Toy Crazy: May 2017 WWE Funko Releases

WWE Funko May 2017 Finn Balor chaseWe haven’t covered any Funko releases on this site, but it’s about time we do.

We have reviewed a lot of Mattel’s WWE Elite figures, but Funko has also released some pretty solid figures in the past. I’m a big collector and you can see some of my collection on my Instagram, @vintagetoybob.

I’ve plugged another site in my previous Mattel posts, but if you’re looking to order Funko figures, I’d trust intheringcollectibles.com. I’ve bought a ton of stuff from them and they always pack shipments very well. You can use code ‘paulyp‘ for a discount.

Here are some pictures of Funko’s May 2017 WWE POP! vinyl releases.

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 50

WWE Elite 50 Shane McMahon Stephanie McMahon Baron Corbin John Cena Warlord Rhyno Mattel toysI’m a self-confessed vintage toy nerd. I collect vintage wrestling action figures from the 80’s & 90’s. I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month. You can view photos of my collection on my Instagram account.

The lineup in Elite 50 is overall pretty darn solid. Four in the series are the wrestler’s first ever elite and the accessories are fantastic…especially and entire announce table with Shane.

The WWE Superstars included in Elite 50 are Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Baron Corbin, Rhyno, Warlord and John Cena.

The lineup in Elite 49 is pretty good. Five out of the six figures are the wrestler’s first elite. There are some awesome figures in this set, but I question a few accessory choices.

The WWE Superstars included in Elite 49 are Becky Lynch, Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Apollo Crews, Randy Orton & Brutus Beefcake.

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 48

The lineup in Elite 48 is just all right. It is heavy on current Smackdown Live superstars with Cactus Jack and Boogeyman added as flashbacks.

This set could have issues selling out at retail since Dean Ambrose and Kalisto already have quite a few recent elites…but Boogeyman could be one of the best figures of 2017.

10 Ways to Instantly Improve the WWE

triple-h-family-3The WWE have lost nearly half of their audience on RAW over the last few years and WWE Network subscribers have hit a plateau, even after giving away free programming month after month.

The WWE is a public company and even if they want to live in a kayfabe world of record profits, it’s not what is really happening. The brand split increased the ratings for Smackdown Live, but Smackdown house show attendance is almost at record lows. The roster is so thin right now that it is really hard to keep booking interesting matches.

Here are ten ways the WWE could improve their product right now.

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 47.5

I started purchasing some vintage toys out of nostalgia. Well, WWE and Mattel sucked me into their new stuff. I now buy a few figures a month. The lineup in Elite 47.5 is solid. I’m glad Mattel is trying to put out an in-between series instead of sending mixed collection of elites to retail. Elite Series 47.5 includes debut Goldust, The Ascension (Konnor & Victor), Flyin’ Brian Pillman, Kane and The Rock.

The lineup in Elite 47 is amazeballs. You have the three ‘First Time In Line’ figures from AJ Styles, Asuka and Tatanka, and solid figures of Big Boss Man, Kevin Owens and Cesaro. This lineup could be the best of the year.

Toy Crazy: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 46

The lineup in Elite 46 is decent. It’s really hard for a series to stand out, since so many have been fantastic. It has been a banner year for Mattel’s WWE line of figures. The WWE Superstars included in Elite 46 are Finn Balor, John Cena, Sheamus, Rusev and Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray).
