The rules are simple, the game can easily be set up, and it’s a lot of fun with your friends.

Indoor Sports to Explore With Your Friends

It might be summer now, but that’s no excuse not to try some indoor sports. Depending on where you live, indoor sports could actually be more beneficial to you than just outdoor sports. For instance, if it rains regularly where you are then it could create nasty conditions to play in, and the fields might be full of people sunbathing and relaxing, so the last thing you want to do is hit someone with a ball or accidentally injure a bystander. Indoor sports offer a safer and controlled environment, and there’s almost no chance that someone will kick a ball or throw something so far that it gets lost.

But indoor sports alone isn’t as fun as with friends, so here are a couple of ideas that you can get involved in together with a group of friends.

Spectator to Participant: How to Make this Sporting Transition

female-2025511_960_720Are you tired of being lazy, sitting on your sofa watching sports? Well, maybe it’s time you stopped being a passive spectator and became an active participant. Making that transition is not even as hard as you might imagine it to be. Anyone can do it once they put their mind to it and take the right steps. But what are those steps? Read on to find out.

Don’t Take the Know it All Attitude

This is one mistake that people often make when they are picking up a sport for the first time. Just because you have watched lots of other people play sport on TV, that doesn’t mean you really understand anything about playing the sport yourself. Those are two entirely separate things, and you need to remember that. If you adopt a know it all kind of attitude, you will just end up looking stupid and alienating those around you.

Can Sports Lead You To Easy Money?

the-ball-stadion-football-the-pitch-47354We could all use a little more money. And there’s no-one in the world who doesn’t think about using their passion to make money. The truth is that most people aren’t willing to try. So, whether it’s a way of making a few bucks here and there or finding a real career, let’s look at how to make it a reality. Here’s how your love of the game (whatever game that may be) can put some dough in the bank.

Share that passion

Are you informed? Are you opinionated? Are you the person that always seems to have the facts and figures to support what you say that leaves your friends without a comeback? Then you might just be the kind of person who could make it talking about sports online. Whether you’re running a blog or speaking through Youtube or podcasts, there’s always room for up-and-coming mouthpieces who know how to win and audience and drop some knowledge. It’s a competitive field, but it’s also one with plenty of opportunities for monetization. For instance, you can use affiliates programs or sponsors related to the subjects you’re covering, like betting sites or sports memorabilia businesses. You could also go into writing books or even branching into journalism from covering sports for your own brand.

Why America Should Embrace Soccer

America flag soccerUnless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you’ve had at least one small brush with soccer. Soccer, or football as the rest of the world calls it, is the most popular sport on earth. Despite this, it’s something that Americans have never really embraced en-masse. While you might love basketball or our own brand of football like you could love no other sport, I think soccer is greatly misunderstood by a lot of Americans. Here are a few reasons to give it another chance…

It’s Gaining Traction

The NFL certainly isn’t in any danger of being knocked off of its pedestal in America. However, there’s no denying that soccer is steadily gaining its fandom and momentum. MLS, the US’s official professional soccer league, has a small but very passionate following, the US men’s national team boasts its own ardent fanbase, and CONCACAF Gold Cup tickets from Ticket Liquidator and other sellers are more popular than they’ve ever been. The ratings for 2014’s World Cup were also much higher in America than they’ve been in previous years. I’m not suggesting you should blindly jump on every bandwagon that comes along. However, if you think that soccer is still a tiny niche among Americans, you’re greatly mistaken!

Playing Sports at Home Isn’t as Lame as You Think

pexels-photo-29011When people think of sports, they usually think of going out into the great outdoors and having fun with their friends in a giant field. For instance, football is a fantastic physical sport but you’re going to need a lot of people to play with you and a huge field with goal posts and everything. Tennis is great too, but you won’t be able to play without a net. Golf is another excellent sport, but you won’t be able to play it unless you make regular trips to a course and have expensive gear. This is why we usually make sports a group outing so that we can go to a field or a park to play. However, what about playing sports at home? Is it as lame or boring as people make it out to be?

The league started in 1996 with mixed results, but it has gained steam in North America with each consecutive World Cup. The league now sits at 20 teams with teams in Atlanta, Minnesota and Los Angeles joining over the next three seasons.

Speaking of new teams in the MLS, Orlando City SC are currently playing their inaugural season in the league. They are only 13 games into their first year, but they seem to have ignited a rivalry with the Columbus Crew, one of the handful of original MLS teams left.

Several FIFA Executives Arrested in Switzerland

2022 FIFA World Cup Poster Arrested SwitzerlandIt appears that the United States government is going after many expected to have received bribes during the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bidding process. The U.S. asked Swiss police to arrest a number of FIFA executives while they were in Zurich to vote on the next FIFA president.

Switzerland has an extradition pact with the United States when it involves non-tax-related crimes.

The current FIFA president Sepp Blatter wasn’t one of the executives arrested in Zurich…and he isn’t expected to visit the United States any time soon.

Which FIFA executives have been named as those allegedly arrested or detained? We give you a list of those we’ve heard so far.

Sports Crush: Sydney Leroux

We’ve written a handful of ‘Sports Crush’ posts since we launched Americas White Boy a few years ago. We’ve spotlighted sportscasters, female MMA fighters, WWE Divas, and my favorite U.S. Women’s soccer player, Alex Morgan. We decided to profile another player on the team, the lovely Sydney Leroux.

Leroux currently plays for the Seattle Reign in the National Women’s Soccer League and is a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team. She will be playing in the 2015 World Cup in Canada.

Hope Solo and Alex Morgan gets most of the love, but that will change during the World Cup. Leroux is a stunner who, in the past, was romantically-linked to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (I hope that rumor isn’t true).

We are crushing on Sydney Leroux and once you look at our photo gallery, you will understand why.

Sports Crush (Olympics Edition): Alex Morgan

alex+morgan+body+paint+soccer
The 2012 London Olympics was a treasure trove of attractive people. Who would have thought that active people could be so beautiful? (I’m being extremely snarky)

Team USA’s women’s soccer team was dominant and took home the gold medal. They all buy choked in the World Cup, but they redeemed themselves  by defeating Japan in the final. Carli Lloyd, Hope Solo and our current Sports Crush, Alex Morgan, helped lead the team.

Solo was the darling of the World Cup and since Morgan is one of the  of the London games, she will get fifteen minutes of fame. She may not follow Solo by joining the cast of “Dancing with the Stars”, but it would increase the viewership in the 18-49 male demographic. Morgan was rumored to be romantically linked to Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez earlier this year, but now she is rumored to be dating soccer player Servando Carrasco.

Here is a photo gallery of our current Sports Crush, soccer player Alex Morgan. Continue reading
