2018 NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 16

Welcome to Championship Week(s).

Based on how your league is structured, this could be your lone Championship game or first of two weeks. I’m a fan of not including Week 17 in your fantasy league, but it does make things interesting with stars resting before the Playoffs.

Did you make it to your championship game or are you just battling for a bronze medal this week?

Here is our Fantasy Football Sit/Start for Week 16 of the 2018 NFL season…and enjoy our awesome MS Paint masterpiece of QB Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys.

I want to explain what I mean by “sit” and “start.” Of course you are going to start some of the guys i say to bench this week, because you probably used high draft picks or a lot of money in an auction for them. My ‘sit’ players are guys I am just not completely sold that they will have good weeks. If you have a guy that you are on the fence about, maybe this will help you pick between the players.

START’EM

  • QB Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) – Many of the top fantasy quarterbacks laid a stinker last week, but Wilson produce well against the Niners. He has another solid match-up this week as the Chiefs secondary can be passed on…and should be a fun game to watch.
  • WR Robert Foster (Buffalo Bills) – The rookie speedy receiver stands out among the average Buffalo wide receivers. He’s making the most out of his targets and have had three 100+ yards games in the last five weeks. He’s a sleeper this week going into a game against the Patriots.
  • RB Kalen Ballage (Miami Dolphins) – Ballage was a preseason sleeper, but it took him roughly 14 weeks to really show his promise. He had a huge game against the Vikings, a team with very good run defense. As long as RB Kenyan Drake is out of the rotation, Ballage should continue to contribute. He faces the Jaguars this week, a team that has all but given up.
  • QB Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys) – Prescott has been the weakest link on the Cowboys. He has been good against bad defenses, but really looked back in last week’s lopsided loss versus the Colts. He has no excuse this week as he faces one of the worst pass defenses in the league (Tampa Bay). WR Amari Cooper should be open most of the game.
  • Indianapolis Colts Defense & Special Teams – The Colts defense has been damn great. They shutout the Cowboys last week and have a great match-up against the Giants this weekend. Their fantasy defense is very underrated and should be owned in all leagues.
  • RB Derrick Henry (Tennessee Titans) – Henry continues to just dominate defenses. It could be that defenses are banged up now, so they are easy pickings, but that is beside the point right now. The Redskins still have some beasts up front on defense, but Henry could have another great fantasy output this week.
  • WR DaeSean Hamilton (Denver Broncos) – The Broncos have been spreading the ball around with no true #1 receiver since they traded WR Demaryius Thomas and WR Emmanuel Sanders tore his Achilles. Hamilton has led the team in targets while WR Tim Patrick has led the team in receptions. Both should be open quite a bit against the lowly Raiders pass defense.
  • TE Evan Engram (New York Giants) – Engram has a tough match-up against the Colts, but Indy has allowed solid yardage to opposing tight ends this season. Engram may not end up in the endzone, but he should get some short yardage receptions and be valuable in PPR leagues.
  • TE David Njoku (Cleveland Browns) – Njoku has been a very good fantasy tight end this season, but the last time he faced the Bengals he have 63 receiving yards and a touchdown. It’s a good match-up for the young tight end.
  • Tennessee Titans Defense & Special Teams – The Titans defense has been underrated all season. They face the Redskins, who are on their fourth starting quarterback this season. They should be able to wrangle in the mobile Redskins QB Josh Johnson.
  • WR Alshon Jeffery (Philadelphia Eagles) – Jeffery is the hottest receiver on the Eagles roster. He has good chemistry with QB Nick Foles and has a good match-up against the Texans. He should be a solid WR3 this week.
  • RB Jamaal Williams (Green Bay Packers) – Williams is the ‘next man up’ after RB Aaron Jones injured his knee. Williams was basically in the entire game last week, so he is bound to get a ton of work against the Jets this week.

SIT’EM

  • WR Allen Robinson (Chicago Bears) – Robinson hasn’t been consistent enough for me to start him during Championship week(s). He will face Niners CB Richard Sherman and will just have trouble getting open all game.
  • RB Kenyan Drake (Miami Dolphins) – As I mentioned earlier, Kalen Ballage is the running back you want in Miami right now. Drake is in the doghouse and isn’t getting enough work to help you.
  • QB Tom Brady (New England Patriots) – Yes, I’m telling your to bench Tom Brady during the first week of your championship match-up. He faces the Bills and the Patriots will most likely get an early lead and run the ball down the Bills’ throats. Also, historically, Brady hasn’t had good fantasy games against the Bills.
  • RB Peyton Barber (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Barber has been a borderline flex play nearly all season, but is coming off a good game against the Ravens. Barber isn’t known for back-to-back good fantasy outputs. I know Colts RB Marlon Mack ran all over the Cowboys last week, but Barber won’t have that level of production against America’s Team.
  • WR Mike Williams (Los Angeles Chargers) – The Chargers are coming off a huge win at Arrowhead last week. Williams was the biggest factor in the win, as he had one of his best games as a pro. He faces the Ravens this week, who will make sure to double team him a lot. I don’t like his prospects of having a good fantasy outing.
  • RB Matt Breida (San Francisco 49ers) – There are only a few NFL players I’d recommend starting against the Chicago Bears, and Breida is nowhere on that list. Chicago is only allowing 3.6 yards per carry this year.
  • TE Jimmy Graham (Green Bay Packers) – I will keep putting Graham in this section until he has a good fantasy output. I don’t understand why so many people are hanging onto him. The Jets are solid against opposing tight ends and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers isn’t even making Graham a priority in his progression.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers Defense & Special Teams – The Saints haven’t been very good on offense the last two weeks, but I wouldn’t take any chances during Championship week(s). I’d go after the Colts defense, which aren’t owned in a ton of leagues.
  • QB Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams) – Goff has a good match-up against the Cardinals, but I’d just stay away from him right now. He’s been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league the last two weeks.
  • WR John Brown (Baltimore Ravens) – As long as rookie QB Lamar Jackson is starting games for the Ravens, their wide receivers will take a fantasy hit. He’ll get a few targets, but I doubt Ravens head coach John Harbaugh wants Jackson to throw more than 20 times against a very good Chargers pass defense.
