Cinderella darling Bryce Drew is back in the NCAA Tournament. This time he’s not a player, but as Valparaiso’s coach.
CBS, for ratings sake, hope Cinderella has a slipper on hand for the #3 Michigan State (25-8) vs. #14 Valparaiso (26-7) game.
Tom Izzo was quoted saying, “I’d rather play the Lakers than another Big Ten team.” He got his wish, and thankfully he’s facing Valpo and not Kobe.

Is it possible for play-in game winner to advance in the NCAA Tournament?
It happened in 2011 when VCU won their play-in game and went on to appear in the Final Four. The winner of the Middle Tennessee/St. Mary’s game could join the short list of teams to advance.
#6 Memphis (30-4) plays the winner of that game.
Conference USA never gets many teams in the tournament. It’s the same this year as Memphis is their only representative.

The game between #4 Saint Louis and #13 New Mexico State has one of those. NMSU’s 7’5, 355 lb. Sim Bhullar, who is destined to have a sideshow-like appeal.
After winning the A-10 Tournament, Saint Louis is getting a lot of buzz to be a sleeper pick to win the Midwest bracket. The buzz is warranted, but they have a huge, very huge mountain of a man to climb.

If you’re looking to pick an upset, look no further than when a #5 seed meets a #12 seed in the first-round. These matchups are the most common upsets in the history of the NCAA Tournament.
#5 Oklahoma State (24-8) vs. #12 Oregon (26-8) could be a special game.

This play-in game is the most interesting in this year’s tournament. The winner of the game could be in line to upset Memphis. Middle Tennessee and St. Mary’s are the two teams not in the power six conferences that basketball analysts argued back and forth whether or not they should be in tournament field. This game will be interesting.

These teams were all on the bubble, but failed to make it into the field of 68.
