America’s White Boy’s 2018 MLB Un-All-Star Team

The 2018 MLB All-Star Game is about a week away and it has become a yearly tradition that we look at all the former MLB All-Stars that are having bad years.

The season is a little more than half over and it’s not too late for some of these players to bounce back and turn their seasons around. You can look at our Un-All-Star team article last year, a few bounced back and finished strong.

I’m a very active fantasy baseball owner, it didn’t take me long to make this list. I always keep an eye on fantasy busts and many on this list were selected in fantasy baseball drafts in March.

The old benchmark for an All-Star was thrown out with the bathwater when Bud Selig decided each team must have at least one representative in the All-Star Game.

Here is the America’s White Boy‘s 2018 MLB Un-All-Star team.

2018 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 50 Second Baseman

Our fantasy baseball rankings continue with the top fifty second baseman.

The second base has always been a top-heavy with talent, but there’s a little more than usual this season.

Jose Altuve leads the pack, but there are a few ‘Altuve Light’ options right behind him in the rankings.

Can Jonathan Schoop match last year’s offensive tear?

My rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

1. Jose Altuve – Houston Astros – Altuve may be the best overall player in fantasy. His average is top of the Majors and he will hit 25 homers and steal 30+ bases. I don’t expect a huge decrease in production, but then again, his numbers the last few years have been insane, so even a little decrease wouldn’t be alarming. He’s surrounded in the batting order with elite talent, so he will get pitches to hit.

2017 MLB Season Preview: Seattle Mariners

2017 MLB Season Team Preview Seattle Mariners Jean Segura funnyThe Seattle Mariners are one of the favorites in the stacked AL West this year. They will have their hands full with the Rangers and Astros, who both have plenty of power and speed.

The Mariners made one of the biggest trades this offseason when they sent young starter Taijuan Walker, speedy shortstop Ketel Marte to Arizona for All-Star Jean Segura and outfielder Mitch Haniger

The Mariners haven’t made the postseason since 2001. Can this team break the long drought or will they fall short again

Here is the 2017 MLB season preview for the Seattle Mariners.

2016 MLB Season Preview: Seattle Mariners

Nori-Aoki-Seattle-Mariners-2016-mlb-season-preview-americas-white-boyThe Seattle Mariners were supposed to take over the AL West when Robinson Cano signed his huge contract to come to town. It hasn’t went as planned for the Mariners. They now have a new general manager (Jerry DiPoto) and manager (Scott Servais) to run the team.

DiPoto did the usual ‘new general manager’ things like revamp the bullpen and trade some mid-level players for other mid-level players. He didn’t make any huge moves, but enough to change a lot of faces.

The Mariners haven’t made the postseason since they won 116 games in 2001. Can this team break the long drought or will they be another average Seattle team?

Here is the 2016 MLB season preview for the Seattle Mariners.

2015 MLB Team Preview: Seattle Mariners

Seattle Mariners 2015 MLB team preview Ryan Macklemore bobblehead shirtless funny weirdThe Mariners were one game away from making the postseason last year. Robinson Cano brought his winning pedigree over from New York. The signing turned out to be one of the best last offseason, even if he did bring a hefty price tag.

The AL West is loaded once again (the Houston Astros actually look like a professional baseball team this season). The Rangers and A’s might not be as strong, but the Angels are all expected to run away with the AL West. Can Seattle take the crown from Los Angeles?

Seattle has turned into quite a sports town. The Seahawks own the city and the Sounders have helped transform the entire U.S. into caring about soccer more than just every four years. Can the Mariners piggyback on the overwhelming rabid Seattle sports fanbase and turn Safeco Field into a strong homefield advantage?

Here is the 2015 MLB season preview for the Seattle Mariners.

2015 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 40 Second Baseman

2015 Top 40 Fantasy Second Baseman MLB Jose Altuve Carlos Lee Houston Astros funny short shirtlessSecond base was one of the thinnest positions last year, but due players like Anthony Rendon and Brian Dozier, it’s now extremely deep. There is a group of young second baseman in MLB that have surpassed guys like Chase Utley and Brandon Phillips. The position should be deep for quite some time.

How will Javier Baez and Rougned Odor fare in their first full seasons in the Majors?

My 2nd base fantasy baseball rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

1. Robinson Cano – Seattle Mariners – Cano has been the consensus #1 second baseman for quite some time. He proved last season that getting a fat paycheck didn’t affect his on-the-field performance. He’s good for .300+ with double-digit power and the ability to drive in 90 runs.

2014 MLB Team Preview: Seattle Mariners

Corey Hart Logan Morrison Seattle Mariners 2014 MLB Team PreviewThe Mariners went on a spending spree this offseason. The started the offseason by giving Robinson Cano the ‘godfather offer’ and couldn’t refuse. They then added Corey Hart, Logan Morrison and Fernando Rodney.

The AL West is loaded this season (if you omit the Houston Astros). The Rangers, A’s and Angels are all expected to battle for the division crown and AL Wild Card spots. Is there room for Seattle in that race?

Players often have a down year immediately after they sign a huge long-term deal. Will Robinson Cano be an exception?

Here is the 2014 MLB season preview for the Seattle Mariners.

2014 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 30 Second Baseman

Dustin Pedroia Ric Flair Fantasy Baseball 2nd Base Boston Red SoxThe pool of available second baseman is never deep. It’s one of the thinnest positions in fantasy baseball. This year is no different. After the first 15, you’re picking through the scraps of platoon players and young players who haven’t proven themselves in the Majors.

Does Jason Kipnis have a shot of dethroning Robinson Cano has the best fantasy second baseman?

My 2nd base fantasy baseball rankings are based on a standard 5×5 league. If you have any specific questions about a different league, email me BobbyMcrib@gmail.com.

1. Robinson Cano – Seattle Mariners – Cano has been the consensus #1 second baseman for quite some time. He got PAID (yes, capital letters) this offseason. I usually predict regression once a player signs a long-term deal worth the GDP of a small country, but Cano is as consistent as they come.

2. Jason Kipnis – Cleveland Indians – I love Jason Kipnis. He helps you in every category. Not only does he hit near 20 homers, but he bats .280 and steals 30 bases. I will definitely be targeting him in nearly every fantasy baseball league I’m in this year.

Jay-Z to Sell Ownership in Brooklyn Nets

jayz-booklyn-netsIt comes to no surprise that after rap mogul Jay-Z signed to be the sports agent for New York Yankees Robinson Cano, he will now sell his small (really small) ownership in the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets franchise.

Contrary to popular belief, Jay-Z only owns less than 1% ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. He is more of a figurehead than someone with any power. The majority owner is Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov.

He recently partnered with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to create his own company, Roc Nation. He hopes to complete the sell by the end of the season so he can sign upcoming players in this June’s NBA Draft.

It’s hard to say who used who between Jay-Z and the Nets. The then-New Jersey Nets eyed a marquee name to attached themselves. It helped Jay-Z had New York ties to help create a buzz about push the team’s future move to the area in motion. Continue reading

2013 MLB Team Preview: New York Yankees

Alex+Rodriguez+ARod+DoucheBag+CigarIt is impossible for the New York Yankees to have a scandal-free offseason.

First, you have a New York Post picture of an overweight Derek Jeter. Second, you have a report linking Alex Rodriguez to BioGenesis PED scandal.

The Blue Jays and Rays improved their rosters with big trades and the Yankees, besides signing Kevin Youkilis, they did not sign any top free agents.

Can the Yankees win another AL East crown?

2013 Fantasy Baseball: Top 30 Second Baseman + Sleepers

Robinson+Cano+Yankes+Fantasy+Baseball+Second+BaseSecond Base, as always, is one of the trickiest positions to fill in fantasy baseball. Unlike the corner infield positions, it’s hard to find power and average without missing out on steals.

There are a few elite second baseman, but the position isn’t as deep as 1B, 3B and outfield. If you want a top-tier second baseman, you will have to use a high pick.

Here are the top 30 second baseman for 2013 fantasy baseball season. We even pick a few sleepers and the busts you should avoid!

2013 World Baseball Classic: Notable Players

World+Baseball+Classic+2013+RostersThe World Baseball Classic has been lost in the shuffle with the beginning of Spring Training, but it kicks off this weekend on March 2nd.

It’s an event that’s supposed to showcase the world’s best…but at the same time, aggravate the pants off every Major League team’s front office. They must hate seeing their pitchers waste their arms in an International tournament.

Asian countries have had the most success in this format, but the Latin American countries always bring the most individual talent. The rosters have been finalized and we list the notable players who will play in this year’s World Baseball Classic. Continue reading
