America’s White Boy’s 2018 MLB Un-All-Star Team

The 2018 MLB All-Star Game is about a week away and it has become a yearly tradition that we look at all the former MLB All-Stars that are having bad years.

The season is a little more than half over and it’s not too late for some of these players to bounce back and turn their seasons around. You can look at our Un-All-Star team article last year, a few bounced back and finished strong.

I’m a very active fantasy baseball owner, it didn’t take me long to make this list. I always keep an eye on fantasy busts and many on this list were selected in fantasy baseball drafts in March.

The old benchmark for an All-Star was thrown out with the bathwater when Bud Selig decided each team must have at least one representative in the All-Star Game.

Here is the America’s White Boy‘s 2018 MLB Un-All-Star team.

Sweetbob’s Fantasy Baseball F/M/K – April 19th

SweetbobFMK1We are a little over two weeks into the 2017 baseball season. You are probably still trying to figure out your roster. Should I cut bait with an injured player or let him take up a DL spot? Should I pick up someone like prospect Cody Bellinger and hope the Dodgers call him up?

We look at some players who started out hot, some who are struggling and maybe some guys who should be targeted in your free agent pool.

Before I begin, let’s go over the F/M/K terminology. The guys that I list under “F*ck” are guys that are currently hot and you need to pick them up. “Marry”, are guys that you need to stick with the whole season, even if they are struggling a bit. “Kill”, are guys that need to be dropped for better players in the free agent pool.

Sweetbob’s Fantasy Baseball F/M/K – April 12th

SweetbobFMK1We are a little over a week into the 2017 baseball season. If you’re playing fantasy baseball, you’re still trying to figure out your roster. Should I cut bait with Byron Buxton? Should I pick up someone who started out red hot?

We look at some players who started out hot, some who are struggling and maybe some guys who should be targeted in your free agent pool.

2016 MLB Season Preview: Colorado Rockies

Gerardo-Parra-Colorado-Rockies-2016-MLB-season-preview-americas-white-boyIt feels like the Rockies have been in rebuilding mode for a decade. It’s been shorter than a decade, but it has felt slow. It appeared like the rebuild was about to take a leap forward when they traded Troy Tulowitzki to the Blue Jays late last year…but the Rockies didn’t make much noise this offseason.

Carlos Gonzalez is still in Colorado. I’m not quite sure why, but he’s still there. He played in 153 games last season and knocked 40 homers. Teams will clearly unload some prospects for a guy like that, right? I’m not sure why they have waited this long.

Can Colorado’s make-shift bullpen last the entire season?

Here is the 2016 MLB season preview for the Colorado Rockies.

2015 MLB Team Preview: Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays 2015 MLB team preview kawasaki shirtless funny weirdThe Toronto Blue Jays were a popular pick to make a big leap in 2013, but they ended up finishing in last place in the AL East that season. Expectations leveled out last year and they finished a few games over .500. After acquiring Josh Donaldson in a trade and signing Russell Martin, Toronto is expected to once again contend in the AL East again. Can they pull it off or will they fall flat on their faces again?

Injuries plagued Toronto’s potential resurgent season in 2013 and they were already dealt a huge blow when they learned their young pitching phenom Marcus Stroman tore his ACL. He will miss the entire season. Which one of Toronto’s many young pitching prospects will take his spot in the starting rotation?

Here is the 2015 MLB season preview for the Toronto Blue Jays.

2014 MLB Team Preview: Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays were the popular pick to make a big leap in 2013. Well, we got the right division for the surprise team (Boston), but Toronto found themselves in the basement of the AL East.

The additions of Jose Reyes, R.A. Dickey and Josh Johnson didn’t pay off at all. Reyes broke his ankle and was out until almost the All-Star Break, Johnson looked like a Four-A pitcher and then Jose Bautista suffered an injury that ended his season early. Can Toronto be a playoff team if both stay healthy all season?

Can R.A. Dickey regain control of his knuckleball?

Here is the 2014 MLB season preview for the Toronto Blue Jays.

2014 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 40 Shortstops

Derek Jeter Elmo New York Yankees MLB Fantasy Baseball Shortstops Rankings 2014It was once hard to find power at the shortstop position, but now there are a dozen options who could hit 20+ homers this season. You have all the usual suspects (Hanley Ramirez & Troy Tulowitzki) and a few emerging stars (Andrelton Simmons & Jean Segura).

This will be Derek Jeter’s farewell season. Does he go out with a relevant fantasy season?

My shortstop fantasy baseball rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

1. Hanley Ramirez – Los Angeles DodgersBefore the injury bug hit Ramirez, he was once the #1 overall fantasy player. He has missed an average of 50 games each of the last three seasons. He only appeared in 86 games, but he hit .345 and smacked 20 homers. If he can stay healthy, I expect some big numbers from Ramirez.

2. Troy Tulowitzki – Colorado Rockies – Tulo had a few injuries that kept him from playing, but they were random injuries. His injuries weren’t any associated with someone breaking down. He came back from core muscle surgery last season and put up decent numbers in only 446 at-bats. If he gets near 550 at-bats, he should have another 30/100/.305 season. That is worth #1 or #2 on this list.

2013 MLB Team Preview: Miami Marlins

Jeffrey+Loria+Miami+Marlins+SucksAfter running Joe Girardi out of town and trading five of his best players last season, team owner Jeffrey Loria is one of the most hated men in Miami.

The Marlins spent big money last season to open its new state-of-the-art stadium. The entire NL East got better and the Marlins didn’t produce. He decided to blow up the team and trade Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, and others in another salary dump by the Marlins.

Will Miami fail to reach one million in attendance this season?

Here is the 2013 MLB season preview for the Miami Marlins. Continue reading

2013 World Baseball Classic: Notable Players

World+Baseball+Classic+2013+RostersThe World Baseball Classic has been lost in the shuffle with the beginning of Spring Training, but it kicks off this weekend on March 2nd.

It’s an event that’s supposed to showcase the world’s best…but at the same time, aggravate the pants off every Major League team’s front office. They must hate seeing their pitchers waste their arms in an International tournament.

Asian countries have had the most success in this format, but the Latin American countries always bring the most individual talent. The rosters have been finalized and we list the notable players who will play in this year’s World Baseball Classic. Continue reading

Isiah Thomas Must Be Coaching The Mets

The Mets are looking horrible these days, I don’t know how it could happen. My assumption that Isiah Thomas is secretly coaching the team could be correct, but until my theory is proven, Willie Randolph needs to do something drastic. Omar Minaya, the Mets GM, met with Randolph and got the dreaded “vote of confidence,” but they need to trade what few prospects they have left on more pitching. Reyes, Church, Wright, and Beltran have all been hitting, but the rest of the team isn’t showing up. They always have a good shot at winning ever 4th and 5th days with Johan Santana and John Maine pitching, but the rest of the rotation is really bad.

I would suggest cutting ties with Carlos Delgado and move Moises Alou to 1st base and keep Angel Pagan in leftfield. Pagan has been injured lately, but showed signs of being consistent before his injury. Who knows, maybe someone will trade a 5th starter for Delgado.

The Mets need a kick in the crotch right now, it will hurt at first, but afterwards, you won’t want it to happen again.

The Mets have one thing going for them at the moment, they are probably still better than the Yankees.
