White Boy’ pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday (November 28th, 2015), and pick some games earlier in the week. Enjoy!

indiana hoosiers michigan wolverines november 2015 college football picks against the spread america's white boy ncaaLast week’s game were a lot of fun to watch. There were a load of tight games, but the Indiana/Michigan topped them all. I love any game in which Jim Harbaugh freaks out on the sideline. I watched the entire game and it was exactly the type of game I expected…completely bonkers.

I went 13-7 last week against the spread. Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame are still sitting at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings this week. Iowa and Oklahoma State need huge games to crack that group.
