I finished the year 141-108-6 against the spread during the NFL regular season.
We have two extra playoff games this year due to the added playoff spots due to some rule changes in this unique season…we will even have a game on Nickelodeon (Bears at Saints), which itself is odd and unique.
There are only two games that have point spreads larger than a touchdown. That’s usually what happens Wild Card Weekend.
Can the Washington Football Team keep it close against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
We pick every NFL Wild Card Weekend game against the spread.
Since there are only six games this weekend, as a bonus I will also pick the over/under for each game.
Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo Bills (-6.5) – over/under (51) – My pick is Buffalo Bills and OVER
The Bills might be the hottest team in the NFL. Their offense is the best its looked all season and they’ve covered eight-straight games. They’ve been able to stretch out and keep leads. The Colts have been able to beat up on the bottom-half of the league, but they’ve struggled to cover against the better teams in the NFL. The Colts have some offensive line issues and QB Philip Rivers has a toe injury that will hamper his ability to evade the rush. The Bills offensive line should be able to end a few drives. I still think the Colts ground game will keep them close and should score points on Saturday. The Bills will extend their lead late in a potentially high-scoring game.
Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks (-3.5) – over/under (42.5) – My pick is Seattle Seahawks and UNDER
The Rams still haven’t announced if QB Jared Goff (thumb) will be able to play in this game. He’s been limited in practice this week, but I think he will start. It’s hard to believe that they will keep him out of this game. The Seahawks won their most recent meeting against the Rams, thanks to the return of RB Chris Carson. QB Russell Wilson struggled in their first meeting when Carson was out due to injury. He needs a productive running game to keep the Rams defense honest. I think the Seahawks will cover in this game and I’m taking the under.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Washington Football Team (+8.5) – over/under (45) – My pick is Washington Football Team and OVER
There are rumors that Washington could use two quarterbacks in this game. They would use both Alex Smith and Taylor Heinicke in this game. The thought is that the Bucs blitz more than almost any team in the league and Smith isn’t very mobile in his current state. Heinicke knows the offense from his time with the Panthers and that’s the reason he was signed a few weeks ago. I know the Bucs would be a trendy pick here, but I really like Washington’s speedy edge rushers. I think they could cause some chaos. I think Washington will keep it close and I think they’ll barely hit the over.
Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans (+3.5) – over/under (54.5) – My pick is Baltimore Ravens and UNDER
The Ravens and Titans are the two best running teams in the entire NFL. The Ravens can hit you with a few different faces, but the Titans running game is a one-man show. Titans RB Derrick Henry eclipsed the 2,000 yard mark this season. They needed a big game from him last week, as they clinched the AFC South with a late-game field goal. The Ravens defense is better than you think and they have already saw Henry once this year, so they will have a gameplan for him. I don’t think this will be the high-scoring affair many think it will be. I’m taking the Ravens and the under.
Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints (-10.5) – over/under (47) – My pick is Chicago Bears and UNDER
The Bears have been pretty darn good since head coach Matt Nagy gave up offensive play-calling duties. They’re just a better offensive team than they were early this year. Also, the Bears still have some studs on defense. Saints RB Alvin Kamara is currently on the COVID-19 Reserve list, but he could be activated before this game. The Saints will most likely win this game, but I think the Bears will keep it close. Also, it will be close, but I’m taking the under.
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (-5.5) – over/under (47.5) – My pick is Pittsburgh Steelers and OVER
The Steelers and Browns faced each other just last week. The Steelers were able to rest their starters as they already clinched the division, but the Browns had to play everyone in a must-win game. The Steelers have the benefit of already seeing the Browns gameplan…and they’re rested. I still think the Browns will score some points in this game, but I like the Steelers and the over in this one.
