2013-14 College Football: Bowl Projections [UPDATED]

BCS Coaches Trophy 2013 NCAA College FootballWell, yesterday’s games really put a wrench all bowl projections written last week. Baylor, Oregon and Texas A&M’s losses rearranged a half dozen bowl games and moved Arizona State, Oklahoma State and Missouri up a few spots.

There are 35 bowl games this year, so 70 spots are up for grabs. Not every team that wins six games will play in a bowl game. As of today, 66 teams are already eligible, with most teams still one regular season game left.

We project the teams that will play in all 35 bowl games this year as of November 24th, 2013. Many bowl games are shaping up to be fun to watch…but a few bowls are looking bad, really bad.

We can’t wait to pick these games against the spread…that will come much later.

2013 NCAA Football – Week 13 Betting Picks Against Spread

528557c1e0fa4I apologize for being a little late with this week’s picks. I’ve stayed up late watching college basketball all week (Jabari Parker is amazing). I went 13-7 with my picks against the spread last week. I am now 111-65-7 on the season.

I like a lot of road teams in Week 13 of the 2013 college football season (November 23rd to be exact). I hate picking road teams this late in the season, but that’s how things shake out this week. There are a few games that seem to factor in last week’s loss or win way too much. You need to look at the last few games to really get a feel for a team.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday, plus a few games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference as always…and a Thursday night game. Enjoy!

2013-14 College Football: Bowl Projections

PrintWe are in the homestretch of the college football regular season. Some teams are still in the hunt for a national championship, but most are just playing to get in a prime bowl game…or trying to earn a sixth win to just be bowl-eligible.

There are 35 bowl games this year, so 70 spots are up for grabs. Not every team that wins six games will play in a bowl game. As of today, 65 teams are already eligible, with most teams still having two games left.

2013 NCAA Football – Week 12 Betting Picks Against Spread

Hot-Baylor-Cheerleaders-FootballI had my best week of the season. I went 16-4 with my picks against the spread. Stanford, Vanderbilt and Kansas State really came through for me. Those three moneyline plays are my best calls of the year. I am now 98-58-7 on the season.

I like a lot of road underdogs in Week 12 of the 2013 college football season (November 16th to be exact). The home favorites are overvalued this week. You get that at this point in the season. Bettors have a habit of sticking with teams they’ve had success with all year. Vegas knows this, so those teams will have a point spread with little value in their favor.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday, plus a few games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference as always…we also sneak in Wednesday and Thursday night games . Enjoy!

2013 NCAA Football – Week 8 Betting Picks Against Spread

Jameis Winston Florida State Clemson TigersMy streak of winners is still intact.

I went 11-7-1 last week with my picks, bringing my season total to 50-28-45 on the season. I didn’t match the previous week’s domination, but 11-7-1 is solid.

Week 8 of the 2013 college football season (October 19th to be exact) has possibly the biggest marquee game all season, Florida State at Clemson.

We’re at a point in the season where favorites often fall or fail to cover the spread. When making a bet, look to see if any teams had a common opponent earlier in the season. That could help you with your decision. Injury reports and weather conditions also grow more and more important deeper in the college football season.

We pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday…we also sneak in a few Thursday night games in the MAC and American Athletic Conference. Enjoy!

2013 NCAA Football – Week 6 Betting Picks Against Spread

Texas Tech Guns Up MascotThe fifth week of the college football season was very kind to me. I went 11-4 with my picks against the spread. I improved my overall record to 27-16-4 on the season.

Week six of the college football season (October 5th to be exact) is filled with a lot of fun games to watch. All the teams are in their conference schedule, with a few exceptions. We will start to see which teams are contenders and which teams clearly benefited from a weak non-conference schedule.

There are some huge Big Ten and Big 12 games on Saturday. You will know a lot more about Northwestern and Texas Tech after 10/5/13.

We answer those questions and pick against the spread for all the big college football games on Saturday…we also sneak in a few smaller games in the MAC and Mountain West conferences.

2013 NCAA Football – Week 5 Betting Picks Against Spread

Braxton Miller Kenny Guiton Ohio State BuckeyesWow, I actually have my college football betting line post completed before Friday? I deserve a Pumpkin Spice Latté, or ‘PSL’ as it’s known in the suburbs and cul-de-sacs (I roll hard).

After last week’s college football snooze fest, we have a lot of good games on Saturday. After Saturday, the college football landscape will be less muddy. The good teams will be known and the pretenders will have money left on their night stand.

Will Wisconsin ruin Ohio State’s national championship aspirations? Can Notre Dame hold off Oklahoma? Which SEC powerhouse will win the LSU/Georgia game?

We answer those questions and pick all the big college football games on Saturday…we also sneak in a few smaller games in the MAC and Mountain West conferences. Continue reading

2013 NCAA Football – Week 4 Betting Picks Against Spread

Manziel-Money-Sign-Touchdown-CelebrationI apologize for being a little late with this week’s college football picks against the spread, I’ve been immersed with winning my fantasy baseball leagues and giving out fantasy football advice to friends and readers.

I’ve had a decent year so far picking college football games, but I’m looking to have a big week on September 21st in Week 4 of the NCAA football season.

Can Johnny Manziel forget last week’s loss against Alabama? Will Notre Dame and Florida ramp up their play after poor performances early this season?

We answer those questions and help you decide who you want to bet on this week (we mention a possible addition in a parlay). Continue reading

March Madness: All-White Boy Team

Marshall+Henderson+White+BoyWe love the NCAA Tournament. We actually launched our site five years ago, right after Kentucky lost in the first round.

The name “America’s White Boy” comes from a term I coined for the white basketball players CBS focuses on during the tournament.

I don’t believe this yearly ritual is intentionally racist. Think of the movies “Hoosiers” or “Rudy”. These players aren’t the most athletic guys and CBS uses them to tell the story of the underdog.

The “Cinderella” aspect of the NCAA Tournament is what brings in the casual sports fan.

Here is our list of the best white basketball players in this year’s tournament. I’m sure CBS will use this as a cheat sheet for their coverage.  Continue reading

March Madness: West Region Picks

AaronCraftOhioStateJerseyThe West region is top heavy.

#1 Gonzaga and #2 Ohio State are coming into the tournament as two of the hottest teams in the country. The rest of the bracket is filled with question marks. Do we really know if Steve Alford’s New Mexico team is good? They excelled in a tough Mountain West conference, but they are the biggest mystery in the West region.

We pick the winners from probable matchups after the (second) first-round of the tournament.

Who do you have representing the West in the Final Four? We help you fill out your bracket. Continue reading

2013 March Madness: #2 Ohio State vs #15 Iona

Aaron+Craft+Ohio+State+shirtlessThe #2 Ohio State (26-7) vs. #15 Iona (20-13) game will be a battle of two different offensive styles.

Big Ten basketball is known for a “first team to 50, wins the game” style of basketball. Iona has an offensive philosophy of “we’re trying to score 100 points, as fast as possible.”

Which team will dictate the pace of the game?

“America’s White Boy” favorite Aaron Craft could be this year’s tournament darling. (see: Adam Morrison, Stephen Curry)

Who do you think will win? We help you fill out your bracket. Continue reading

‘National Signing Day’ – All-Name Team

‘National Signing Day’ has come and gone. Now that the young men have picked their hat out of a line reminiscent of the shell game on “The Price Is Right”, we have a better idea of which colleges won the recruiting battle. You may not know who these young men are right now, but in a few years, some of these men will be in line to win the Heisman Trophy and/or a National Championship. Until then, we only have the names of these future college football stars to go by.

Here is a list of some of the best names of the incoming 2013 college football class…and a few players who already have famous names. Here’s a hint, one of their fathers had an exciting Sunday. Continue reading
