2022 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 13

After a week without any teams out on bye, we have two teams out this week.

The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers are the only teams out this week. Those squads aren’t loaded with startable talent, so may only need low-level streaming options this week.

I know the need for streaming candidates becomes lower as the season progresses, but you should always be looking for upgrades and handcuffs. There are always a few surprise fantasy breakouts during the fantasy playoffs.

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 13 of the 2022 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Deshaun Watson (Cleveland Browns)Watson’s first game is against Houston, his former team. The Browns need a miracle to earn a playoff berth, so I expect Watson will have an open playbook.
  • WR Treylon Burks (Tennessee Titans) – Burks has been an underrated fantasy wider receiver. He could be a little hit or miss against good teams. I expect the Eagles will stack the box to stop RB Derrick Henry and the Titans receivers should have single coverage.
  • TE George Kittle (San Francisco 49ers) – Kittle hasn’t been lighting up fantasy since his return, but I like his chances against the Dolphins. Miami hasn’t been very good at keeping opposing tight ends out of the endzone.
  • RB Tony Pollard (Dallas Cowboys) – Both Cowboys running backs should put up good numbers this week. They face the Colts, who allowed two Steelers running backs to score double-digits a week ago.
  • QB Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins) – Tua didn’t rack up a ton of fantasy points against the Texans, but it was just because they had such a huge lead. They even pulled him late in the win. He faces the Niners and I expect this game will be close, so the Dolphins will need his arm.
  • Dallas Cowboys Defense & Special Teams – The Cowboys defense should out-match the Colts this week. I expect they will force QB Matt Ryan into some bad passes.
  • RB David Montgomery (Chicago Bears) – Montgomery should get a lot of touches, no matter if QB Justin Fields is healthy enough to start. He doesn’t have Khalil Herbert (hip) there to leech touches away.
  • WR Garrett Wilson (New York Jets) Wilson got his wish and the Jets have QB Zach Wilson on the bench. He had a big game with Mike White under center and I expect the Jets passing game to be booming against a banged-up Vikings secondary.
  • RB Jamaal Williams (Detroit Lions) – As long as Williams keep finding the endzone, he will be a top-ten running back. The Lions offense has been a lot better and their balanced offensive attack is a huge reason.
  • TE Pat Freiermuth (Pittsburgh Steelers) – Freiermuth was a letdown against the Colts last week. He faces the Falcons this week, who are weak against opposing tight ends this season.
  • WR Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals) – Chase missed the last few games with a hip injury. The Bengals passing game hasn’t been as dynamic. Cincinnati will need Chase if they hope to beat Kansas City this weekend.
  • RB Dameon Pierce (Houston Texans) – Pierce has shit the bed the last two games, but I still like his talent. He faces the Browns, who are among the worst against opposing running backs this year.
  • Seattle Seahawks Defense & Special Teams – The Seahawks are facing a bang-up Rams squad. The Rams have trouble scoring double-digits and Seattle’s defense has a low-floor when it comes to points.
  • QB Justin Herbert (Los Angeles Chargers) – It took a long time for Herbert to start putting up the numbers we expected going into the year. He injured his ribs early in the year and everyone around him have had their own health issues. He faces the Raiders this week and I expect another solid game.

SIT’EM

  • RB Miles Sanders (Philadelphia Eagles) – Sanders had a massive game against the Packers, but I don’t expect that will be a consistent thing going forward. He didn’t find the endzone in the previous two games and he hasn’t been much of a presence in the passing game.
  • QB Ryan Tannehill (Tennessee Titans)  – Tannehill has had above-average numbers in back-to-back weeks, but it’s not going to be a consistent source of points. A lot of startable quarterbacks will need to be out before he would be worth a start in standard league.
  • WR Adam Thielen (Minnesota Vikings) – The Jets pass defense is pretty damn great. Thielen’s advantage is that he won’t be one-on-one with Jets CB Sauce Gardner. Thielen may see some increased targets, but I don’t see racking up a lot of yards.
  • RB A.J. Dillon (Green Bay Packers) – The Packers have owned the Bears in recent years and RB Aaron Jones went off in their meeting early this year. The Packers rushing offense has been all-or-nothing this year. The Packers will need to run the ball a total of 40+ times to get Dillon enough shared carries to be worth a start.
  • QB Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Brady is leading possibly his worst-ever offense. He doesn’t have a great running game and he has lost some off his fastball. I don’t think he’s good enough to carry an offense anymore.
  • WR Curtis Samuel (Washington Commanders) – Samuel just isn’t in an offense that best suits his skills. QB Taylor Heinicke doesn’t air it out enough for Samuel to be worth a start.
  • TE Cade Otton (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Otton isn’t even a streaming option now that Cameron Brate is back. They are splitting the snaps and neither guy is worth a start.
  • Cincinnati Bengals Defense & Special Teams – It’s hard to start any defense against the Chiefs. Cincinnati’s defense just isn’t a good choice to stream. I’d rather start the Lions or Ravens defense this week.
  • TE Robert Tonyan (Green Bay Packers) – It looked like Tonyan was going to be a non-touchdown-or-bust tight end, but he has slipped down a level. He isn’t getting the targets to be started in standard leagues.
  • San Francisco 49ers Defense & Special Teams – The Niners defense has been better in November, but they face a stout Dolphins offense this week. I’d rather start the Cowboys or Saints defense this week.
  • WR Darius Slayton (New York Giants) – Washington is going to pressure QB Daniel Jones and Washington’s secondary has been pretty darn good of late. I’d rather start Jets WR Elijah Moore or Packers WR Christian Watson over Slayton.
