Toy Crazy: Summer 2018 WWE Funko Releases

We covered some upcoming Funko releases late last year. Those figures are already in my collection and look fantastic. Funko is set to release even more pop vinyl figures this Summer.

We have reviewed a lot of Mattel’s WWE Elite figures, but Funko has also released solid figures in the past. I’m a big collector and you can see some of my collection on my Instagram, @vintagetoybob.

I’ve plugged another site in a few previous Mattel/Funko posts, but if you’re looking to order Funko figures, I’d trust DCtoys.net. I’ve bought from the seller before and he is highly reputable. The best of the best for sure. You can use code ‘FREESHIPPING‘ for free domestic shipping.

Here are some pictures of Funko’s Summer 2018 WWE POP! vinyl releases.

Triple H (with CHASE) – This is the second Triple H Funko, as he had one in the second or third series a few years ago. The chase version of this figure is pretty cool as I’m a big fan of his entrance face masks he’s used over the years. This chase could he hard to find.

Vince McMahon (with CHASE) – As much as I dig Vince McMahon getting a Funko release, they should have made the chase version more different. They should have put him in his wrestling gear during the Attitude Era. The chase version may not garner the resell value as other chases have on the secondary market.

Kurt Angle – I’m surprised Angle received a Funko this early. I mean, we haven’t even had a Funko of Dean Ambrose or The Miz. It appears to be a modern Angle, which is another surprise. I expected a flashback version from when he first started back in the late-90’s. It should still sell well as he is featured on RAW every single week.

Sgt. Slaughter – I loved old school WWF and GI Joe as a kid, so I dig this Funko. WWE Mattel Slaughter action figures don’t usually fly off the shelves but due to so many GI Joe collectors that also collect Funko products, this intersects both collector markets. Hopefully this doesn’t clog the shelves like the NYCC Zack Ryder Funko action figures that are still collecting dust at your local FYE.

The Hardy Boyz (2-Pack) – Matt and Jeff Hardy action figures always sell well at retail. They would have sold even better if they were the flashback version of the tag team. It will still do well as both guys are still pretty fresh and shown every week on RAW and Smackdown Live.

Asuka – Okay, there’s a little confusion about upcoming Asuka releases. The top two were supposed to be Target exclusives as there was a plan to also release a chase version. The Target exclusive may now actually be a San Diego Comic-Con shared exclusive. I’m not sure what will happen now with the chase. The bottom one was slated to be a Wal-Mart exclusive and as far as I know, it is still slated to be released.

These are all the WWE Funko releases announced for Summer 2018 (so far). Things could change as there may be some surprises around SDCC (like the possible Asuka exclusive).

All of these figures ‘should’ be released by late-July. A few of them are already trickling into the retail market as we speak.

Also, if you dig wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling has some Funkos being released this Summer. The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes are getting their own releases.
