Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: September 2016

weird odd hipster america's white boy music playlist september vinyl record player 2016We wanted to thank our readers by SUPER-SIZING this month’s Hipster Music Playlist. Instead of the usual 20 tracks, we added an extra five more. We just found a lot of awesome music this month and instead of holding over a bunch of songs for October, we decided to add them to this month’s playlist.

I always keep an ear out for new music. I love discovering new bands/songs, it’s a habit from my days as a music journalist. Even though this is mostly a sports blog, I still add quite a bit of music and pop culture content. Keep sending me tracks via email or Twitter. I love checking out all the recommendations you send. Keep them comin’!

I feel like this month’s list is great. Make sure to go over to our Spotify playlist where we add every track each month. There’s something for everyone there.

america's white boy july 2016 hipster music playlistWe wanted to make the Fourth of July a little extra special, so we held off our monthly Hipster Music Playlist until the holiday.

This month’s playlist is a mixture of new bands and established bands that recently put out new music we love. I was a little too excited to see Hot Hot Heat come out with a new album.

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: May 2016

weird odd hipster america's white boy music playlist may 2016I apologize that it has been a few months since I posted a Hipster Music Playlist. I’ve been finding a lot of good music lately, but not quite enough to put out a list of 15 to 20 songs every month. I hope to keep churning these out every month from now on.

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: September 2015

dumb stupid hipster Sweetbob's Hipster Music Playlist September 2015I’ve been so busy writing football previews and studying sports betting trends that I totally forgot to post my monthly Hipster Music Playlist. I’ve been listening to a lot of music while doing all of the above, so this month’s list is pretty sweet.

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: August 2015

Roger_Minick_16I’ve went on ‘get off my lawn’ rants at the beginning of my Hipster Music Playlist posts the last few months. I’ve been on a campaign for bands to be authentic and not try to manufacture grime and use low-fi tricks during the mixing process. You will not lose your ‘indie cred’ by releasing crisp, clean records.

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: July 2015

funny weird hipster dog Sweetbob's hipster music playlistI went on a rant in last month’s Hipster Music Playlist post. I explained how much I dislike bands using low-fi recording/mixing tricks. It just feels disingenuous, especially when many of today’s bands want to make something ‘real’.

Well, I just want to clear up something. I don’t expect every recording to be as clean as a pop record, but you can just tell when a band is trying to ‘manufacture’ grime on a record. Be honest who you are and your sound will always be authentic.

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: June 2015

weird odd strange hipster America's White Boy Hipster Music Playlist June 2015I didn’t post a Hipster Music Playlist last month because I ran into a wall. Not literally, but I just spent way too much time trying to pick 15 songs I enjoyed enough to share with you guys. There’s a trend going on in indie music that I do not enjoy. Many bands are using low-fi recording and mixing on their tracks. I understand if you’re broke and can’t afford quality equipment, but with DIY recording programs being dirt cheap these days, it comes off as disingenuous. I do not enjoy bands trying to fake a grainy sound. Here’s a tip, if your vocalist sounds like they are singing through a late-90’s PC microphone, you’re doing it wrong.

I always keep an ear out for new music. I love discovering new bands/songs, it’s a habit from my days as a music journalist. Even though this is mostly a sports blog, I still add quite a bit of music and pop culture content.

Since I skipped last month, I decided to super-size this month’s Hipster Music Playlist and include five extra songs.

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: March 2015

Damn-Dirty-Hipster-Sweetbobs Hipster Music Playlist March 2015 America's White Boy funny weirdI’ve been drowning in MLB team previews and fantasy baseball position rankings, so I thoroughly enjoyed making this month’s Hipster Music Playlist. It is filled with new bands and some that might be familiar to you.

I always keep an ear out for new music. I love discovering new bands/songs, it’s a habit from my days as a music journalist. Even though this is mostly a sports blog, I still add quite a bit of music and pop culture content.

I have been called a hipster on more than one occasion. I like indie music more than any other genre of music. Don’t get me wrong, I can rock out to Richard Marx or Ace of Base (depending on the amount of alcohol in my system).

These songs may not be able to melt the snow in your area, but I think you will enjoy them.

Here are 15 new indie songs I’m currently listening to. Your ears will thank you for listening!

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: February 2015

hipster funny playlist trash meme America's White Boy Hipster Music Playlist weirdFebruary is usually a pretty bad month here in the Midwest. Tons of snow makes for quite a hermetic lifestyle. You watch a lot of Netflix and try to find something to pass the time. We hope this month’s Hipster Music Playlist helps out.

Coachella 2015 lineupCoachella is a three-day music festival held in Southern California every Summer. It has turned into a music lover’s dream with some of the biggest names in music. It even streams live on YouTube every year.

Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist: January 2015

funny hipster weird music playlist meme nerd geek2014 was a memorable year for the site. We had a record number in visitors. I want to thank everyone for making the site a fun place. I need to think of something special to do. In the meantime, we prepared a nice Sweetbob’s Hipster Music Playlist this month.

January is usually an extremely slow month for music. I did manage to find some new material and a few gems off some albums released late last year.

39 Snarky Reasons To Watch Every Bowl Game

couch potato college football bowl games 2014-15There are 39 college football bowl games this season and to be honest, not all of them are worth watching. I do my best (and worst) to try to convince everyone to tune into every bowl game this season. I use cheerleader quality, famous alumni, hot girlfriends and I even quote the movie ‘Tombstone’ to coax you.

R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: Nevada vs Louisiana-Lafayette (December 20th) – The game is played at the Superdome, so if you’re into watching a non-neutral site bowl game in which 90% of the fans are rooting for Louisiana-Lafayette, this is your game. Sorry about your damn luck, Nevada.

Gildan New Mexico Bowl: UTEP vs Utah State (December 20th) – I only know UTEP exists because I bet on college football. If I didn’t, I would only know UTEP because Tim Hardaway played basketball there…so watch a team you (may) have never heard of play football!
