2021 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 4

Are you content with your current roster or are you looking to make some trades?

A few Week 3 injuries will have an impact on this week’s games. Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey will miss a few weeks after injuring his hamstring against the Texans. Panthers rookie RB Chuba Hubbard will be a trendy pickup this week.

Rookie quarterbacks are struggling this year. Will any of the young signal callers bounce-back this week?

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 4 of the 2021 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills) – If you have Allen on your team, it’s a no-brainer that you’re starting him against the lowly Texans. The reason I’m adding him here is that I believe you should put together a package and attempt to trade for him in your league. The guy is destined to put up some crazy numbers this year.
  • WR Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals) Chase got rid of the drop issue that plagued him this preseason. He has a great match-up on Thursday against the Jaguars. Jacksonville’s secondary is pretty weak, especially after they traded CB CJ Henderson to Carolina this week. Chase should put up some good numbers on Thursday.
  • TE Hunter Henry (New England Patriots) – Even though Jonnu Smith is owned in more leagues, Henry is the Patriots tight end you should have for the rest of the season. Henry is more talented and is eating away at Smith’s targets.
  • RB Cordarrelle Patterson (Atlanta Falcons) – The Falcons running game isn’t good, but Patterson (a former wide receiver) is the de facto running game. He is getting more targets and is having success in PPR leagues. He’s the only running back in Atlanta I’d want right now.
  • Washington Football Team Defense & Special Teams – Washington’s front-seven is fast and can cause a lot of problems in the backfield. They face Atlanta this week and I don’t expect the Falcons to put up many points on Sunday. I expect a couple turnovers and some sacks to add to WFT defense point total.
  • WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (Tennessee Titans) – When A.J. Brown went down with a hamstring injury, Westbrook-Ikhine started to rack up targets. Brown is currently day-to-day, but I expect the Titans will ease him back since they play a horrible Jets team. They can afford to keep Brown out of the lineup. Even if Brown plays, I don’t expect him to play more than two dozen snaps.
  • TE Tommy Tremble (Carolina Panthers) – The Panthers traded TE Dan Arnold to the Jaguars for CB CJ Henderson. Carolina was needing some help at corner after Jaycee Horn broke some bones last week. They also made the move because they like Tremble a lot, so Arnold was expendable. I expect Tremble to keep becoming more involved in Carolina’s offense more throughout the season.
  • WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Green Bay Packers) – I’ve been waiting for MVS to get going this week. He finally put together a solid outing last week against the Niners. He only caught three passes for 59 yards, but did reach the end zone. He has a good match-up this week against the Steelers.
  • RB Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers)The Panthers lost RB Christian McCaffrey for a few weeks after injuring his hamstring against the Texans. Hubbard came into the game and had success. He ran the ball eleven times for 52 yards and three receptions for another 27 yards. No one has the kind of receiving hands as McCaffrey, but Hubbard did do his share in the passing game in college. I expect him to put up impressive numbers this week against the Cowboys.
  • Cincinnati Bengals Defense & Special Teams – It’s clear to me that Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence isn’t ready to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. He needed to carry a clipboard for a year. It’s not completely his fault as the talent around him is rough. The Bengals should be able to pressure Lawrence and cause a few turnovers.
  • QB Tom Brady (Tam Bay Buccaneers) – Brady makes his return to New England this week and if you think he is going to hand the ball off 40 times, you’re nuts. I expect him to go nuts and will have the green light to attack the secondary. The Patriots don’t have CB Stephon Gilmore, so it’s a great scenario for Brady.

SIT’EM

  • RB Ty’Son Williams (Baltimore Ravens) – I advocated people to start Williams at the beginning of the season, but he has a tough match-up this week against the Broncos. Denver has the second-best run defense in the NFL and Williams doesn’t have the experience to deal with Denver’s front-seven. I don’t expect any of the Ravens running backs to rack up many fantasy points this week.
  • QB Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers) – Big Ben has a tough match-up against the Packers. It doesn’t help that he’s dealing with a pectoral injury. He threw the ball 58 times last week against the Bengals, but 19 of those attempts were to RB Najee Harris. He isn’t airing out the ball. I don’t expect him to test CB Jaire Alexander many times.
  • WR Nelson Agholor (New England Patriots) – I would rather own Kendrick Bourne or Jakobi Meyers over Agholor right now. I think Agholor may have dropped to WR3 in New England. It doesn’t help him that the Patriots could try to reel-in rookie QB Mac Jones a big this week after he threw three interceptions last week. I don’t expect a big game from Agholor against the Bucs.
  • All San Francisco 49ers Running Backs – The Niners backfield is a mess at the moment. Their only healthy back is Trey Sermon, who didn’t have a great outing against the Packers. There’s a shot that Elijah Mitchell could play this week, but I don’t see him playing well against the Seahawks either. The Niners will need to pass the ball more against the Seahawks.
  • QB Jameis Winston (New Orleans Saints) – The Saints don’t want Winston to throw the ball more than 25 times, max. I don’t think they want any of their quarterbacks to eclipse that number per game this season. This offense is getting away from the Drew Brees years. Winston isn’t going to be a dependable scoring option at quarterback. It’s clear that the trust isn’t there that he won’t turn the ball over.
  • WR DeVante Parker (Miami Dolphins) – The addition of Will Fuller probably hurts Parker’s fantasy stock the most. He will take away from of the deep balls Parker would receive in past years. Also, the Dolphins will have QB Jacoby Brissett as their quarterback for a few weeks. He doesn’t have an accurate deep ball. Brissett hurt Colts T.Y. Hilton’s fantasy value back when he was in Indy and I think he will do the same to Parker.
  • TE Jonnu Smith (New England Patriots) – I mentioned Smith earlier in this article. I would rather start Hunter Henry over Smith going forward. Henry is just the better option and will get more targets. Smith is still startable in deeper leagues.
  • Arizona Cardinals Defense & Special Teams – The Cardinals are facing the Rams at the wrong time. Rams QB Matthew Stafford is racking up some big numbers and I don’t see that stopping at home against the Cardinals. His confidence is back and is getting adequate time in the pocket.
  • RB Mark Ingram (Houston Texans) – I expect the Bills will build up a lead on the Texans on Thursday. The Texans will need to pass and Ingram isn’t the the running back the Texans will use in passing situations. I’m not saying that Texans running backs David Johnson and Phillip Lindsay are hot commodities, but they will eat into Ingram’s snaps. He may not see a lot of snaps in the second-half.
  • Las Vegas Raiders Defense & Special Teams – The Raiders defense is having a solid year so far, but they could have a difficult time against the Chargers on Monday Night Football. It should be a close game as both defenses could struggle. There are other defenses out there that I’d rather start over the Raiders. I’d start the Colts or Titans over them this week.
